  1. You just made me laugh out loud. I love the fact that the above quote is all you need. Brilliant.
  2. I can understand it though - they are playing for a Top 4 spot, playing him against us should be ok as it won't hurt them too much. Playing him against a Hawthorn for example would hurt them, theoretically.
  3. I forgot about that...
  4. That's a little nugget of info we didn't know, as I thought he had only met with Roos and some of the FD. Makes things more interesting to say the least.
  5. I still believe the club didn't care one bit when he left. We probably tried, outwardly, to keep him but behind close doors we were probably happy to see the back of him and use the compo pick on someone like Vince who has given us more consistency than Sylvia did in his time at the club.
  6. The optimist in me says we can. The eternal Melbourne supporter in me is getting angry because GWS will probably pull something out of the bag against the Cats... and then we are the only team not to pull off an upset and get done by 10 goals, thus ruining my weekend and not joining in the 'upsets'.
  7. I still think we have enough about us to roll both the Lions and GWS, but you're right in saying that with games like these finishing on the bottom is not out of the question.
  8. Spot on. It seems as though they are grooming him as a legit ruck/forward, rather than just as a ruckman who rests forward.
  9. This stat means little but the Dockers have never won when trailing by more than 32 points at half time, so history is not on their side... but they are playing St. Kilda. As a little side note Col Sylvia only has 4 possessions and has been putrid for the Dockers yet again.
  10. Too short sighted of you h_h, he will be missed regardless of the hate... but a top 5 pick will be very handy if he goes walk.
  11. Well said. I'm glad you put the 'yet' in your post as I was ready to disagree... but you're spot on!
  12. I'd say it's the overall cattle. It's not good enough to sustain 4 quarters. On the plus side it sounds as though Gawn had a ripper of a game. More of that for Melbourne would be nice.
  13. I'd love to know what Maxwell has on his CV that is different to Lings that makes him a potential success and Ling not. They both seem very, very similar to me.
  14. Can't argue with that, but I also think it's clearly going to the be the norm going forward. Players will put off contract talks and incur the wrath of the supporter base regardless of their future decision.
  15. You would assume the club would do their due diligence before signing him, but this is his third year in row injury free. If we got him for the right price then I can't see any reason why a rational Melbourne fan would say no to his signing.
  16. When was the last time he was injured? It seems as though he has gotten through the last few seasons with little trouble, but I could be wrong.
  17. I think what most are trying to get across Frosty is that where is this 'better' going to come from? In some aspects I agree with your sentiments - we have a raft of players who don't produce enough for the talent they have, but they are not the players to move on. The draft, regardless of who you take, is never a sure thing and if we move on the players you mentioned we have to be CERTAIN that we are improving our list in doing so. Just going to the draft, for example, is not the answer in our case. We need quality to replace these players but to just say we can do it is naive at best and doesn't give us an answer. It's one thing to want to move them on, it's another to do it and improve the list, and I don't think we can do that right now.
  18. The only denial, which came from Chip himself, was that he had set an 800k price on his head to move to another club. Doesn't necessarily mean that isn't what he is asking but, in terms of the length of contract, he camp hasn't said anything about it.
  19. No doubt he is a good bloke as that's all you hear, but Joel Corey isn't going to drop an old teammate in it to a complete stranger. Of course he's going to play a straight bat.
  20. Yeah that makes sense, I recall us doing a late pick for Rodan, and I think the Eagles did the same for Morton. Works for me!
  21. I don't believe we would do that either, might chuck a late pick the Swans way or something to get it done without going the FA route... if we can actually do that...
  22. I'm in the same boat. They will be up and about and we all know how tired we are getting as a team as we reach the final stages of the season. Could be brutal. Happy with the ins though and not fussed too much with who comes in, although Blease and Michie probably deserve a run more than the other two at the minute.
  23. Cameron and Hogan for the next 10 years.... I could live with that. I would still hope we re-inforced the midfield as it's no good getting talent up forward if we can't actually get it down there.
  24. The thread is about who to target at the end of the year. You are talking free agency and a bloke who doesn't hit FA for a few years. I think you're confused.
  25. You're making too much sense here AoB, he won't understand. He is captain of Collingwood... and he is going to walk out on them, for us, in a few years time for possibly a bit more cash. It all makes such brilliant sense....
