  1. Jay "I'm often wrong" Clark from the HUN said that Carlton are the front runners for Aish. Unless there is minimal interest, why in the world would he want to go there? Us, the Saints, Dogs etc. are all young teams with a far brighter future than Carlton. But then if you read the HUN enough you realise that players are only going to Collingwood, Richmond or Carlton these days so it doesn't surprise really.
  2. I would expect us to be talking to a number of players, and Motlop would be top the queue. We are generally a one paced side and someone like Motlop would instantly bring some x-factor to the middle of the ground that we sorely lack. I don't think he would come to us but it's pleasing to hear we are well and truly on the front foot.
  3. We all thought it was going to be Dion Prestia, but HH only rates him as a B+ so it can't be him.
  4. We got smashed in the clearances. 43-22. To me it's a combination of Brisbane's superior midfield (Christensen had 8, Beams 7, Rocky 5) and our midfield getting used to Gawn as our ruckman. He is a different style of playing to the big Russian.
  5. Whatever happened to Ellie McKenzie? Did she get dropped from her role once Jordie was dumped from the leadership group? At least she was up and about, Burgs comes across as the most droll and boring man on the planet. I'm sure he isn't mind you, just his delivery is so... restrained.
  6. All good mate! I see what Jaded is saying, but we aren't Hawthorn - our depth is still poor and having a guy like Howe at Casey does us no favours. As a defender who can go third man up he can be damaging. As jumbo said he is too lazy up forward, which is where he has been recently, and playing in defence forces him to play his role and stick to it.
  7. Maybe, but his game today shows why he should be kept in the side. No one else at Casey can play like he can.
  8. Begs the question why you would believe it so blindly too. The club knows what it is doing.
  9. As Ricky Gervais would say: "Your explanation is the theological equivalent of saying 'look over there' and then running in the opposite direction." Agree with the last part though.
  10. So how can you equate Roos talking about getting an A+ midfielder to being about Dion Prestia when you only rate him as a B+? Logic doesn't compute, although why I'm applying logic to your posts is anybodies guess.
  11. I don't doubt his potential at all, and if he can show improvement then he can become a very handy player for us. But he was poor today (I assume we are talking about JKH... ?) and, in light of a quiet few weeks, might miss the Saints game for one of the players I mentioned earlier.
  12. JKH had a shocker, no doubt about that. He is clearly struggling at the moment and it wouldn't surprise to see him dropped. ANB has plenty of upside but, after being the sub, you would think he might have a rest in the magoos as well. We have a few who can replace their current output, such as Toumpas, Michie or Newton as well, so it would make sense to make 2 changes and stick with the rest.
  13. If we could win 3 of our last 7 games and finish on 8 wins then that gets a tick from me. I'm not sure we can do it, and plenty depends on how we run out the season, but it's achievable.
  14. I think, for this week at least, Stretch and Harmes are safe. JKH and ANB would be the logical players to miss, with possibly a Michie/Newton/Riley to replace them to give them a rest for the week. I can't see Roos making 4 changes to a winning side.
  15. No doubt the kids are tiring, the second half is testament to that. While some of our senior players continued to get their hands on it the kids didn't. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stretch, ANB, Harmes and even Brayshaw miss a game or two over the coming weeks for fresher legs like Michie, Newton, Riley and even a Bail or Jones. Roos flagged in his presser that he wants to continue to look after the kids so I'd expect it to happen. It's the right move too.
  16. We showed a month ago we could beat the Saints. The game was ugly, won't argue that, but as Roos said in his presser a win today shows that we already have more wins than last year and that the improvement is evident in that. We are, and even before today's win, a chance to roll the Saints next Sunday.
  17. For all the crud we've given them, and in some instances for good reason, it's nice to see them still welcome back at the club and also willing to come back as well.
  18. Here is exhibit A of those posters who are disappointed when we win. So sorry Melbourne decided to disappoint you with the 4 points today mate.
  19. But we weren't GTG. You aren't wrong, but seriously, enjoy the win.
  20. I sometimes feel like there are people on here who are disappointed when we win. Always focus on the negatives. We could have won by 100 points today yet they would focus on the worst player on the ground.
  21. A couple of things to take out of today: 1 - We have won 5 games in a season for the first time in 3 years. That's a good mental hurdle for the players to get over, and after losing all of our games in the second half of last year it's good to get a win on the board, even if it was very ugly. 2 - We tired in the second half as our kids continue to find running out games a struggle. Harmes, Stretch and Brayshaw stand out as those players while JKH was quiet and ANB didn't go a whole lot in a little bit of time on the ground. What we DO need to remember is that these kids are still doing good things. Take Stretch for example. He tired in the second half but still had 12 touches and 5 tackles at 91% DE. When he gets his tank up then he can run out games and have further touches. Harmes improved on last week and had 15 touches as well. Brisbane are rubbish which helped us out big time, but a win is a win guys, and something that can help our confidence going forward. It's FAR better than a loss at any rate.
  22. Playing mostly on McStay, whose had 1 touch. The Prince is well and truly doing his job.
  23. They were always going to do that with their midfield. As has been their problem all year they literally have nothing going forward, so as long as we pressure them they will find it very hard to score. Plus we have a few mids who can lift as well in that area in the second half.
  24. Sub him late in the third or at the start of the 4th. We are well in front, no need to sub him too early on for a player to go down injured.
  25. Good opening half in a pretty ugly affair. Plenty to like from the boys and, apart from clearances, we well and truly have them covered. We need to come out in the third term and put them away.
