  1. I hate this time of year <_< !!! Should we make an ongoing list of players we are willing to auction off to teams that are extremely unlikely to give us what we think they are worth?
  2. So should we be doing shots ?!!!
  3. While that is probably the truth there Jerry, it is not nearly subtly denegrating enough to our club to say !!! Which bloke was that Doc?

    Brad Green

Amen C84....... I understand the argument about moving players on to re-build, but sometimes that can do more harm than good. I wrote this a while ago on another thread but it seems appropriate here - For starters the odds of us being properly compensated (and lets be serious, I can't see any club giving up a first round for Brad Green, and I am a fan of his) or getting what we think he is worth is slim to non-existent so, he is probably (read definitely) worth more to us than what we may get for him. And I will put this out there as well, since we all seem so hell bent on trading our seniors away for speculative draft picks. Earlier in this thread it was said that because it is unlikely that Green will see a Premiership with us given where we are currently at we should therefore automatically cut our losses and trade. While in theory that is all well and good, I will put a slightly different spin on it. For starters you can't get rid of all players over a certain age, that is just ridiculous and even more important than that is the fact that some of these players could well be part of laying a solid foundation for our next premiership team to build on. To me Green, with how he has performed this year both in his improved consistency and skills as well as his leadership (which is something that has been near non-existent within the team for a very long time) would be an excellent mentor or roll model for the next breed of Melbourne footballer to learn from, and hopefully this will be part of the foundation of our next great side. The re-signing of MacDonald with his work rate and ethic would indicate a similar thinking. These kids, and make no mistake there will be plenty of babies running around in Demon colours next year, will need some good solid leadership to help them to become what we hope that they can be, and for my money someone like Green (and MacDonald) therefore becomes invaluable to that cause given their attitudes. Other senior players may not be quite as suitable to this kind of role, but to say that a player is "useless" to the cause simply because he is to maybe going to be too old to see our next flag is insane, simply because for the right player he could become an important stone as we build towards our ultimate goal. Now, I hope that made sense !!!
  5. Hopefully that will be the same next year (the form not the injury) !!!
  6. Or buy a lottery ticket !!!
  7. Who cares? It was a nice win with good performance from some youngsters, albeit against a poor opposition. But it thankfully didn't cost us our important priority pick, so I really don't see the issue.
  8. FWIW....... 6. Green 5. Morton 4. McDonald 3. Whelan 2. Wheatley 1. Warnock Apologies to Bruce, Buckley, Martin, Miller and Jones
  9. Why? And I'm with Rhino, let them stick with what they have and "important" numbers still get passed along.

    New CEO

While that is perfectly valid Bub, I think that you massively under-estimate the heavy lifting required in running any club, especially up here. The difference for the Storm is that they have no financial instability given they are an experiment in a hostile area and therefore are taken care of via News. But for the Sydney clubs it is a far different story and one that could well end in tears for a couple of them, unfortunately. That being said I am not sure Waldron would be a great fit.

So is the Storm and would probably not even exist at least not to the success they have now without News ownership.
  12. Well being a Sydney girl I hope I can help....... The Friday night games have been broadcast live into Sydney (and Brisbane) on Fox Sports Plus (which is the Main Event network under normal circumstances), which is channel 518 and is shown again on Fox Sports One (channel 501) at 11pm. Channel Seven do normally show the game later on the Friday night (11.30'ish usually), but that is under normal circumstances but for this week (and next probably) that won't happen. The game is however being broadcast on Channel 7 at 7.50am Saturday morning. I hope that helps !!!
  13. Well it looks like Milburn could well be out at least....... Milburn cops four weeks from panel
  14. As for Morton, definitely one of his best performances today, and it was great to see him work his way into the match after a wobbly start. Hopefully he gets rewarded with the Rising Star nom this week, but if not it is still great and very encouraging to watch him play (despite the obvious work that is needed on his build and disposal) As Bub said, there is absolutely something about him.......
  15. I didn't think he was too bad either, in fact I thought he did a pretty reasonable job. But I guess there always has to be one and its his turn
  16. This is the part of that page that interested me.
  17. Or you could just watch the sneak preview on Korean TV, and still make it to the game !!!
  18. Amen to that Jaded...... The article was silly, but so what all in a good cause!!!
  19. Mine too forest, and I'm with you on all of it........ Although it may just be wishful thinking given eveything !!!
  20. Ok I am with you here because no-one is absolutely safe for the perfect offer, but the odds of us being properly compensated or getting what we think he is worth is slim to non-existent so, as Jaded said on another thread, I think about Chris Johnson, he is probably (definitely) worth more to us than what we may get for him. And I will put this out there as well, since we all seem so hell bent on trading our seniors away for speculative draft picks. Earlier in this thread it was said that because it is unlikely that Green will see a Premiership with us given where we are currently at we should therefore automatically cut our losses and trade. 21. Doing most of the heavy lifting !!!
  22. Well, I bought a $200 raffle ticket....... My government funded existance won't allow for any more, but if wishes were horses !!! Congrats to everyone involved and well done to Stynes and the organisers it is great news.
  23. Oh I don't know if the locals in here get their claws into someone they will tear them to shreds........ We went through this over the last couple of years over Brad Miller, who copped more than his fair share of crap and abuse about his performances on the field and his person, and it even got to the point where those of us who were standing up for him were copping personal abuse and ridicule as a result. See the thing is to me is that I have no problem critiquing a players performance, and while I don't condone YM's constant berating of Bruce it's primarily left to his game day impact, and while I don't like the method as long as it stays within the parameters of the field then the players are open to criticism. But the minute it becomes a personal assault then all bets are off and that is when it must stop, and is massively out of order. But we as supporters, members and financial contributors to this club, and the fact that we do all love the team, are more than entitled to give an opinion, whether that be positive or negative, on the teams on field performance. And this is the only forum we can really debate and get varying opinions from our own. There is just a line that should never be crossed.
