  1. So the general answer is maybe? Because how the hell would we actually know. I guess we'll find out soon enough!!!
  2. That works for me BBP, it would could still probably be regarded as a best case scenario, but that would give us some dignity at least!!! Apropos...... Melbourne Demons face Geelong in one of AFL's greatest ever mismatches
  3. Congratulations to the club...... As someone up thread said "onwards and upwards"!!! And this is a huge step forward, so well done to all involved, including us !!!
  4. But even if it had been entertaining there was still no one there to see it....... (apologies to those brave souls who were there)
  5. For helping them get the win ?!!!
  6. 14,129 <_< !!!
  7. 6. Davey 5. Moloney 4. Frawley 3. McLean 2. Rivers 1. Sylvia Apologies to Bennell, Petterd and Dunn.
  8. No-one stopped trying, their effort was genuinely wonderful and it should be commended........ But Bruce, while he can be very good, lets himself down way too often for a player of his stature with his disposal. We need him to be better. But he will not be dropped, and while I am not sure he should be, he isn't to be protected either.
  9. It was a tough day for the big guys, but.......... !!!
  10. Yes but he could have thirty-five possessions and kick five goals and you would want him out !!! He frustrates me too, but I can't see him not playing next week.......
  11. Yes how awful for you   .......
  12. You'd think that while not expected to know all players at all times, knowing exactly who is playing in the game you are being paid to commentate would be a given...... Apparently and unfortunately not, maybe he could check the numbers in future if he continues to get confused or senile !!!
  13. MY condolescences and best wishes go out to Clint and his family...... Very sad news and his is a gallant effort to play today. I'm so sorry.
  14. I did that during uni (my first degree was in history) and it was an unbelievable experience. One that should never be cheapened or mistreated. The problem with some attitudes now is that this game is being treated as the creation of Anzac Day and not the other way around. I give credit to those that help raise awareness to the next generation, that is a great thing, but football should never outweigh the meaning of the day, and the meaning of the day doesn't necessarily translate into a football match no matter what clubs are involved. Although it is sad that it seems that the Collingwood Football Club needs to be reminded that they didn't create Anzac Day, and to me that is thoroughly disrespectful. Those involved should never lose sight of what today means. The football is a mark to the day, not the other way around.
  15. My brother is a Bomber, and he will now be insufferable for quite some time ...... But I really have to say that the lesser of two evils definitely came out on tops today.
  16. This piece was written by a Sydney sports journalist regarding the NRL match played this afternoon, but it really does apply to the AFL as well....... Lest we forget who the real heroes are
  17. Honestly couldn't we stop now bagging a club that we aren't all that concerned about...... While the original poster has his opinions, I really think that this thread has become a little pointless
  18. As it should...... But publicity really shouldn't be the point.
  19. Yeah Brian Taylor basically told the other three panelists last night that they could just sit out Anzac Day because it was "Collingwood's day" or something along those lines...... Now I am not going to argue the bloody obvious (not a lot of Pies jumpers at Gallipoli I wouldn't have thought), but I am going to marvel at the lack of respect for the history of the day itself. And also for re-writing AFL history (which he should know), and the fact that the Anzac Day match (which I think is a wonderful thing) was a brainchild of Kevin Sheedy .
  20. It is wonderful that they paid their respects, and hopefully it will continue for years to come, it is the least we can do in our generations...... But being in Sydney I never got to see the piece involving the Dees, but when the Bombers made the same visit yesterday, well that made the news all the way up here !!!
  21. I did a great job, was friendly, genuine with an easy going charm, and a good advertisement for the club...... It was great to see him on the show, given the fact we don't get a lot of Demon news up here, it was a nice change of pace!!! Hopefully we will see more Demons in the media, and he is a good choice, and while it is not necessarily the easiest thing to do, he did a top job. And just for the record (female wise) Jaded is right - learning Spanish for her for their wedding - so romantic and more than a little swoon-worthy !!!
  22. I'm so glad that this is going so well..... Last nights TV seemed to be a success (well done to all involved on the phones and to Millsy on The Footy Show), and hopefully it will flow into today as well. We're nearly at our desired destination (but not stopping hopefully), and I for one am so proud of this club and of its members :D !!!
  23. We're driving down !!!
