Well as long as you can kick some goals then all is good with the world..... And I understand the argument of he hasn't had to deal with any fall out so far in his career of being an idiot, so he keeps doing what he does, but for gods sake he is an adult (at least he is old enough to be regarded as one) and should therefore bloody well know what is the difference between decent and indecent behaviour, at least in a professional environment like that. I heard David Parkin take responsibility for Fev's actions saying that he should have been tougher on him when he was drafted why back when, but a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, and you would have thought that after all the issues he has caused he could have learned something by now. But apparently not and he still has his apologists, Crown for serving the alcohol, Carlton for either not banning him from drinking or removing him from the room, Judd for being a weak captain, but only one person is to blame for the situation there is now. So are Channel 9 responsible for Fevola? Not in my opinion, at least not for his actions. He was drinking to the point of drunk during the count (which incidentally was broadcast on Channel 7), and this behaviour obviously continued after that. He also did this knowing full well that he was contracted prior to the event to do a media segment, something that he is being well paid to do. As it stands Nathan Brown had the unenviable task of jumping in and finishing Fevola's well paying pre-organised gig (and it is irrelevant how he went doing it expect to say he was thoroughly unprepared for it). Channel 9 should never have even had to ask him to do it. The argument here however is whether "The Footy Show" or Channel 9 should have aired it. Well it comes down to a matter of opinion. Maybe they could have showed a little more restraint, which could well be argued they did by editing certain (large) parts of the evening out of the final broadcast product, but in truth in the current media environment salacious will always win out. This was considered news-worthy, and was probably excellent for their ratings on the night, not to mention any money they made from on-selling the footage to rival networks. So whether you like the media or not, it was Fevola that put himself into this position and while his TV employers have capitalized on it, he alone must pay the price of his choices. At the end of the day Brenden Fevola alone is responsible for his actions and hopefully he gets what's coming his way, .......and I seem to be pissy today !!!

Don't be an idiot and change the subject simply because someone pulled you up for your attitude towards our players....... You can have an opinion but showing respect for our players should be easier than it apparently is, and has nothing to do with what I would or would not prefer. They are not your toys to throw around and spit on, please remember that in the future, even if you aren't happy with a performance.
-
Yeah, but what's happening to them is undeniably fun to watch !!!
-
Try showing some respect to your teams players will you please...... If thats too hard then take a break.

I am not sold on, nor particularly like this "he will definitely go to the Gold Coast" attitude, it seems like a pie in the sky hope for those who still want to [censored] all over Miller...... That being said he is not necessarily a long term player with Melbourne so maybe it is an option, it is nothing more than an unrealistic assumption at this point, so please I beg you, have a more little logic and common sense with this, just because he comes from Queensland and he may be out at the end of 2010 in reality means bugger [censored] all and it is insane to jump the gun this early. Too many idiots around here get so caught up in the berating of this player that this fact (yes fact) is utterly lost on them....... It shouldn't be, and it is a criminal shame that so many here chose to ignore how valuable he is to the club and in teaching the young playing group, especially when there are no others (forwards) to take up the responsibilities he carries. His work ethic, attitude to the club (which is disrespected by too many around here) and leadership are all things I for one want our next crop of kids to learn from. Glad to still have you here Brad.

That doesn't make him awful, just not your particular cup of tea....... That's all well and good, but just because you disagree with a journos opinion doesn't make him (her) an idiot or fool or anything else derogatory for that matter......

McLean unhappy with Casey Fields location
QueenC replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ok Sydney-sider here so quick question..... Just how damn far is Maribyrnong and Cranbourne out of the city of Melbourne and away from each other? This whole argument makes it sound like he is commuting in from the wilderness somewhere !!! -
2/100 now!!! Thanks for that, but it really doesn't change Johnsons voting question marks......
-
Yes they were, as were the ODI's in England after the Ashes...... Really begs the question of who the hell else was nominated?
-
I haven't been here in a while, but amen H, well said !!!
-
Yeah it's the way he used to chase and tackle, a skill which wasn't important at all in the GF, that would have made him so vital !!!
-
Happy to have this over and done with...... Thanks to the club for keeping us all informed, and to Aaron for making the obviously correct decision, although we seem to have buckled on the terms (four year deal instead of three) under his apparent demands and his alleged threats of leaving. This is unfortunate and Jaded is right, I just hope we didn't pay too far over the odds to keep him. But this is what it is now. But to those that were burning their memberships, you may just want to settle down in future and wait for the facts !!!

Apparently, but it's worth having this thread up the top again because it is a great read........

You're inciting the masses Red !!!

Maybe a light should go off when the ball hits the post...... Everyone can see it, no confusion then !!!

Ahh yes, its deja vu all over again !!!

You would think that winning, or at least getting a hell of a lot closer to it will come with more experience in our youngsters..... So on this I think you are both right. It is important to get that experience into those kids that were listed and hopefully this will lead to a building of success over the next season and beyond, but we also want these kids to learn how to win and that comes from being able to do so, and the confidence and skill of that comes from this steep learning curve. At the end of the day we have to be better, and the kids have to be given time, although those two probably go hand in hand, but in the end we have to win more, not a lot but more. But there is still a lot to learn about anf for these kids and what they can do, but hopefully we will see the beginnings of and be well on our way to building a Premiership winning team. I hope that made some sense given I am talking in circles, but so is the process to some degree !!!

Amen Supreme, well said......

I'm not sure what Hall has to do with it other than there is a hole up here that needs to be filled...... Sydney will not be giving up this pick, they need it, and while it would be nice for us to have, they absolutely need it and will definitely use it. Or we could possibly auction off half our young up and comers to get said pick? So maybe some reality wouldn't kill us !!!

Then you have to wonder why make these comments in the first place? I don't see him out there trying to make himself look bad, maybe it was an error in judgment, but in truth it just looks like a poor attempt to take a(nother) whack at the Dees. And this is unfortunately not the first time he has had a whinge about what happened, and I am sorry that he feels so hard done by, and while I can understand why he feels the way he does, which I guess is betrayed by the club, I cannot understand this late surge of complete disloyalty towards an organisation that did great by you and you did great by for so many years. Deputising Yze and White into your argument doesn't really do any favours for it either. Someone up thread said he is just human, true but he is also an adult and needs to stop behaving like a child who couldn't get their own way. Robbo was so great for us for so many years, it is sad that while hard the relationship can't end with some dignity, on all fronts.

A good solid voice of reason there Bub..... No-one likes losing a player like Brock, many of us loved his attitude and (up until now) loyalty to the club, which obviously extended beyond the field, but he did have his short comings, which have been painfully pointed out many times over the past thirteen or so pages, and he may well have just seen what some here can, others can't yet, that his days as a first choice mid were possibly numbered. Many can ask why this is, given where we are, but that is not the important part the important part is that it is what it is, and that reality must be dealt with. And it has been dealt with to the best of all concerned. Another first round pick in today's drafting conditions is nothing to sneeze at, and we shouldn't be crying out that he is worth more either. Many here will scream that he is worth whatever we can get for him, and if Carlton wants to give us their first pick, then complaints really should be at a minimum. The club comes first here. We all have a tendency of over value our own, because simply they are ours and we always want them to be maybe better than they are. That and we don't want to feel like after years of emotional investment in a player we are getting screwed. But at the end of the day this is a pretty good deal and while I am not happy to lose Brock I am happy with the compensation for losing Brock. We can now only hope that whoever we chose for this bonus draft choice is a great kid with skill and helps us in the future. But that right now is nothing short of a fairy tale. The unfortunate reality for Brock, despite his well earned fan popularity is that he probably hasn't achieved the heights we wanted him to in his ninety odd games, whether that is because we as a fan base thought too highly of him, or whether he just hasn't come on like he should have is up for endless debate, but this affects his value (and I hate talking like this about people's lives) in the market. The MFC have managed to get ourselves the best deal we could and seriously this is all we can ask from the club at this time of year, to do the best with what you've got. I wish Brock well for his future, he has been a good servant to this club we love and that should never be forgotten. This deal seems to be a winner (at least on face value) for all parties involved - Brock, the MFC and the CFC. But I do dearly hope that we completely destroy him and his Blues at every available opportunity in the future. Just my opinion !!!
