  1. Glad someone else picked this up. So frustrating to watch. We have a few issues at present but that is one of them. He’s been doing it here and there but last week he started doing it more often than not and butchered it. Who’s telling him to do it? It’s a plan Z option to randomly bully and scatter the contest once or twice a game if that, not a ligament tactic. Does he not trust his inside mids to get the job done? No one can read it, not our mids or forwards. You might get one lucky kick here and there but it’s under 9’s stuff.
  2. Old Man Rivers is spot on: "The decisions in the next 3 months will shape our next decade massively." and the supporters who continually pump money into this club. I'm no hypocrite, I've pumped $10's of 1000's into this club, been a member of this site as long as anyone, been to every game I can get to, and always supported this club 100%. My whole family does. But there comes a time when you've had enough of simple, easy things, that our players have never been good at. The U/18 team I coach have better skills. I've kept quite long enough. And I want my feelings to be known. End of spiel.
  3. I've had enough. I've had enough of players who can't kick, can't handball, can't mark, can't gut run. Simple football stuff. They just stand stand still like witches hats. The occasional jog by Moloney. Sylvia all muscle no heart. McDonald & Jones trying to break tackles. They play backyard football. Tapscott - go back to Casey and learn how to be accountable. Martin, Petterd, Davey, Rivers, Jurrah, Garland, Green all do the good occasional thing. So what? Same inconsistent crud for years. Jamar who believes in his own hype. One year of football doesn't make you a good player. Brad Green captain?? He's never been a leader. Weak choice. Bate, Newton, Morton, Dunn, Bartram - who drafted these spuds?? A broom needs to go through the MFC - CEO, football & recruitment staff, fitness & weights staff, whinging front-running players. Recruit premiership experienced staff only. Period. I give up until real change happens.
  4. Sorry, didn't read your post correctly - my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. I'd agree with the VC though - others I'd consider are Frawley & Trengove. Would you consider Watts if his form continued to grow over the next 12-18 months?
  5. Jordie is still learning how to play his role, and football in general. He'll tell you that. Melbourne needs a player that can make a captain's impact - kick the important goal, lay the important tackle, lift players that need it, and someone who demands respect from his peers. Could be Jordie in a few years, but he has a lot of growth to do yet. Give it to Beamer or Sylvia, or both. Make the club tough from the top and it will filter down. Green has always been a soft frontrunner.
  6. I agree RE: Sylvia as captain. He has all the attributes. He should be in the leadership group next year at the bare minimum.
  7. Colin "tweeted" this today: "After some intense icing over the past couple of days! " the cork " is coming up quite well!!! Watched water for elephants last nite 3.5/5 !"
  8. We are as bad as ive seen us in the last 10 years. Hard to watch when you know there is no hope whatsoever.
  9. Half time performance far more entertaining than the game.
  10. In case anyone is interested.. the radio show i produce interviewed Ron and it will be on the air today. It's the Jono & Dano Show... on GOLD 104, WSFM, 4KQ and many other stations around Australia... And we will play it after 4pm. He is a lovely guy, and we talk to him about the Grand Final, touch on his playing days and also the MFC. You will have to excuse the guys, as they are not big sporting people, and it's not a sporting show... but i tried to get a few questions in. Jono is a new MFC supporter. DJ.
  11. I have also had terrible dealings in regards to responses by the MFC. Offered them a fairly high profile radio/media opportunity.. and even if they didn't want it... they could have at least replied. If someone could forward me Schwabby's email i'd appreciate it. Speaking of which my show interviewed Ron Barassi and i will be uploading it for those who are interested. Delved a little bit into his life and spoke about the MFC, Jimmy, and his thoughts on a second team in West Sydney. Very nice guy.
  12. I've just forwarded the link to everyone on my contact list... all work employee's... everyone... Alot of people who aren't as passionate as us, although may still pledge $50, may not hear much about the site even after the launch, so spread the word people! footy_minister
  13. This might mean nothing, but i thought it was interesting. I was on the Gold Coast for the Get Smart premier a couple of weeks ago, and at the after party a few of the Lions boys were there (Merrit, Selwood, Brown ect) all hanging together... anyway then i saw Travis walk in, separately to the other players, and didn't even acknowledge, or get acknowledged, by the other players. It was a small room too. Just seemed weird that they wouldn't really even say hi, or talk. He did have a very good looking lady by his side though. footy_minister
  14. You're right Neita3000... I joined demonland years ago and have read the site daily since. I'm not much of a 'poster' though, as you can tell. As many of us believe, Daniher's development skills are questionable to say the least. I like what Bailey has done so far. footy_minister
  15. Bailey 'Project Player' Development Plan 150 Just looking at some game statistics on the three young Melbourne project players coming through. It is widely recognised that Dean Bailey is a teacher of the game, and it thought maybe I could find a trend to how he develops his youngsters. Here are three that I am closely watching… GAMES 2008 Simon Buckley ROUND 1, 2 – break - ROUNDS 8, 9, 10 – break (possibly to return this week) Chris Johnson ROUND 3,4 – break - 12, 13 (will most likely be in this weeks side) Colin Garland ROUND 1, 2, 3 – Break - 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 It may mean nothing, but it seems Bailey is giving these kids a taste of the big time with a couple of games, shows them the standard they have to be at, sends them back to Sandy with hunger to play AFL footy, and brings them back 5 or so weeks later really wanting to play, knowing what to expect. It’s worked for Garland, and Johnson is looking better for it. Buckley needs more work but if he comes back this weekend the trend continues. It may seem simple but it may just be Bailey’s development plan. Giving these kids a taste, not putting the pressure on to dominate (ie Garland in his first few games), and bringing them back a month later with hunger and the standard set. I dare say Valenti is being treated the same way… he was probably always going to be dropped, regardless of how he played. Bailey gave him the taste, then sent him back, and will bring him back a month later (ie. now) Shane Valenti ROUND 8, 9 – Break – (In contention this week) Look forward to see how he handles Martin being a project player. Sorry if this seems simple! But if a young player gets dropped, it may be a deliberate part of the development plan. footy_minister
