That Essendon game being canned was always going to come back and bite. Another brutal run of matches, all in warmer conditions no less.
-
Go Preussy you did thing. Massive game to come in for as well. And hopefully it is just a case of playing it safe with Gawn and he isn’t out for too long.
-
If Preussy is fit, he plays. It’s the only option I’ve seen that I like. Weid and TMac forward with Preuss in the ruck is workable. TMac or Tomlinson having to ruck full time would make us seriously vulnerable imo.

He's just a very solid pick up Fills a glaring need - tick Young - tick Didn't have to overpay - tick

Collingwood have needed an armchair ride from the umps and have had less scoring shots than Adelaide. We simply must beat them on Saturday.

Dees on Brink of Another Trade Disaster
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree these next 2 games are season defining. We have lost to the top teams, we've beaten the bottom teams, now let's see where we stand with 2 other sides in the hunt for the bottom half of the 8. Both games are definitely winnable too. -
And it’s only the Gabba, upper tier isn’t that “upper”.
-
I’m just happy to get tickets after last time
-
Special mention to Rivers, I’m really liking the look of him, particularly his first game v Carlton and then again last night. All 3 of last year’s draftees are showing lots of promise.
-
Don’t know what to make of that. It was a training run.

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne

I try hard to not be an umpire whinger, but [censored] hell, that was an absolute disgrace. -
GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne

I’m keeping an eye on our mid sized forwards today. All of Melksham, Fritsch and Hannan are averaging below 10 touches a game. All are dangerous but we can’t carry 3 low possession players like that in a forward line that already has 2 talls and a genuine small (Pickett). -
Malthouse’s Damning Assessment of Another Wasted Year
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don’t understand the “what do they stand for comment” as well. Assume he is talking about on field, and tbh we probably have the most identifiable “brand” of footy in the comp (unfortunately, it’s just not a very good one) -
Normally I would have preferred Preuss, but the fact he hasn’t played any sort of game in however long makes it hard. Not a fan of the Spargo selection, but let’s see.
-
He played forward at the start of his career and did well. It would be a mix of high half forward and wing. He has the ability to find the ball so I’m not sure where the idea he can’t has come from. And imo we have one too many in our forward line who are low possession/high impact players as it is, in the likes of Fritsch, Melksham, Pickett and Hannan, so I think he would balance that out a bit and add a bit of calmness to our attack.

Butler is a prime example of why you don’t shoot down posters for raising a delisted or out of favour player as a potential recruit. There are good players there who can offer something. Not that he fills a need for us, but Greenwood for Gold Coast is recruit of the year for me. For next to nothing, he adds a much needed big body around the ball for a young team. He’d go close to being Adelaides best player this year,
-
I think most agree we need to balance our midfield, but the simple fact of the matter is you don’t trade a player like Oliver.
-
Viney our would hurt, he’s been great this year. But the silver lining is that if there is any position we have coverage for, it’s for an inside mid.

Gawn in Doubt Against Kangaroos
Forest Demon replied to Gawndy the Great's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would honestly prefer see TMac put on ice for the year to give him one last crack at getting his foot right for the future. Preuss is a solid back up ruckman, but it does make you nervous when he's only just re-joined the group and hasn't played anything like a real game for god knows how long. -
There are some trash teams this year, and thankfully we haven’t played many of them yet
-
I don’t believe he was set on Carlton, he just wanted to get back and they were the ones who showed the most intent, although not enough intent obviously. We should definitely be having a long hard look.
-
I would move him up the ground. Rivers to come in and play half back.
-
Favourite bit was that little dweeb, McHenry I think, running around continuously trying to rough up Gawn and a few others. Went to do it to May and May just sat him on his [censored]. The look on May’s face was priceless.
-
6 - Oliver - trade bait? ? 5 - Viney - having a very good year 4 - May - love his physicality and leadership down back 3 - Petracca - not quite, but still good 2 - Harmes - thought he was good, in the first half especially 1 - Jackson - doing a great job for a young fella
-
Agree re Bennell. For me, this year is all about getting up to speed again.
