PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
I think their form can be reflected a lot in just the pure forward lineup instability and insanity of our forward entries this season. I hope JVR, BB, Koz and Chandler (with Fritta missing at the moment) are just put in the same side sooner than later and given 4 continuous weeks of decent delivery to get into a solid goal kicking, match winning groove together.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
If we leave him out this week, he'll be sitting around for the VFL bye. So, then another week in the VFL after that? It doesn't give him time to settle in with BB before the finals in my opinion. I think we've got to get him back in as another tall and leave Petty in his best role in defence. JVR had a pretty quiet game last week. I wonder if he's dropped his head a bit after getting dropped? Sache kicked 4 but he doesn't physically compete like JVR

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
I would expect it's because running it down a wing with 50 handballs allows the opposition to flood into our forward 50 and clog it up so it rebounds out or we try and kick snaps in a congested forward line. We're switching but doing it very deep and slowly (Barry white style baby uhuh). Might want to take on the corridor a bit more aggressively. Not at the game either,. 😜

PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Gee we're looking wobbly. Missing out best midfielder (which we're proving we can cover) And Missing our best goal kicker (which we could in theory cover) If We change our tactics The one huge benefit we have is that St Kilda would be expecting us to play exactly the same way we have for the past 6 to 8 weeks. So, we could catch them out if we actually took the corridor on, moved it fast and lowered our eyes for short kicks to forwards leading into space. JVR, BB and Kozzie could get it done if we just changed the way we play. Who's confident we will?

Garry Lyon analysis
Yeah that footage of sparrow with his back to the kicker 60m out makes me think they know the ball will always go deep to a pack. The same with all three forwards sprinting deep into our f50. No-one turned to lead out or sideways into space. They were all leading deep towards the square / pocket. I suspect the instructions are just "go deep into our f50" and we'll lock it in and win it with contested ball "because that's our brand" It's a flawed strategy because everyone (including the opposition) knows pretty much where it's going to go. As is mentioned in numerous other threads and probably this one, good teams hit targets leading into space 30 to 40m out. The Pickett lead shown was a good example. He also delivered a fantastic pass to someone across goals in the first quarter too instead of blazing away. You rarely see that from us. Remember how frustrating it was getting with the kick it long along the wing and then our forwards leading into the pocket last year? We are pretty much back there again. I remember the pre-season threads about how we were playing more daring footy through the centre corridor and moving it into the forward line fast. We seem to have regressed a lot. If there were only 4 marks inside f50 in that last game, we are probably not even having many simple set shots that aren't hard against the boundary. It may be a contributor to why our accuracy is so bad too and why our set shot kicking is generally carp.
