  1. Yeah, I'd prefer BBB over TMac too. I think his form has been better. However.... It's now or never for TMac. He really can't afford another poor performance. Maybe they're giving him one last chance. If he can't deliver then I assume they'll settle for a Fritta, JVR and BBB forward line and give them time to get cohesive in the second half of the season. Hope he has a belter.
  2. Just posted this on the Meeting Place thread but I'll chuck it over here too Really nice interview with Eddie Betts and Nev Jetta last night. Nev has worked with Eddie to launch the Eddie Betts foundation - https://eddiebetts.foundation/ Hope Nev ends up back with us at some point in the future. Love the bloke. For those in Perth (D'landers feel free to tag WA members in case they're interested), he's doing a fundraiser night / Q&A with his cousin Lewis Jetta for a junior footy club soon. Buggered if I could find any details online. Would be interesting to hear their stories about finding their way into the AFL.
  3. mmm, links to Twitter. Here's the link to the map for those not on twitter https://aiatsis.gov.au/explore/map-indigenous-australia

  5. I think that's part of the problem. The statement from the heart- Truth, Voice, Treaty and the upcoming referendum should not be about politics. I reckon this is about our nation's values into the future and how we walk forward with our first nation's people together as a nation. Politics just get's in the way and muddies the water. BTW, Nev Jetta is on AFL360 tonight 💖
  6. I live near Ballina in northern NSW, Bundjalung country and it surprises me to hear so many people complain about name changes. When it's not. It's just recognising language and the incredible culture that's been here for so long. Ballina sits on the mouth of the Richmond and "river" in Bundjalung is "bullinah" So the locals are already using language without realising it! I reckon at least one third of country towns are probably named in a similar way.
  7. After watching our game last night, pushing in the back with both hands appears now to be completely legal. It's just against the spirit of the game to see a player well positioned in front of his opponent to be just shoved completely out of the contest. And, it's dangerous. It will lead to a serious collision with some shoved headfirst into a contest. I'm watching our players do it now and I don't blame them. Everyone is getting away with pushing in the back. At some point the media will point it out and the. There'll be a weekend of pushing in the back free kicks before it's forgotten about again. Frustrating for everyone involved. Why did they allow hands in the back in the first place? It was obvious the likes of Hawkins, Lynch etc were going to exploit it.
  8. Kick a bag this weekend Roo
  9. I'm at Wardell
  10. Remember that announcement at gather round and Gil was on the phone out on the field just "making it up as he went along"
  11. I took the time to sign up as a demonland life member. Thanks so much to everyone that keeps this site up and running. I spend way too much time on it.
  12. @WalkingCivilWar can the club get sanctioned for having *#$_&@ the AFL On our banner this week? Would be worth the fine I reckon
  13. Haha is anyone looking at the blog or are we all on here expecting some is!
  14. Vicki Pollard
  15. Are they sitting down to dinner? Or doing buckets bongs or both?
  16. Yeah our arguments at both appeals don't seem very strong
  17. Is that reasonable? 😁
  18. Afl360 was interesting last night. Robbo seemed to be surprisingly on point. He asked Whateley the question, so if a defender comes from behind with a swinging arm to the head in an attempt to spoil, which happens all the time, that should be banned? Whateley said no! Yet JVR went in with a straight arm and glanced him with his bicep and that's not ok? Whateley said no, that's not ok. They both were puzzled over the charge of striking. I think this will be how he gets off. He never swung an arm to strike at any point.
  19. Love the summation
  20. Mmm, I've always had to reconcile my feelings about the AFL by accepting they are basically operate as a political organisation. It's all about optics and grabbing more power. You want a footy team in Tassie? Build a new stadium with 3 thousand extra seats before we could possibly enter a team. Allegations of racism at Hawthorn? High profile coach at the centre of it has not even been interviewed yet. Betting scandal involving an umpire?....Crickets. Criticism that the game is a bit slow? Keep changing the rules making it more complex and irrational. Umpiring standards are woeful? Just chuck another one on the field. Litigation by former players around CTE? Better look like we're doing something about it. Let's find a scapegoat = MFC and JVR. They are a 7 X 24 spin cycle mates club machine. The AFL acts like a political party. It's all about how it looks. The only way JVR gets off is if the media howls the AFL down. So far so good. Even if he gets off, nothing will really change unless people stop attending or watching. If it wasn't for my passion for the MFC, there's no way I would be watching or attending this weird circus.
  21. [email protected] Having a wild stab that might possibly be his email. Might be nice to puff his inbox up a bit. Wouldn't bother with Gil
  22. Only if Max lies down on the ground and waits for a stretcher and..... it was not a high profile player from a high profile club who punched him in the head.
  23. Right there with ya @Dee Zephyr. Gotta stand up for the club but also have to stand up for this kid. I just loved his season last year. He's such a wonderful competitor who doesn't take a backwards step but just plays it hard AND FAIR. what a crappy thing for him to have to go through. The AFL is a media driven disgrace and the club must see this through now.

Watched a replay of the 3rd qtr today and noticed that myself. Had to rewind and watch at normal speed to try and work out how King got a free kick dead in front 10 metres out. Still NFI
