  1. I reckon the whole season so far is very similar to the blokes last year. We're playing well for half a game most weeks and just getting the job done without being great. You can see Daisy, Paxman, Bannon, Lauren Pearce, West etc just building into the season and slowly gaining confidence. We could find another gear yet. Time for Zanker to switch on. Harris, what a set of hands she has and just hard at it. Loved Bannons running goal. Two Lions players stopped to watch if it would bounce through. She just kept running into the goal square to make sure it went through. Great win (and a stupid free at the end) Go Dees
  2. I thought the move into the backline really straightened us up when we needed it.
  3. Yeah similar boat for us in northern NSW. Going to do the road trip down for round one. As long term interstate members, we're keen to get good seats etc.
  4. Comedy gold. What has happened to his nose? Didn't ask the big questions for mine. Could it have just been the players being nervous and soiling themselves? How will Selwood duck while using a wheely walker? Which other AFL captains does he consider come close to pulling cheap frees as well as Joel? Has Scott considered a run at federal politics? Has he considered just forfeiting once they make the finals? I really hope they do make the finals again.
  5. Yep, I thought Lauren was clearly best on ground and made a huge difference to our mids getting their hands on the footy more often this week. The team are in a funny place at the moment. Quite similar to the blokes early last year. Doing enough to win games with little spurts of brilliance but definitely not consistent enough yet. If they can string some of their good passages into a four quarter effort, they can still go close this year. I thought Birch played really well down back. I'm loving watching MacNamara get better and better and Daisy and Harris are really starting to combine well up front. As for the comments about the women being scrappy, yep of course they are but the standard is improving year on year. You can still appreciate our team going in hard and giving their all for the club. I still find them entertaining to watch and I think women's footy is going to be really important for growing our young supporter base over the next decade. Go Dees
  6. Big shout out to the commentators, calling scragging kicks off the ground acrobatic and sublime by Adelaide players was Scomo like. Making out that it was the Adelaide's defence which got the result when it was the defensive tackling pressure by their forwards and midfield was as smart as looking at their against tally's this season and making stupid assumptions. Umpires... As someone mentioned the holding the ball, incorrect disposal decisions were all over the shop. Baffling. Anyways, Adelaide's pressure was superb and our ensuing disposals were woeful. Good last quarter but we should have swung the midfield changes a couple of minutes into the third. Goldrick into the guts looked really good. Daisy probably should have been put into the fray earlier as well even though she did well up forward once we started to get momentum. Looks like the opposition knows how to beat us once they apply tackling pressure and plug the gaps. I think we've got the talent. There's some work to do on defensive pressure, disposal and connection.
  7. It was Gus with his work on the field and that interview with Gary Lyon where he talked about how this was for everyone that really summed it up for me. He was the one that kept grinding away when the game was in the balance and then summed it up so we'll post match. Heart and Soul.
  8. Well done to St Kilda for the first three quarters. They really tackled well and plugged up the holes across the ground to block up our running game. Our defence did pretty well early on. Great last quarter and a bot like the blokes last year. As long as we keep winning, that's all that matters. Should be a cracking game next week.
  9. How was that not 50?
  10. No offence to Teegs Cunningham but she made great position but just couldn't hold a mark or convert. Having Harris down there this year with Daisy and Fitzpatrick is chalk and cheese for our forward line this year. No idea what she's paid.
  11. Looking like an arm wrestle when we needed a good win. Just not clean enough with posessions and kicking at goal. Hope this doesn't turn into the loss that costs us at the end of the season.
  12. Three good passages of play where she wrecked it by kicking mongrels.
  13. Great running pass by Hoare to Harris who marks and kicks a goal for us. Saints 8 Dees 6
  14. Good pressure by the Saints. We're really rushing every possession because of it. Domnated by the saints so far but we're defending pretty well. Saints by 7
  15. I think it stands and I look forward to many games of watching us hit that line HARD. I loved the fact the players supposedly got the message to ice the game in the last QTR and they evidently laughed and kept running. As mentioned above, there were lots of years where we got five goals up and wobbled. Lots of post game threads wondering why we weren't ruthless enough. Keep the bar set high at 8 goals I reckon. It would be interesting to know how many games we've won since that Essendon game by 48 points or more and how long it will take us to surpass that win tally. I wonder how many games we lost by 48 points or more versus won by 48 points. I want to see more reverse floggings where we are the flogger not the flogee (geez this sounds wrong). You know what I mean.
  16. Did Selwood or Dangerfield get a run?
  17. Yeah, she scampered for home before the end of the season last year. She's in the squad but maybe not back yet?
  18. Yeah me too. She's tough as nails and just got better as the season went on last year. Anyways, I think I banged on about team selections at the start of the year for the blokes last year and look what happened.
  19. Anyone know why Sinead Goldrick isn't back in the team? We really missed her run off half back at the end of last season. Great to see the girls back into it. Go Dees
  20. Yeah, his kicking is something else now. He's really improved this area of his game. https://youtu.be/zGpM5o6q34Y
  21. Coming down from northern NSW. Had to miss the celebrations. I'm not missing the grand old flag going up. The only way to get a prime time Friday slot is to keep winning flags and grow our supporter base right across the country. TV Ratings rule. It's a bummer about the annual leave we will burn for this but we'll be there with you all. Let's fill the G and smash them again. Can't wait.
  22. By the look of those photos, Tomlinson might have stolen Jack's spot as the angry beast of the team. He wants back in.
