  1. If only the club can wrangle a Ben and Jerry's sponsorship deal.
  2. Your not alone. The cost of living these days is intense. My 19 yol son is eating his weight in food and it ain't cheap. I'm sure the club is hemorrhaging members as a result of inflation. Some of these players don't know how lucky they are with their salaries. And yet 2024 saw record crowd numbers.
  3. I will continue to support our club by eating as much burgered beef as possible.
  4. If only I had a quid for every post that opens with the word rubbish. Great to have passion but it comes across as fairly arrogant IMHO. Can we all try and take it down a notch or two this year. Let's make Dl a positive and enjoyable site for everyone in 2025 you bunch of.....
  5. No doubt about Chef, it's going to be interesting watching how are forward lines goes. I thought Jvr would have a better season than he did last year but he went ok. I was hoping he may be the next Curnow. Big call but it's still early days. Having been forced into the middle was probably disruptive to his craft. Petty is still a huge concern for me if He plays forward. And I want to see more effort ....more chasing and pressure acts from Fritta who sometimes didn't seem to give his all. I want Kozzie closer to the goals as much as possible.
  6. I see him pretty much as a winger in a permanent role. He is one player that I'm keen to see play. I think he will be one of our future stars. Off topic , I'm keen to see what Disco does this year. I hope we see him dominating up forward. And I'm enthusiastic about young Brown too.
  7. There is still a hell of a lot of talent on our list but I think my call of sixth may be a generous one. I'm concerned about a few things now that I've read and reflected on a few things. Our backline is still rock solid although last year it didn't perform as well as some other seasons. Salo has been in and out of form due to injury or illness. Hasn't been that great weapon of his accurate and penetrating kicks out of trouble I don't think Bowey has been the same since his shoulder injury. May isn't getting younger and Petty has been used up forward. Thankfully some new blood has stepped up and even some old in Tmac re reinventing himself down there. Moving to the middle will be where most of us are looking at. Rotating Nibbler through there is no longer a powerful option. Oliver.....well who knows what he will do. There is a cloud over Tracc. What impact his recent injuries and issues will have? Sparrow hasn't really gone to the next level. And we have kept players like Billings. Up forward ...a constant source of angst for most supporters is also a mystery. Where will all our goals come from? I look at our flag and we had so many goal scorers in Tmac, Bbb, Snb, Kozzie, Tracc Spargo and Jackson. Who will score them all in 2025? I'm going out on a limb calling position l 6 because I'm hoping Tracca, Oliver and Viney and Max play like they did four years ago and are the propellant of our success. That our backline doesn't suffer too many injuries and stands firm for another season. Up forward I'm hoping for a breakout year for Jvr and Petty to surprise us all. There are a few others not least of all, Fritta who I am expecting to be up there on the Coleman ladder. I mean it's a case of finishing top 4 to 6 or completely imploding and finishing bottom 4. I believe Goody will extract enough talent out of what is still a strong list . Am missing footy so much. The test matches were awesome but the big bash just doesn't do it for me.
  8. In typical Australian fashion a Happy Oz day declaration doesn't get done till after one. So Happy Australia Day. The greatest country in the world not just because it's girted by sea, but because of mateship, courage, fairness and loyalty. All the attributes of the Mfc. And it's people. Like Mr N. Daniher. Cheers.
  9. Don't forget to swing by the clinic on the way home from the airport big fellow. And remember too, to send cards to all the little Uncles on their birthdays. Cheers Litd.
  10. I wish it was Carlton and hopefully Geelong but sadly , it's probably going to be other teams.
  11. Well said Deevout. He is the personification of courage and strength. An incredible human being and despite the term being thrown around....a true inspiration.
  12. What happened to the I'm thinking emoji?
  13. Okay fellow Dlanders, I'm going to call that we will finish 6th this season. Hopefully we don't suffer too many injuries this year and our midfield gets back to its prime which sees us into the finals. I imagine that the giants and dogs slip out. Not long now. Go Dees.
  14. Our backline has been one of the best for a long time. Issues lately are a few players getting long in the tooth and some injury concerns. I'm more worried about our forward line again.
  15. How is Turner travelling? He may be a surprise package this year.
  16. Umm...gee I don't know . Oh wait, maybe because it once landed us one of the best ruckmen in the comp.
  17. Yet ironically many Afl players don't suck at basketball. Outside of Irish footy , are there any codes that are compatible with ours? Ice hockey or MMA may be worth investigating simply to have a few off their chain when we play Cwood .
  18. I think we have done fairly well in this department. Certainly in our premier year, it played a huge part. Particularly our half backs. But from our fullbacks too who are obviously not small in stature. But in the traditional sense of "goalsneaking" and the simple accumulation of our score, we have been and are now lacking . Looking at our flag year, shows a number of small players that contributed significantly in scoring in the role of crumbing around players like, Jackson, Tmac and Max...we had Kozzie, Sparticus, Nibbler and stretching to Langers, addingl around 90 sausage rolls. Fritta is an interesting player in that he can play a high flying tall and a small crumbing goalsneak. Kozzie was the main contributing player so if he's out there's not much left. I'll put Tracc in the same category as Fritta who is no slouch in kicking a few from out of nowhere.
  19. Possibly not. I'm happy to see the back of one of those players though We will however suffer from the absence of Anb. And as much as I would love Captain Hogan back, May has has been well worth it and a Keystone to our whole team. I just hope we can hold to Kozzie after his contract clicks over. Is players leaving is always a risk but it's not really that common given the amount of them. On the whole most posters here have been correct in stating that it's worked for our benefit than detract. I've sometimes wondered why clubs haven't looked at USA basketballers for ruckmen and NFL for some defenders. As an aside, I think our club has often been quite sympathetic and accommodating to players that have needed time off to go home on occasions.
  20. Good post SoNS. Recruiting outside of Victoria has been very successful for us Especially the great Sean Wight and the superstar Jim Stynes. God rest their wonderful souls.
  21. I just really wanted to use the thumbs down response for the first time. I feel like Caesar.
  22. Since Kozzie has been used in the middle quite a bit we seem to be lacking in small forwards. I thought Chandler was going to be a gold mine of goals when he started but he's more of a dynamic kind of flanker than a goalsneak. In any event Chandler hasn't really maintained the very high standards he set in his early games. Spargo has been reasonably consistent in this position but was played in different roles at times and that combined with injuries has seen him wanting in his earlier capacity. Anb has done well as a goalsneak but he too has been used , rightly I might add, in different roles. Gee we will miss him. McAdam while not really a type that would play this role hasn't really performed in any. Young Brown looks the goods but again the club has failed somewhat in solving another forward line issue. Given that Petty has really struggled to clunk marks, a successful crumber has been greatly missed. I wonder if it's worth rolling the dice with Bowey but probably a case of robbing Peter..... But the role of crumbing has become very important in the modern game and we seem to have come up short of shorts. Pun intended.
  23. Spargo has been out for a while and Chandler starts with a bang but seems to lose form. Brown may be our best option after KP.
