  1. We were getting greedy. It was just mesmerising stuff though. I love how Tracs confidence has grown and why should it not. Most of the year he was channelling his inner dusty martin with his own dont argue. Hes just not afraid of being tackled and backs his own strength and always manages to get a handball off if stuck. He may not be our fastest player in a long race but hes certainly got some explosive acceleration off the mark and uses it very well. His worm goal was incredible and I think Trac turned and celebrated before it had even got home, Now thats confidence.
  2. I think most people have been supporting us. It seems the crowd was pro Dees. The drought of flags creates sympathy and support. Much like I was excited for the dogs to win a few years back and then the Tigers. But we are all a fickle bunch. I know I was getting tired of the tigers success just as I dislike the cats. Too much turns one off. Which is a strange tall poppy thing I guess. But certainly we love an underdog (no pun intended) and of all teams to smash in a GF I was hoping it wasnt the dogs as I feel they have been suffering like us. I wouldn't begrudge them a couple more cups but I want us to get them first. Aside from the glory of it all its great for fans to see a non dominating club get up. Its tiring to see the same old clubs get the glory. On this basis I have a soft spot for St kilda. I imagine if we win three or four on the trot we will become unliked but I think we can handle it. I wonder how this club compares to other very successful premier teams like the Lions etc? Are we good enough to create a legacy of three? I know we do with the players ages and I guess a lot will depend upon injuries and perhaps recruiting. But with our dynamic midfield and up and coming young recruits I believe we really will be contenders again over the next five years. How exciting the next few years will be. Imagine winning back to back flags. It would also be great for many of us to actually see it happen at the G as well. I'm keen to see how Fritta and BBb go next year too. It will also be exciting just to see how many of our young players will progress, there's a couple there that will be superstars of the game I reckon. What a strange feeling it will be when the season starts next year and we watch with confidence and expectations of winning. Oh yes indeedy..... its a great time to be a follower of the grand old flag.
  3. I still dont understand how he marked that ball when he was practically standing next to the bloke who kicked it. Then he kicked it. I think he has kicked about four all year. Not bad when one of them puts you in front on grand final day. Put his body on the line all day. Didn't star like Langdon did but he has been a very reliable player all year and I know is very well liked by all in the club.
  4. I do believe his form did take a fair dive. However you raise some very pertinent points and that Tmac did a few things that were not noticed or appreciated by a few. we also don't know what instructions each player is following. The main point for me was simply Toms blinding return to form for the first half of the season without which we would have really struggled to score. .
  5. i reckon we were close to getting four goals in that last minute. Trac was almost about to launch but got caught. Its still a remarkable time for the club and I don't get tired of watching it. How many times have we watched games we we have conceded a goal the last minute of the quarter? Way too many. Imagine being a dogs supporter with the last 60seconds and Brown kicking into that pocket. You would be crossing your fingers thinking please don't give up a goal here, But conceding THREE. if it happened to us I think my head would have exploded. There was a camera pan to some dogs fans after it all and the look on their faces was just silenced shock. If it wasn't for the incredible elation I was experiencing, I may have felt sorrow for them. The strange thing was the dogs conceded another two in the first two of the last. A four goal lead wasn't impossible to chase. I think they were just broken from that last minute.
  6. That effort of his that Daisy pointed out where he still kicked the ball while being tackled by two players was as Bt said.....freakish.
  7. Off a step it powered all the way home. Sparrows kick was pretty similar. Both very strong players.
  8. Well the standard was better than the last time we played them.
  9. To keep this thread going I would like to add that this flag has big implications regarding membership. Obviously current ones will sign up again but lapsed members will jump back on. Also winning flags is the best member/ new supporters drive possible. Win a couple and I reckon our ranks will swell with new young barrickers. Would love to see the club have bigger crowds and attract more airtime and money.
  10. Really believe we haven't seen the best of Charlie. I wouldnt mind seeing him spend some time in the middle but I guess there's not much room for him. Great goal sense and although he doesn't amass high possies he is always very efficient with his disposal. Runs as all game and for his size is a very strong tackler. Get the feeling he will really hit the scoreboard harder in the years to come. Apologies if I repeat myself I just realised I posted in this thread previously. Oh well, I guess he deserves the praise.
  11. Must admit I wasn't confident. Ironically in the prelim he couldn't miss the goals and was potting them from everywhere. I have always thought Max never looked at the goals enough when shooting ie the direction he was kicking but in that Round 23 shot he seemed to concentrate on this more than usual. He did look nervous. I love the way he celebrates after scoring especially his famous boundary goal. Obviously he's worked hard on his kicking and has stamped himself now after all this time as a genuine ruck/ forward at just the right time with young Luke J moving up. Tx Max. He's very respected by players and loved by fans. For good reason.
  12. Was a great call by the club to make him captain. Certainly leads 100% by example and as passionate about his footy and the club one can be. I just hope he can play up for another five. His efforts in the prelim will never be forgotten.
  13. Strange news regarding Marty Hore. We will watch him star elsewhere I guess.
  14. I feel Jack Viney hasnt been appreciated enough. He had struggled a bit this year with injuries. Really stepped up in his last five games and while overshadowed by stellar mids in Trac and Oliver, he certainly played a big part in our success. Displayed some silky skills above his usual hard tackling and racked up a large number of possessions with much better disposal. With him playing like that more consistently gives us the best midfield ever.
  15. We will merge into our gf thread and of next year old dee.
  16. Well said. Our most improved player by a mile for me after Kozzie. I reckon he found more than five % and has gone to a new level. Certainly fixed his goal kicking and seems to have become a lot more smoother. As you mentioned less fumbling. His running and tackling efforts are very, very good.
  17. I dont mind Bt. He goes early too often and calls points goals and makes a meal of players names but I love his genuine enthusiasm. Boy oh boy. I imagine I'd do the same calling a game. Brayshaw tries a little too hard but i enjoyed his bang bang bang bang.
  18. Probably told them how hard they had worked and to win the next twenty mins.
  19. Just watched the replay with the SEN commentary on youtube. In the three quarter break on screen they posted that .. Since 1984 only Geelong ( 2009 v saints) has won the flag when trailing at 3/4 time. I wish i knew watching the game but i suppose after that last min goal spree at the end of the third i felt a little confident.
  20. How far do people think Fritta was to winning the medal? Must have been close. He could have easily had seven.
  21. Has to be the cats. Put them out of their misery early.
  22. Ditto but I can understand how one can get greedy and want another four or five of these. Bring on 2022.
  23. Yea hes a talent. I thought he and Jordan were similar but Sparrow seems a lot stronger and has a great goal sense. Goody made the right choice in Sparrow over Jordan. That 50 m goal off a step was Trac like. Not bad for a youngster. His kick to Bbb was cm perfect and he was cool enough not to blaze away. Watch this player I reckon.
  24. I wonder how Adam T gets back in the side? A nice problem to have but one nonetheless. I guess it depends what team we play but you cant say Petty comes out for him. Also I cant wait to see Kozzie keep improving. Was hot snd cold this year...mostly good but I reckon he will be a superstar.
  25. I retreated from the family lounge into my bedroom and sulked watching it there. Not for long though.
