GAMEDAY: SF vs Carlton
Pretty sure your not alone in thinking this. Throw in Spargo whose been out of this team for a while and yea, it's a nervous wait. And Tom McDonald you have been given quite a few chances. But Im hoping Fritta will excel in these dry conditions and Kozzie and Chandler to put on the proverbial clinic. Let's move the ball into our fwd line with speed and precision. No way Viney will have another quiet one. He will dominate tonight. The big factor in this game is motivation. I imagine this close knit bunch are still fuming over poor Gus. Not just the dog act itself but over all the pundits who supported it. The same ones who are delighting in hoping we lose four finals in a row. Aint gunna happen. If Gus does the pregame talk, we will win this on pure adrenaline. This will not be a slow start. The blues caught us napping a few times last game we met, but things have changed. If I can quote that strange orange man, I think this will be a game of "fire and fury" from us. I'm still so pi33ed off, I just want us to play a gf now so we can have some old fashioned justice. And I know it's wrong to advocate violence but I just really don't care. The Afl certainly doesn't.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Would have been good if Jordan Lewis stood up for Gus.

Salem Thyroid Concern
There's a big difference bw Salos best and being solid. He is an elite player and your right he came back in such good form he stood out. Lately, not so much.

Are we struggling under the weight of scrutiny?
I have always thought the crowds influence umpires but I thought we had a good run v the pies. But you make a good point.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Well said Shaun Smith. Maynard ran a long time before he jumped. He has form. It was his first act of the game. It's hard not to want a lot more of these smothers so the Afl do something .

Are we struggling under the weight of scrutiny?
I know the club, coach and players have media comittments but sometimes I wish we would just go quiet before big games.

What They are Saying at Princes Park - SF
I'm still so angry with Maynard and now the Afl. I reckon the team would be ropeable.

Beware 1958 v Collingwood
As per usual Layzie you help make DL educational. You would be banned from a pies forum.

Are we struggling under the weight of scrutiny?
As an aside, it's probably worth remembering we have performed well in some big games ie KB and Anzac this year. Both were reasonably large crowds. Having said that, our slow start against the Pies must be attributed to something. We clearly took a long time to get out of first gear. But once we did , we really dominated. I think we will come out hard and strong against the Blues and win quite well. The whole Maynard hit will be a big motivation. The Lions however are a tough gig. Up there tge crowd factor really comes into play and tge lions are in pretty good form. The sad thing is if we met them in a gf at the G , we would most likely win. Oh footy , you break so many hearts. This year with injuries has been an absolute shocker. Not just tge number but the timing. We hardly ever had true cohesion all year. As hard as you train, try and as much as a club does, there's a fair bit of luck involved. Not to mention thuggery. I truly believe in a game determined by about a goal if we haven't of lost Gus , we would have won. Let's just wait three more days and see what happens Hang in there.
