I hope we as a club close ranks re the media as much as possible this year. I know there are media commitments and expectations but if I had my way I'd have players and staff talk to the media as little as possible. We seem to be the latest whipping boy and it sometimes seems they are looking for things to dump on us. I hope that we do most of our talking on the scoreboards this year . It's getting closer.

Max & Jack to Lead Again in 2024

Really surprised by this. Your posts are usually on the money. Speaking of which, as far as I'm concerned DS, it couldn't buy better leaders. Cheers. -

I will miss watching star Oppo players getting Hibbered. -
Think I'll do myself a favour and stay away from this thread. Ignorance really is bliss.

Thanks for reminding me Rif, that I come to Demonland for the information but stay for the poetry.😀

Bad games. But lost at selecting two all rounders. We don't need six bowlers given the quality of four of them. It's just silly choosing Greene and Marsh. One maybe. Also there must be other options other than Carey who averages around 23. But credit to a great effort from a young Wi team.

Why does the cricket team have two all rounders? It's not even like one of them gets to bowl much . Carey is a good wkeeper but he's no batsman. We are effectively two batsmen short.

Meanwhile I've been trying to locate some plastic straws on the black market.

You may be correct. But gee I do admire his fortitude. Though Im not sure if it's at all realistic to expect to see him or Tom play. At least in the ones. I'm sure the club knows much more than me and I hope I'm wrong but it seems like the writing was on the wall for both of these blokes two years ago. They are both part of why our fwd lines didn't deliver in the last four home finals. I know they played injured but I don't get why the club hasn't done more in 24 months to find replacements for them both. Not a few have said that anything we get from them is a bonus but it should not be that way. For me, our fwd tall stocks are an issue and the biggest worry to me this year. Petty seems injury prone and Schache never seems to get a game. I know this sounds very negative and I'm sorry if it is but am I wrong about not finding at least one more tall? Has Tommo ever played forward? Edit....I've read some reviews of Tmac training and moving well so I may well be wrong about him. It's some good news.

Happy Australia day folks.

SEVEN weeks to go. Me I like football but there's a lot of things around......

Im not sure Grundy was that good. I thought his tap work and ground skills were above par but he failed to be a marking target forward and back. He would still be a good replacement if Max went down but certainly not the best. Hopefully Fullerton provides enough support

TRAINING: Wednesday 24th January 2024
leave it to deever replied to Demonland's topic in Training Reports
Tx very much for this. I hope Tommo gets a regular gig down back this year. I didn't get why he didn't last year. -
Sorry Mr and Mrs Leg. I wasn't really serious about the misogyny accusation. It was really more of a segue into how annoying I find it too. I wonder if it actually uses more energy grunting and screaming like some of them do. A few of the blokes are pretty noisy as well. Your right it wasn't around in the fine days of Kooyong and it's a blight on the modern day if you ask me. I mean if you just had a twenty shot rally, then yea a grunt after reaching for that forehand down for the line for the point, then maybe. But a noise after every single shot is just silly.

Would won a few I reckon but more importantly it shows that we have some significant depth to our number one team. It's definitely going to be an interesting season this one, watching which players really step up and how others continue their development.- 15 replies

Don't be so sexist....it's bloody annoying from whoever does it. It puts me right off some players.

Ben Brown - third forward & back-up ruck

I remember watching an interstate game on telly during COVID. The commentator quipped that if his run up was any longer he would need to go into quarantine. -
Ben Brown - third forward & back-up ruck
leave it to deever replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would love to see Bbb fit and firing but it's been a long time since we've seen him. He's still relatively young compared to Tom Hawkins. I'm glad you still think he's a chance to get back to the team. He was the home and away leading goal kicker three years in a row at North so there's that. I don't feel positive about Tmac either. I know we have recruited some fwds but most aren't very tall. I guess anything we get from these two is a bonus. I hope I'm wrong and Bbb and Tmac go gangbusters this season. Cheers Pf. -
Ben Brown - third forward & back-up ruck

Sadly, I don't hold much hope in seeing him even get a gig up fwd. He was cooked in the 22 finals and was pretty much injured all last season. Even a fit Bbb isn't very good at rucking from what I've seen.
