GAMEDAY: Practice Match vs Carlton
leave it to deever replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know he's loved or hated but I'd seriously roll the dice and give Tommo a stint fwd if Tmac plays defence. That lack of a big body fwd then was glaring for us. -

It's on Kayo so I'd guess it's on Fox as well. Edit ..It's on Fox Footy -
Based on the Maynard precedent he walks away without a slap on the wrist. That's it and that's all. They have made their bed.

PREGAME: Practice Match vs Carlton

With Gus retired we really need Clayton back to his best. But I also am mindful of the fact that he needs to go at his own pace and not allow pressure and expectations to build. I'm sure he's too smart to read DL. I just hope he gets back to enjoying footy and so do all his teammates. This is going to be a tough year but this is a tough group of players too. I hope we show the media up big time and dominate the season. Really hoping for a big,big year from Jvr and Kozzie. I'd also like us to bury the Blues because these pretenders were lucky to beat us by shocking goal kicking, bad umpiring and us losing the plot in the last 60 seconds. So nothing less than an unimportant ten goal win thanks. -
Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
leave it to deever replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The media has been harsh on us. It's failed to recognize that we have had one of the most depleted forward lines around. Last year Fritta started late due to injuries which he had on and off all year and probably was never completely right Bbb was injured. Tmac was injured. Grundy wasn't a forward and couldn't mark. Jvr was playing his first year. Petty went down. Melksham stepped up but did his knee right before finals. I mean come on. It also glosses over the fact that had Maynard not knocked out Gus we probably would have beaten The Filth. -

Tx Werridee . Tmac in theory sure but is his body is up to it? I hope so but think not. Also in his five games I dont think Laurie has proved himself as yet. Otherwise you make a good case. -

Your at the top of your game. A sport you've played since you were a kid. A career forged with friendships and passion. A very lucrative career that can possibly see you financially well off for your future family. Then along comes some fanatic and ....... . I'm sure he'll still be involved in footy and the club will look after him but it would be rough watching from the sidelines especially when someone else is still playing. The fact the AFL let that someone play a grand final is a complete disgrace. -
I'm not sure he's been given ten games. Tmac could barely move in his last two games ( our finals) so I'm not sure we have much choice. I would love to see a fit Tmac running and moving freely, but I've been holding out for almost three years now.

Tx LH for all your work and informative comments. It's getting pretty skinny around here for some normal posts. -
Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?

Laurie was a not a great replacement as sub and racked up even less disposals than Gus. I fully believe that hit cost us a flag birth. -
Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?

Viney remonstrated a fair bit. I actually think they were all shell shocked. I'm pretty sure we will see some sweet deserving retribution during Kb round. I'll bet Maynard is out though beforehand due to a strained hammy or some other lame excuse. -
How about we all jump the fence too. Sorry got a bit carried away there. Good idea Kent.

From the ashes rises the strongest…
leave it to deever replied to buck_nekkid's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its a fair call that. The season hasn't started and we are a fair way behind the eight ball. Some of it with Bbb and Tmac our own fault. Most of it not though. Gus having to call it a day is a tough one. We still have fwd issues that we saw in the praccy match. Now we have problems in the middle. I don't feel all that confident anymore. I think we will make the eight but that's all. I don't think it's negative, I just think the club has been complacent . We lost 22 due to an injury depleted fwd line and didn't do much about it. And then the same thing happens the following year. What have we done? Maybe Jvr will smash it this year and Petty will have a great run. But this seems to be a big case of hopeful maybes. -

Where will the Dees finish after round 24?
leave it to deever replied to binman's topic in Melbourne Demons
The loss of Gus has made me rethink that we will finish top 8 and not top 4. Thanks Maynard . Interesting that's where the poll is now. -
Matthew Lloyd Worried About the Dees in 2024

There is a good number of great players from 21 who will not play for us again, are injured or in doubt in some manner. I do feel it's going to be a tough season.
