  1. Shouldn't be too hard - a match yesterday at the Adelaide oval

    Tennis Anyone?

Don't they basically have 5 world cups a year already?
  3. Oh yes, because that's the only injury he had B) Aside from his personal fitness, is there any reason to think he would be a valuable fitness coach at the MFC?
  4. Something seems odd about giving him an extension and then not announcing it for 6 weeks...
  5. So he looks fits - therefore should be a fitness coach at the club?
  6. Steamin' work Steamin (sorry), your report is greatly appreciated.
  7. The minute we start developing our players based on perceived future media pressure we may as well give it all away.
  8. Oh dear 8 for 4 from 12 balls at the Adelaide Oval 10 for 53 from 69 balls 13 for 74 from 101 balls 14 for 78 from 111 balls and finally; 15 for 112 from 130 balls
  9. With the injuries he had? Whelan hurt the most for me, easily my favourite ever player, even worse than when Mcgrath retired (and that almost ruined cricket for me)
  10. Who is this "Carlton" that keeps coming up on this forum?
  11. I'd say it's simply that they want to start their NAB cup's with a Derby - happening in all but one season.
  12. No comment. I was about to watch the replay "live" last night but heard the score so I didn't watch it, as such I can't really say. They destroyed us last week and beat us earlier in the year - so maybe they just figured us out.
  13. Leave my Eagles alone! Our late season run was looking great until we ran into Dallas...twice. They pulled a Melbourne v Hawthorn 1990 on us.
  14. I won't start a new thread about it, but after the tragic event that took place over the weekend involving the Togo football team's bus, the African Cup of Nations has begun. Now you'd think that at 4-0 up after 78 minutes you'd be sitting pretty.... Hosts Angola scored twice each side of half time and appeared to be cruising until Mali hit back with FOUR late goals!
  15. Well I'm on holidays and it's too hot outside, so I've gone through the last 7 years. It gets a little confusing with teams playing where - but I've included games where teams have played "basically" home games (Brisbane at the Gold Coast, Sydney at Blacktown, Hawthorn at York Park - because of their desire to play many more games there - as home games or away games played at home.) Adelaide - 4 home games, 2 away games and 1 away game played at home 5-2 Brisbane - 2 home games, 1 home game played away, 3 away games and 1 away game played at home 3-4 Carlton - 4 home games, 3 away games 4-3 Collingwood - 2 home games, 1 home game played away, 3 away games and 1 away game played at home 3-4 Essendon - 2 home games played away, 2 away games and 3 away games played at home 3-4 Fremantle - 5 homes games, 1 away game and 1 away game played at home 6-1 Geelong - 4 home games, 2 away games and 1 away game played at home 5-2 Hawthorn - 6 home games and 1 away game played at home 7-0 Melbourne - 1 home game and 6 away games 1-6 North Melbourne - 4 home games played away, 1 away games and 2 away games played at home 2-5 Port Adelaide - 2 home games, 1 home game played away, 1 away game and 3 away games played at home 5-2 Richmond - 0 home games, 3 away games and 4 away games played at home 4-3 St Kilda - 2 home games, 1 home game played away, 2 away games and 2 away games played at home 4-3 West Coast - 4 home games and 3 away games played at home 4-3 Western Bulldogs - 4 home games and 3 home games played away 4-3 Now the stats can be seen a few ways - Dogs' games in Darwin could possibly be called home games along with early St Kilda games in Tassie as well as North/Melbourne games in Canberra but I felt there was not enough footy played generally at these grounds and they were so far from their home that it should be classified as away. Some analysis: Western Australian teams have played 1 away game between them. Richmond have not played a home game, but have played 4 in Melbourne North have not had a home game in Melbourne but have played 2 all up Melbourne has had the fewest matches in their home city Essendon has not had a home match in Melbourne but have played 3 matches all up here The Dogs have not played an away match in the comp - but 3 of their games have seen them spread across the country (possibly an agreement?)
  16. Don't Collingwood have 4 elite sponsors?
  17. Pre-determining what is acceptable before the season begins is a very difficult thing to do in my view. Especially considering that determining the level of what is "acceptable" implies that there would be consequences for some if they are not met - the people involved and the subsequent punishment would probably have to be pre-determined as well. I'd rather see positive development in the likes of Jurrah, Grimes, Sylvia, Garland, Morton, Watts etc., at least a half dozen games from Strauss, Blease, Scully and Trengove but we fall short in a few matches and are competitive in our losses. This, in my view, is preferable to seeing us fluke a few wins but have poor showings in the games we lose. If Garland, Watts, Green, Grimes, Sylvia, Jurrah, Frawley, Moloney all have injury interupted seasons and we manage only 6 wins with an average losing margin of, say, 20 points - I'd be reasonably happy with that. For interest's sake however, all things being equal, if we have a good run with injuries I could see us clocking up 8-9 wins.
  18. At least 50% of pollsters believe that we will beat: Richmond North Melbourne West Coast Port Adelaide Essendon Fremantle Sydney Richmond North Melbourne. This would leave us with 9 wins. 45% of pollsters believe we will win 7-8 games compared with 31% who voted for 9-10 At least 50% of pollsters believe we will finish above: Fremantle North Melbourne Port Adelaide Richmond This would leave us in 12th. 7-10 wins and a finish of 10th-13th sounds about right to me. Hopefully with a good run of injuries and some good form we can make the most of our home games early on and make a run from there.
  19. To play devil's advocate - we weren't great in round one and neither were North (as evidenced by the remainder of their season), the Adelaide game was possibly the worst spectacle ever witnessed on the ground and we were playing an Adelaide team that had not hit their straps, the Cats were pretty much in cruise control, the Eagles and Dogs games I took positives out of, the Hawks should've beaten us by 10 goals + - the margin in that game couldn't have been more flattering. The last two are difficult to gauge as both teams really struggled. Personally, I can see arguments for it going either way but like any young team, injuries and luck will play a massive part.
  20. I posted our stats here a few months ago, I'll have a look Redleg. This was the thread Redleg, though I could only get back to 2003. Only one of our last 7 first up matches have been "home" matches and only 3 of our last 7 have been in Victoria. (Including this year's "cup") It'd be good to win this I reckon.
  21. Hindsight is what makes it funny Nash.
