To be fair, the information I was told about Dusty's father before he was drafted was completely wrong. I was told he was with the Comancheros.
Dusty is a fine footballer. Obviously he has some conflicting concepts in his mind, but he looks to me like he is working his way thru those slowly. To me he is a good person. Maturing amongst peers healthier than he would have been exposed to when young.

I had it for months sue and I tried every thing from Physio to Acupuncture and eventually the only thing that gave relief was a cortisone injection.
Hurt like hell but took about 95% of the problem away.
It flares up if I walk more than a couple kilometres not a good things for us old pricks but I cannot imagine a footballer getting it would be hell.
On 10/03/2016 at 2:37 PM, sue said:cortisone usually gives only a temporary relief. If you are still having problems OD, go and see a good podiatrist and get them to have some individual orthotics made for you. It's not cheap (!) but it changed me from barely being able to walk because of the pain for a few hours after I woke up to having no problems. After a few years I stopped wearing them and if I get the smallest flare up I just wear them for a day or two and all is well again. You might try if you can find a generic instep device if the cost scares you, but it may require the individually moulded orthotic to work properly.
proper orthotics are an excellent choice, for feet & lower back issues. If i stop wearing them, within 36 hrs, I will start locking up in the lower back. I don't wear them around the house. just moccasins.

I think the liberals via Pyne, placed Turnbull in place, removing the very unpopular rabbot hiding him down some burrow,, until after the 2016 election.
It is my opinion that Turnbull will be sacked after the 2016 election & the rabbot will re-app-ear.
the Gay & Lesbian communities are in for disappointment, if they believe this man & his promises. >
plebiscite or not, I believe after the 2016 election, the right wing christian lobbies will stack the voting on any legislations to do with marriage equality.
the rabbots poking his head up recently, is of no coincidence following his visits of the USA, speaking with the 'Alliance Defending Freedom'
But Mr Abbott's US address will add to his post-leadership record of spruiking conservative values and right-of-centre policies to like-minded groups abroad. It will also further burnish his credentials as Australia's pre-eminent social conservative, in sharp distinction with the middle-ground of Australian politics, and with that of his replacement, the pro-marriage equality, pro-environment Malcolm Turnbull.

Abbott and Trump are not intelligently discussing Islam, they’re just demonstrating that their brand of politics is fast collapsing.

Fresh from giving new hope to disaffected conservative Liberals by staying in federal politics, Tony Abbott will fly to the United States on Tuesday to gee-up one of the religious right's most reactionary bodies, the Alliance Defending Freedom.
Mr Abbott, who is being accompanied by wife Margie, will give a speech on the topic of "the importance of family" to the pro-Christian, Republican-aligned lobby, which opposes abortion, wants to end gay marriage and is pushing to roll back some feminist advances.

The speech comes as the primary race for the presidential nomination approaches fever pitch, with contenders on the Republican side scrambling to secure the overwhelmingly Christian "Tea Party" base.
The Alliance Defending Freedom's founding president, Alan Sears, is a regular conservative voice on Rupert Murdoch's Fox News channel and co-authored the 2003 book, The Homosexual Agenda: Exposing the Principal Threat to Religious Liberty Today.
With Craig Osten, Sears argued that America's growing tolerance of homosexuality was being achieved through the indoctrination of children, tacit support of corporate America, and through "positive" television depictions of alternative family structures.

Yep, there was a bit of consternation around picking a bolter who didn't play in the nationals but I'm happy to say the recruiting team have got this one right. They haven't done much wrong since Taylor came on board and I think it's an area of our club that definitely deserves some praise, especially turning around from where they came.
Well done for backing themselves and not getting caught up in the hype of Parish, a player who we definitely would've picked a few years ago. Targeting these big bodied, aggressive players has been a real focus and will see us be one of the more hard-nosed teams in the coming years.
I wanted us to get Weideman somehow, & if we manged to snavel a mid before, then great. We got Wiedeman, & this other kid I never heard of, prior to the weid.

this sounds fantastic... I've been up in the old RSL upstairs around 2004 for a drink & socialising.
I'd love to see those old bands you mentioned. Chain, Ross Wilson, Joe Camileri, etc, what about JoJoZep are those musos still about? camilari wild, & that bald guy?

John Power is living up here in country NSW (just had a recent heart bypass operation) and the rest still in Melbourne. I used to go and see them regularly at the Kingston Hotel in West Richmond (I think it was) as well as other venues like The Tiger Room in Richmond, The London Tavern in South Caulfield and Bananas Nightclub in the Esplanade. I also saw them about 3 years ago supporting Elvis Costello at a Day on the Green show in the Hunter Valley (most of the originals were playing including Wilbur.
As for the Memo, my one and only visit (to date) was for the Sports reunion show in the wonderful company of The Nutbeans :-) A great day/night out.
Jonny Topper, I've just found was the bald guy on sax together with JJ Camilleri, & unbeknown to me at that time I was also seeing Wilbur as well .. that was a daunting image with the lighting etc at the time.
it was out of this world to me,,, my world at that time. absolutely loved tha sound... disappointed they stopped but soon after the black sorrows appeared a year or so later i guess... didn't know the connection of them then, saw JoJo & Sorrows a number of times, before the Sorrows were household name, somewhere around Caulfield/Malvern? can't find the pub now. it was upstairs I think??? on the south side of the road.
anyway, I gotta go.

Hi Hardtack,,, I just went searching for the falcons, (I'd forgotten the name) JoJozep & the Falcons, just started playing honey dripper on youtube... thats one of the songs I had been inspired by with the falcons, heard it on radio at the time then lucked it in at south side to see them live,,,
I loved that sound & rhythm, especially the rhythm. I've only just realised listening now, that sound & funky rhythm has got Ross Wilson written all over it.
let me get back to listening to it... haha.

The 2016 edition of the Football Almanac has a section on the top 25 draft prospects from this year's pool of players.
Here's the first group of six players (interesting that two of these youngsters are tied to northern states academies)
Ben Ainsworth Mid-Fwd Victoria Plays like: Jamie Elliot
Averaged the most Champion Data ranking points of any mid-forward at the 2015 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Kicked the second-most goals behind Josh Schache.
Jarrod Berry Defender Victoria Plays like: Corey Enright
Hard-running intercepting defender, averaging five intercept possessions and two intercept marks at the 2015 Championships.
I'd like to see us in the thik of the trading action for an early 1st rnd pick in the 2016 draft.
I'd really like us to find another skilled running back, & anther tall defender to look to replacing dunn & garland over the next 3 yrs.
On 02/03/2016 at 5:47 PM, Whispering_Jack said:The next group of players from the latest edition of Football Almanac and I must say I find the player comparisons somewhat amusing. Poor Peter Ladhams would have felt on top of the world until he was compared with Robert Warnock who was dumped last year by the Blues and couldn't find a suitor anywhere despite being a very tall man.
Dylan Clarke Midfielder Victoria Plays like: David Swallow
Big bodied inside midfielder, who won 10 or more contested possessions in six of his 13 TAC Cup games last year.
Jordan Gallucci Forward Victoria Plays like: Devon Smith
Dangerous playmaker, averaged 14 disposals and one goal playing across half-forward at the 2015 Under-18 Championships.
Andrew McGrath Midfielder Victoria Plays like: Jack Macrae
Played seven TAC Cup matches with the Sandringham Dragons as a composed midfielder, averaging 23 disposals and five tackles from his final four games.
Brandan Parfitt Midfielder Northern Territory Plays like: Jack Steven
Rated elite as a midfielder for metres gained and score involvements at the 2015 Under-18 Championships. Has played five SANFL games with North Adelaide.
some more pace & skills would be handy as a running mid, who can play inside without flinching would be handy.

very rare opportunity to read some nice things about us
lets take it in blocks of 3 games,,,
I'd like to see us blitz slowly in the first half, then if we ease off, I won't be too disappointed. after we've been thru, firing for early part of season, will be enough taste test to excite de buds.
they say, another gem awaits in movember just a cherry.

I don't like to plug...but there are two music venues in Melbourne both run by the same bloke called the Caravan music Club and Memo music hall.
The venues are aimed at an older demographic and they do have some stock standard fare of older bands who are still doing the traps ( Chain, Black Sorrows, The models, Ross Wilson, Phil Manning, Steve Cummings etc) but they also give time to less known local acts (Suzannah Espie, Jeff Lang etc ) and quirky overseas acts ( Steve Poltz, Pokey Lafarge etc ).
What I really like is they also put on some quirky shows and tributes - In May the Brewster Bros are doing an Angels tribute which is not just music - they will telling stories about the life and times of the Angels interspersed with music. They do birthday tributes to the likes of Dylan and Neil Young where they have amongst others Chris Wilson, Tim Rogers and Tex Perkins sing their favorite songs of those artists.
The sound in these venues is usually exceptional as they are not trying to blow you out of the room.

This is one out of the blue...
Lucky enough to have seen him a few weeks back, my partner knew Jon quite well and she is devastated this morning by the news.
I was a big fan of "ol' black eyes", back in the day, from his stage & screen, to recorded music. his rock ballads to his tv hits. loved his individual style.
Mr Integrity is the way he came across. very sad to lose another much loved Muso, from a great era of Australian music.

I would like to see us consider another option.
i know he kicked badly v Essendon but I thought Tom McDonald looked good on the forward line. If he played CHF the ball would be retained on the forward line. Of course Watts should be able to achieve this but he will always be peripheral. McDonald could do some ruck work on the forward line, in much the same manner as Shwarz did very successfully.
if Frost us a natural backman, isn't this worth considering?
And do remember, our best win last year occurred when both Spencer and Gawne played--and caused great grief to the Cats
I think so Farmer, but first half of season is imperative we get some winning momentum, so I wouldn't switch TMac & Frost in the key posts til the half season mark. by which time we will have settled into our area of the competition.
Back end of the season is my preference to let Frost to start learning the CHB role,,, & who knows, maybe Weideman may, (or may not) be demanding games? he could play a FPocket or back pocket role as he eases into AFL as well.?

Yep. 30 second mark.
After he did that, some Carlton fans behind us WOULD. NOT. SHUT. UP. They carried on for the next two quarters. They were giving so much [censored] to Melbourne and Melbourne supporters all day. At three-quarter time they were just yelling out to us, giving us crap because Carlton was 4 goals up.
In the final moments with us being home, this young Carlton supporter, maybe 15-16, stood up, went over to them and just sprayed them for making the Blues fans around them look like such flogs. Carlton supporters turning on each other. It was glorious.
I was there that day (northern stand level 1), 3 carlton idiots standing behind my & Irish work mates seats. after about 2 Qtrs of rubbishing from them, I turned around & jumped over the seat to have a go. they shat, then the cops came to quieten them back down.
the next Qtr we turned up to play, & the Oxen carved them a front bumm.
blue boys were very quiet from before 3qtr time, & left like sheep, tail between legs.
I will never forget the OX's heydays.

Ablett snr played a lot of his footy up the ground and on the wing as well as at FF, he could kick them from anywhere.
Trac will spend a bit of his time rotating through the middle not just as a forward.
Gablett snr would be enormous in the middle in todays footy. He would brush through tackles or don't argue screens. just unsure of his tank.

Thats why he should go asap. He has, at the right clubs, a couple of years of good service to them, & to the game. & he shouldn't retire with the essendrugs scandal still fresh in peoples minds, imo.
Jobe has been a great player, & a class above even Goddard as seen in recent years.

The Ox was awesome on field and awesome giving Sam Newman the shove.
One of the best bits of 'the footy show' I've seen, comeuppance arrived for Sammy that day. the ol' cream puff.

the Australian culture those oldies grew from, was the close-knit Aussie culture after the wars. teamwork was commonplace.
nowadays differing cultures brought up within competative fight to survive culture has people divided. kids from the wrong ethnicity are on the outside wanting in but rejected most of their lives. when some get the high foothold that competitiveness can turn spiteful.
I still think Kyrios is the pick of all, & will be a great Aussie.
