Dee luded we need to offer Dangerfield massive dollars to get his attention, and they'd want pick 2 and a player imo

Would we give up pick2 and watts or Howe for danger?

If I had P-2 or 3, followed by chippa compo, I would trade the first pick plus a player to get the deal over the line.

Offering Danger dollars, goes without saying... $m5.2 over 4 Yrs front biased. the Crows will want a tall imo.

Our 1st pick + a package from {Gawn, Watts, MJones, McKenzie, Toump, Evans, Blease, Jamar, Tapscott, Georgiou...), for Danger.

... if Frawls signed on, maybe they would entertain a trade of Chippa + Toumpas or Gawn, for Danger - plus their 3rd Rnd pick?

  2. This draft doesn't appear to have the same hype as other drafts, so i figure it is not a strong draft. Might be hard to get a gem from the draft and even harder to trade picks.

I think that is because its so strong & even. at least thru the top rounds. so this would make P-11 & P-15 stronger than other years, compared to P-4.

also the focus has shifted away from the heavy bias to 18Yr olds, of past years.

  3. Pick 4 to the suns for 11&15

Pick 3 & 11 for shiel and orourke

    Pick 15 for Tom Mitchell

    Pick 22 for tommlinson

New midfield and versatile hardworking tall

this is what I'm trying to workout, we need to add something to P-4, to get P-9 & P-14/15 ?

But if Dangerfield becomes an option, P-4 may be spoken 4... a le` Toump.

  4. Its time to be ruthless and get guys like Shiel, Cameron, Boyd without giving up our top 5 picks

    No, not with GWS.

they are our salavation; burn them at our own peril. we can have a mutual benefit society, based on trust & win-wins. trash that & they will suitor other clubs... the $cully deal has turned for us atmo.

  5. Actually Bob. I don't think Jack Trengove's testing serves your argument very well here at all because if Petracca and Brayshaw test as well for their endurance, they would be definite shoe ins in terms of their ability as footballers to run in games.

Also, one of the last players I recall whose style was criticised for relying on power at under age level was Ollie Wines. I believe there are some around Demonland who may have regrets that we overlooked him. Of course, it works both ways because others knocked Jackson McRae because he was a virtual unknown in junior circles and people had no idea about his stamina.

Although physical testing remains important, there are other tests you need to apply and that is whether a kid can actually play football. I think we finally now have recruiters who can discern that a lot better than the mug who had the job a few years ago.

they say, Nicho has a great beep test.

  7. Take him with our number 2 pick... or trade it for Treloar.

I don't get why people are talking about Treloar? Great player, but looks settled to me this year, where Shiel looks to be cruising in 3rd gear, looks to want out to me.

Lets go after the ones we can get first. Shiel will be every bit as good or better once he's settled... then package in Jaksch; & also a deal for Tomlinson, not necessarily in this order.

we need so many players to get to the top.

  8. Crack the sh its

Haha, I know the feeling. I want Shiel, Treloar, a KPF in Boyd or Patton and GCS's McKenzie, please. ;)

I desperately want a trade for Shiel, & a tall 197cm key utility (Jaksch, doesn't have to be this year).

And from this draft Petracca sounds great...... Along with the true small forward we need (Pickett), & also the midfielder-3rd-Tall Utility in (Lamb). somewhere around picks 8-15 ?

I reckon these players would give us the difference, & versatility & class, onto our list to go along way to repairing our lacking 'Class'.

  9. Said it before Petracca and Brayshaw with hopefully pick 3 and 4 would set our midfield up for the next 10 years. Add Billy stretch to that mix and it would be a super draft for us.

The rest of the picks I would use on talls and maybe a small zippy forward.

everyone is thinking of Petracca going at 3 or 4. Not so sure. He may go top 2. Then what would we do?

  10. I only saw the televised games, so take this with large quantities of salt ...

Is there a chance that Ahern could challenge as the first midfielder picked? He certainly seems to have a huge amount of upside and a bit of x-factor. Fast, uses it well and his hands just seem insanely clean in all situations. One of those players who has the tools but just doesn't produce the high numbers yet.

    Here's footage.

looks good, cool in the mind leading to good decisions, but seems always out in space?

whats her like under the pump, with close attention. is he accountable for his opponent?

  11. No complaints, I think Lamb is a good prospect, versatile and apparently runs a 16 beep test.

I don't want 2 young 18Yr old Mids, from the draft.... Shiel, who is raring to go;& a tasty bit of spring Lamb, who could play most spots & Mid as well, with height & run & dash.....

Versatility in our first 2 pick selections, with strength, toughness, run, height, & marking.

    Petracca or Brayshaw.

    Ahern looked impressive as well.7

Any of those players would add a lot to our list.

if we get a compo pick for Chipper, then Shiel as entre`, & young Lamb should our Main course.

  15. JCB does pretty well most times. He was red hot on wanting to bring in Talia a long way out from the draft, back in 2009 (he told me he wanted Talia very early in the '09 season).

But i will say this though John. Saying that Conglio is not up to it (whilst entitled to your opinion) is not one i agree with. I wouldn't call you a fool though.

and I put him onto DTalia as well. & JCB is not a fool. he's a loyal & committed Demon Patriot.

  16. Farmer was the most exciting player we've had in recent memory.

Here's a toughie - who was more exciting, Farmer or Jakovich?

ah, the spontaneity of un-synthesized footy. Huh, the fun it was. I bleed for its return.

  17. We do this and we leave ourselves without a quality KPD (dangerous game to play).

If we were to go down that path, then i'd take one of Petracca/Brayshaw and try and bring in another young afl experienced mid with some pace and skill (like a Shiel or Coniglio).

But i'd prefer to try and bring in both a tall and a small with whatever picks we end up having.

I agree. If we had say P-5 & [6 compo]... then use P-5 on a semi ripe Mid, a bit like this kid > http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-greater-western-sydney-giants--dylan-shiel

And trade P-6 & maybe a Tapscott/Blease, on a key tall who plays both ends well, & has height, 195+, & agility, a bit like this kid > http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-greater-western-sydney-giants--kristian-jaksch,

    # My trade fantasy would be to sign Chip Frawley, & then on-trade (Frawley & P-23), to the Gold Coast Suns on a 5Yr deal,,, for the GCSuns P-10 & P-12 .

... I'd look to trade P-6 & P-10 to GWS for a couple of players wanting to come home, hopefully (DShiel & CJaksch + GWS's end of 1st Rnd compo pick).

Under these circumstances, we would be well off ourselves, heading into our future.

  18. With what Roos said today re: acquiring 2-3 classy midfielders.

I can't really see us holding onto our first pick. Looks like it's going to be in the 4-8 range, and it'll be gone before we know it.

I think roos doesn't need another young 18yr old midfielder. We have the makings of a young mid brigade, and he will move heaven and earth to bring in a class 20-25yr old mid. He likes big bodied mids, that can run all day, hence why toumpas is learning his craft at casey, we don't need another 18 yr old doing laps at casey.

    we need both.

if we end up with P-4 & 5,,,, or P-5 & 6, via compensation, then we trade, & visit the draft as well, just as we did last year. We get both a semi mature mid from trade, plus a pick... we also use our first pick in the draft on a young talent.

.. 'the incoming traded pick' from the trade deal, we can on-trade, or use in the draft.

  19. 1 first rounder pick wont get us too much, we ll need some currency and Howe is great currency.

Teams wont give us up good players for Blease Strauss or Tapscott unfortunately

thats true, but for a player who wants out of GWS to return home; a top 6 pick would get a deal done for a young player who hasn't yet scorched this Old Earth.

for a Shiel or a Treloar.

If your talking about Cameron, then a bit more for him.

  20. I would put Howe on the trade table. Good player but more of a nice to have. GWS would pay overs for him.

Not now that he's doing well down halfback, & helping setup play with his kicking & run. He's developing more versatility, & is showing he is prepared to work harder, & not just do the flash stuff.

He's a keeper, unless GWS want to trade Cameron for him & a pick?
