No it's not, it doesn't give any explanation at all and you have no idea of what Daniher's intentions at the time were so don't pretend that you do. Prior to Jolly making the decision to leave you have absolutely no idea of if Daniher was going to give Jolly enough game time to develop his career. I did it in my reply to Nasher, no need to repeat myself.

I'm sorry, I'm confused, I'm sure that you posted this: So, where is the direct quote? Why are you changing your story now? It's because you're completely full of shiite and you've been exposed, don't misquote me to try and make your argument look better. You accused me of something that I did not post, now once again, show me where you quoted me directly. Perhaps you should read your own posts, you've turned misquoting into an artfrom, you've got plenty of material to work with. You honestly don't think that there is a difference between the two statements? The fact is that a made a statement and you misquoted me to try and make your argument look stronger, and it's so obvious what you've done that it's hilarious that you're trying to defend yourself. I'm hostile because you've misquoted me and I've exposed you? I believe our ruck combination is one of the worst for many reasons. Firstly, White has never been able to cope with the rule changes, he is not the same player he once was. His main weapon was his ability to jump over the opposition, he simply can't do that any more and hence he no longer gives us first use out of the centre like he used to, it just doesn't happen. In the past against teams with the ruck quality that Hawthorn has now, what was nashers description, both slow moving, fumbling giants who provide almost nothing around the ground, we barely broke even, what does that say about us then? (Their two ruckman fumbling giants got a total of 18 touches around the ground, White and Jamar got 11....) Secondly Jamar is not up to it. For Melbourne to win a premiership we need to have some things going for us. We don't have the best midfield, nor the best faroward or backline. To give us a chance we have to have a top ruck combination to give us first out of the centre and to help the KPP up forward and down back. We simply don't have that, and while this is what we have to play with we will not win a premiership. Sydney won a premiership with Jolly because he was what they needed, someone to purely compete in the air, doesn't have to dominate because they have strengths and depth all over the ground, Jolly gave them that. We need much more out of our rucks because we don't have Sydney's strengths.

What has this got to do with your original comment that Jolly would be giving the right amount of game time to develop his game? This is completely irrelevant, Jolly wanted to leave because he wasn't getting game time.
-
Excellent first post, you have some great points that needs to be addressed and discussed.
-
You mean like trading a second round pick, let's say pick #21 for example, for an immobile KPP who has a turning circle bigger than the QEII? Nah, Melbourne wouldn't do anything like that
-
If the 20% was so awful then why was a club prepared to give up a first round pick to get him? Splinters got 34 touches tonight, fair effort for someone that still spends most of their time on the bench If you really think that all Jolly has done is to sit on the bench while he's been at Sydney then you need to start watching some games of footy. Rubbish, which is only my opninion, and as you have absolutey no way of proving your statement then it's just your opinion as well. There has been questions raised about White since way before 2004. Jolly played 7 games in 2004, three at the start of the year, then four towards the end, he was hardly given the opportunity to settle into a position and develop. Whenever White played Jolly always ended up either on the bench having very little game time or in the forward, and as you've pointed out Holland was recruited as a forward so he was obviously in competition with him with seeing game time. White has successfully seen off three competing ruckman, but were those decisions made for the best of the MFC? I have my doubts. Last time I checked this competition was about winning premierships, how could that not be relevant?

Developing at CHF nicely, although not dominating games. Not sure how accurate his height is on their website but he'd have to be at least 190cm to hold down a key position at AFL level.

Yes, you absolutely did misquoted me and you've done it again in this post. Misquote one - Show me where I said that playing in a premiership team makes Jolly a better player? I know you can't produce this piece of evidence because I didn't post it. Misquote two - I never said that we have the worst ruck combination, I said we have one of the worst, if you can't understand the difference then that's your problem. So to summarise that's twice you've misquoted me - do you actually want to debate the issue or would you prefer to continue with whatever the little voices in your head are saying?
-
I didn't say that it did make him a superior player so please don't misquote me. The facts remain that we now have one of the worst ruck combinations going around and thjere are two decent performing ruckman playing for other clubs that we once had on our list.
-
When Jolly was given his 'chance', he'd spend about 80% of the game warming the bench. He rarely played more than a handfull of games in a row and he certainly wasn't given the chances that Jamar has had after so many ordinary performances. Jolly was pushed down the pecking order below Jamar and Holland, but I'm prepared to wager that at the end of all their careers only Jolly will have played in a premiership team.
-
Actually, Jolly got traded because he wasn't given regular game time, it became even worse when we gave up pick 20 for Ben Holland. Any chance Jolly had of breaking into the team was lost and he rightfully realised he had to go to another club to play more games. He now has a premiership to his name....which kind of reminds me of Steven Armstrong..... In reality it was our decision that he wanted to leave.

Yes there is DS, there's just a bidding system so clubs are forced to use better picks to draft guns.

Justed wanted to give everyone a heads on a possible F/S selection, Brett Hughes, son of one of my favourite Melbourne players Danny. He's currently playing for Port Adelaides U/19's in the forwardline. Here's the link to his profile http://www.portmagpies.com.au/player_profi...?player_id=2181 He's not tearing them apart so don't get too excited, but I'll keep an eye on him and track his progress

Mate, there's another thread on bigfooty saying that he's now finally running without pain Seriously though, bigfooty is ok, 90% of it is trolling shiite but from time to time there are some really worthwhile threads.

A player has to agree to the trade for it to go ahead (Re: Ferguson for Sewell  ) ala Nick Stevens ending up at Carlton.
-
Matt Kreuzer from the Northern Knights, remember his name
-
That's just it Hards, for a senior player his efforts like this are far too inconsistent, if he played like this more often then people wouldn't post negative things about him. My personal opinion is that the consequetive game record was a major issue for him and Daniher, now that it's gone he's free to play his natural game.

Dunn is also injured, no fit players are left on the bench.

RICKY PETTERD TO DEBUT VERSUS FREO, and possibly Colin Garlan
Jarka replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
I understand the reason for dropping Bate, but I wish it wouldn't happen, other than that I'm reasonably happy with those changes if true. one other thing though, I'm surprised that Buckley isn't going to have an opportunity before Petterd, my understanding was that he was fairly close to senior selection. -
I love Selwood's comment afterwards, 'it was not my intention to offend Headland.....', you've already admitted to sledging him, how can you do that without offending him?? then if you also consider Chick's performance as well it was truly a bizzare night at the tribunal.

I'm with Nasher on this, he's playing soem good footy in the backline, don't tempt fate and play him in another position. Play to our strengths

RICKY PETTERD TO DEBUT VERSUS FREO, and possibly Colin Garlan
Jarka replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sadly it's no the first time we've been in this position, remembering back to the 90's when Balme was coach we had Lyon, Schwartz, Prymke, G.Lovett, Tingay (and others I've forgotten) all with long term injuries. The heart and soul of the club were sitting in the grandstands week after week....very depressing. -
RICKY PETTERD TO DEBUT VERSUS FREO, and possibly Colin Garlan
Jarka replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
After reading the article is seems that's it's just purely speculation by the author that Petterd will be selected. When people use the terms 'may' and 'appears certain to play' it's a fair bet that the coach isn't their source. I haven't seen any Sandy games yet this year, would Buckley be in front of Pettard at the moment? -
You regularly have conversations with people that involve comments similiar to "I ****ed your six year old daughter"? All through footy forums I've been hearing comments like this, am I on my own here to be revolted by behavoir? Edited because for some reason the swear filter didn't work.

Too right it's a voluntary position, but answer this - Where does 100% of the income come for a football club come from, either directly or indirectly? From the bloody supporters, we pay to see our team, we pay their incomes, and ultimately we have the decision as a group. If the supporters turn on the coach and stop going to games then the board will very quickly act. Your problem with this argument is that you're trying to make it personal in an effort to try and take the moral high ground. This talk about "Anyone hoping somebody fails (player or coach) just to prove they were right or vindicate their vendettas cannot call themselves a supporter" is just complete crap. I'm sick of seeing my club being as soft as butter when the heat's turned up. What [censored] vendetta are you talking about!!!!?
