  1. I agree, there's just too much work for coaches to do in modern footy to give it to someone without any prior experience of any form.
  2. I'm appalled that a young player like Selwood could even think up a sledge like this, I've also played a bit of footy like alot of people here and it's easily the most revolting thing that I've ever heard. Perhaps it's because my wife is almost eight months pregnant with our first child, but the implications of a sledge like that are, well.... dire. That's my own personal view and it's irrelevant, but in reality the damage done to Selwood's reputation and image is far greater than any sanction the AFL will impose on him. He will always be known as the deviant who said "I [censored] your six year old daughter." I wonder what Selwood's parents are thinking right now.....
  3. I understand your point but the coach makes yearly decisions that finishes careers for many players, it's imperative that the right person is appointed as our coach.
  4. Interesting points, but can you please answer this question. This is not the first time this has happened with Daniher, if the board had of made the decision in the past do you think we'd be where we are now? Or how about this one. If the board gives Daniher a 3 year extension on his contrcat do you think we'll be saying the same things in round 3 of 2009? I'm on the "Sack the coach after 9 mediocre seasons" bandwagon.
  5. Brad Green is a talented player, I have no doubt about this, but has Daniher tried to make him something that he's not? Successful clubs use their players in such a way that gets the most out of them, but I think that we as a club play dumb football, and Green is a good example. As a forward he is quick and bloody hard to match up on, he's also a great kick meaning if he gets pushed out wide he's still very dangerous, but for some reason Daniher has decided to try and make him a midfielder. I've lost count the amount of time I've seen him running across the backline thinking to myself what a waste of talent having him so far away from goal. Would a Roos or Matthews try and do the same thing with one of their players? I think he lacks the real hard edge to be a good midfielder, leave him close to goal so he can really hurt the opposition with his disposal.
  6. That would have hurt
  7. We need to find out of PJ really has it or not so a decision can be made at the end of the year about his future, either keep him or cut our losses and go onto the next one. The only way of doing that is to give him some decent game time. Sadly, I just don't think he's AFL material.
  8. We don't have anyone capable of playing on him, which is kind of embarrsing considering he is a 18 y/o.
  9. RR, do you think that we are a realistic chance of winning the premiership this year?
  10. Dunn and Bartram are injured, but I think the our coach thought that we were in a position to have a crack at the title this year, so playing the kids would be a no no. The other issue is that for the first time our coach is a real chance to not have his contract extended...
  11. Bad move in dropping CJ, at least he is capable of a hardball get, he also needs time to get used to AFL, not played for a couple of games then dropped. I'm not at all happy with the way our young players are developed.
  12. Ablett like? *shakes head* Sylvia pulled up sore from last week and the club doesn't want to risk long term damage for a possible short term gain.
  13. I've often wondered if the players read this stuff, but it's something that I always ask myself if I post something negative about one of them, "Am I prepared to say this to his face?" Most of the time my answer is yes
  14. Well, in cricket you don't kick the ball to score.....

    Green

Brag is and has been a good player for us but he is more suited to a support role than what Daniher has tried to play him as. Support meaning that he will never be a top line midfielder, he's 2nd tier, he's a good 'icing on the cake' type. Unfortunately we've had to rely on him being one of our ebst because we have no standout stars, in a team like the Eagles he would be a very, very damaging player.
  16. WS, I like your passion and it takes guts to post something here on demonland that goes against the grain but I have to disagree with your attitude towards injuries, both St.Kilda and Hawthorn had their fair share of injuries as well, you just can't use that as an excuse, nor a reason. Other than that good work

    NEALE DANIHER

I've already made my views on Daniher known on this site so I won't bother repeating myself but please remember what coaches say to the media and what get said behind closed doors aren't the same. There is no way Daniher would have told any media what he really said after the game.
  18. He's walking around the boundary so it might not be too serious *crosses fingers and toes*
  19. Looks like Robo has hurt his knee as well, hyperextension
  20. This thread is a good reminder that we need to be mindful of the line between expressing our thoughts on the abilities of the guys who play in the red and the blue and unnecessary personal attacks that often happen here. Good to see you on demonland JF, hopefully you can contribute some more and make this a better place.
  21. We have a serious lack of talented tall players, in fact we probably have the worst list in regards to that area.
  22. I agree it was a mistake however he is not a sensational player, most swans fans blame his poor performance for their GF loss last year, and if he really is that good why would they get Everitt? Edit: Woohoo, 500 posts!!
  23. Comparing someone to Jamar and Miller in terms of footy nous is the equivilent of damning someone with faint praise... The reason why Jamar is favoured over him is because of his lack of rucking ability, I'm just not sure what we see in him that the eagles overlooked.
  24. I really hope Melbourne supporters aren't expecting too much from Paul Johnson, in reality he's a player struggling to get a permanent spot with the starting 18. For anyone to expect that he'll dominate games is a bit much.
  25. Looks like you have this part well and truly covered, feeling a little insecure are we?
