Our record with early picks is poor, so there's absolutely no guarantee we would have picked up a couple of guns, in fact as you've pointed out we would have most likely have screwed those picks up as well. Damn straight

RR I understand your point and of course losing a round 1, 2 & 3 pick will have an affect however it was what, 8 or 9 years ago? There have been other factors to explain why we are in this position. How many picks has the club blown by trading for mature players way past their best footy? eg Ellis, Holland, Pickett. How many early picks have we blundered? eg Lamb, Molan, Smith etc Sure the penalties had an effect but they pale into insignificance when compared to our drafting and trading decisions over the last decade.

I tend to agree, Leoncelli was far from our best player but he worked his arse off to get the most out of his career. With 'celli you knew what you were going to get every week.

The Burger will be the premier ruckman within the next 5 years. Naitanui is not your average ruck, he has an enormous leap and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts that compare favourably with the best mids in the game. Potentially he could play anwhere. Having said that and as Freak has already mentioned Daniel Rich is an aboslute gun of a mid, has already played senoir footy in the West for two seasons with very good results. The other one who has stood out at this stage is Hurley, a KPP who dominates the game regardless of whether he plays forward or back. I'd be as happy as Larry if we snared any of these kids.

Anyone who has read my posts over he last 18 months will understand my frustration with our lack of KPP's and I would have dearly loved to have got Henderson in the draft however CAC did the right thing in taking Morton. With a top 5 pick you always take the best available and Morton definitely fitted that description. Yes, Henderson may turn out to be a gun KPP but there was an element of risk involved with the pick, not so with Morton.

Welcome to 2 years ago, but I suspect that you already knew this. Our list needs a major overhaul - rucks, KPP's and midfield depth, but the worst crime that has been made over the last 5 years was the club doing everything it possibly could last year so we didn't receive a pp pick. If things go as they are now for the rest of the year then we will end up with under 5 wins and if we had of done the intelligent thing then we would have had the first 2 picks. It depresses me how stupid we've been as a club since Gutnick began his reign.

Ha! Marvin the Robert is one of my all time favourite creations. I'm not particularly upset with our results as it comes of no surprise, our list needs alot of work before we're realistically challenging for a flag

This kid has so much 'upside' to him it's just not funny and I honestly believe that he'll play his best footy playing out of the middle. He's one of the few genuine impact style of players that we have on our list.
