  1. You'd think so. I think it's clear Hogan's attributes and strengths suggest he is a traditional CHF. Weideman is a goal square FF. Watts to play third tall.
  2. Would love to see White given a chance but he is still a rookie. I reckon he'd be the perfect back-pocket alongside Jetta. Tough, skilled and is a rebound player.
  3. Possibly robbed him from a rising star nom also. Was a joke of a decision. Trac-man is showing the signs we all thought he would show. So exciting. As soon as he realises he doesn't have to play on at every opportunity, the better. No doubts about him though. A player you want in finals.
  4. Sometimes I feel like you just spit out anything you hear the club say in a presser/interview because you think it's relevant. It is glaringly obvious that we conceded goals in the manner that you just described, as all clubs do. Does it mean that goals are in no way conceded from sub-par defending, an inability to kill a ball in a spoil, weak body-checking, dumb play and turnovers from the back-line also? No. It doesn't. But thanks for pointing out the obvious.
  5. I'll chip in. Whilst I've in no way written the guy off, I would like to say that I've seen more to dislike than like at this stage in his career. And yesterday's game he just looked like a deer in headlights. Was incredibly slow, lacked intensity, decision making, ability to spoil effectively etc. He was a third or fourth round pick? As a KPD going that late in a draft it's obvious that there will be more obvious weaknesses in your game. It's the same with Tom. They're both late pick defenders. Not top end ones. They both have some pretty obvious weaknesses in their game. Oscar has time at this stage, but that fact that he was given a game yesterday ahead of someone like Dunn at this stage in his development is a fairly worrying sign to me. We really do have a very unsettled and dysfunctional set of KP defenders at the minute and we're leaking goals because of it.
  6. Lol. He dealt with little to no pressure all day back there and Geelong's ball use going forward was awful for the majority of the day so he was constantly picking up free ball. Wait until they come up against the Dogs next week and let's see how he handles it. The guy crumbles under pressure.
  7. Yes. All well and good. But you said he had 11 contested marks. At a game that you said you went to. Which is not true. I'm not sure how you can make that mistake. Clearly you like to exaggerate.
  8. As I said, they're the types that will fill the holes in our list. I named them. I don't expect to get them.
  9. Totally. I was throwing those names there as the 'type' we'd be after. But if it were all three, it'd be magical. Just magical.
  10. 'In hindsight, we probably went a bit tall in our defensive half'....... Nice one Roosy.
  11. If a kick is not to the advantage of a forward and the defender is able to make a basic 'spoil', who is given the plaudits? The defender? If you believe so, I think you're completely overrating a basic skill that all defenders are expected to execute under those circumstances. All defenders are expected to 'spoil' a ball in that situation at the very least. I didn't go the game last week. But I did watch the replay and after reading comments about Garland on demonland, I was expecting the worst. Surprisingly however, I didn't think it was a horrible game from him. But it was very much a 'Garland' game. The same story which I've been preaching for a long time. He just floats. Hangs off his opponent. Literally. (Which is evidenced by free kicks against). And provides little to any offensive play. (As evidenced by his 35 metre vertical kicks into the air as well as his blaze away kicking when under any sort of pressure). We will get better when we find upgrades to these kinds of players.
  12. As far as a starting Round 1 team for next year and positional changes, I'd like to see the following: Through a trade or FA I'd like to see us land one KPD. Ideally Hurley, Day or May. Dunn and Garland are cooked in my eyes and neither have the desire to fight nail and tooth for every contest, neither inspire confidence in defence and both of them exude an inability to be composed when we need that most from our 'senior' players. Through a trade, it's clear we also need a midfielder who can bring a complimenting mix of attributes to our contested ball winning kings. Ideally someone in the mould of Steven, Dahlhaus or Zorko. I'll settle with Prestia for now as he seems the most likely to leave and he has speed of sorts. But I see a definite lack of speed and class through our midfield which needs to be addressed. Out of White, Salem and Wagner I strongly believe that two of them could become mainstay HB flankers/pockets for us going forward. I've already said my piece about Salem and what I think he needs to do to become an elite flanker. White is the other I see who if given the opportunity this year could really own a backline position. He has the foot-skills we need, rebound pace and the mongrel attitude you want to see from any defender. Hunt at this stage has fantastic pace but his kicking is really quite average and for that I don't see a HB position for him. (Yes I know we've just signed him). Our forward-line and the future of our forward-line looks great so I don't see any changes there except for the injection of Weideman at some point. Same goes with out midfield brigade except for speed and class. And we definitely need another mature Ruckman/forward to help Gawn. But perhaps the FD see Hulett as a direct replacement for Pedo who can similarly pinch hit in the ruck? In any case, I'd love to see us pick up someone like Jenkins. So for Round 1 next year I'd like to see the following team lineup: B White Hurley Jetta HB Salem McDonald Vince C Melksham Oliver Kent HF Watts Hogan Prestia FF Garlett Weideman Petracca Foll: Gawn Viney Jones Int: Tyson Brayshaw Kennedy Jenkins The way the game is going and the advent of the interchange cap means players need to be versatile positionally speaking. And a team like that have a host of players who can play a variety of roles. We'd be playing finals without a doubt with a team like that.
  13. Sometimes clubs can 'omit' a player even if they're sore/lack conditioning etc. I read that he was made to do a lot of short sharp 'burst' running in the off-season as a means to get his hammies in the right condition. Anyway, I'm not asking him to have the impact Oliver is having. They're playing completely different positions anyway. But as a half-back, the transition running required to play that role well is huge and I'm just saying that I think Salem is not at the required level of fitness to be able to play that role to the potential I think that he is capable of playing. Of all our youngsters, I feel the most comfortable and confident when the ball is in Salem's hands. I'm just saying that I think he needs a monstrous pre-season of serious running to be able to become a really dangerous and damaging HB flanker in the mould of Shaw, Birchell, Docherty etc. All those guys are so damaging because of their use and their run. And I think Salem can get there.
  14. So hard to know what's going on in regards to team selection from the outside. Salem being dropped is interesting. Could be sore, could be form. Who knows. Salem is the kind of bloke I see that could get to an elite level if he has a pre-season like Viney. He needs to get himself much fitter and he needs to trim down if he wants to reach his potential. I reckon there are a few in the same boat.
  15. I doubt it'll happen but I'd like to see four changes: Ins: Dunn, Trengove, Kent, ANB Outs: Garland, Harmes, Jetta, Michie
  16. Would love to see Trenners put on a back flank and play a similar role to what Boyd does for the Dogs. We need a football brain back there and a bloke who can create with vision and foot-skills. Would love to see him back against the Lions this week.
  17. An average side just won four in a row. We haven't managed three in a row since the 1800's so I'm not sure why so many on here believe we're a monty to win 10+ for the year. We've shown we can win against good sides. But we have also shown we can lose to terrible sides and play horrible football. Our second half of the year is very tough. And games against Carlton won't necessarily be 'locks'. If we maintain our 'good form' then we should be right.
  18. That's a significant drop in price and I'm not certain he'd take it.
  19. Yeh but his 'technique' hasn't changed from last year to this. So where's the argument going? I didn't hear anything when he kicked 7.1 against St Kilda. Daisy refuses to detail what part of his technique it is that is 'flawed'. And everyone else just seems to say that it looks awkward. Which it does. But again, of what significance is that if last year he had exactly the same technique but was kicking more accurately?
  20. I'm yet to hear what it is about his technique that contributes to his inaccuracy from you. Solid. You've made absolutely no point.
  21. Well wtf are you arguing/whinging about ? The only thing it's potentially inhibiting is his distance. Have you checked the bloke's accuracy? What is it about his 'flawed' action do you see that needs changing? Do you understand that the last few steps he takes before hitting the ball are fine and his ball-drop is generally fine? And that that's the most important part of his 'technique' and kicking a football in general. What you're basically saying is that the before bits like his stutter steps etc are contributing to his inaccuracy? Is that right? How can you argue such a thing when to date, he has been pretty damn accurate with the exception of a few 'off' days. What are you arguing mate?
  22. The ball is always positioned more favourably in his left hand on his approach which is what makes it look like he's left-footed. He also takes his first step with his left foot, (I think). It's unorthodox, but works for him. The last few steps and then the ball drop are usually fine. It's everything before that, that looks like a mess.
  23. Cool. I'm giving a reason as to why he has a set-shot run up like he does. He is Jesse Hogan. Not Robbie Flower, or countless others.
