The merry-go-round will continue on the Oscar debate. O-Mac gets games because: A) Clearly the coaches believe in his long term success and B) We have nobody else on our list as replacement discounting Frost. (Injured). Therefore he is an outlier in that he will continue to get games, regardless of immediate form. At any other club, he'd be playing reserves on current form I understand this idea doesn't compute for some posters who continue to defend at all costs. But it's the fact of the matter. He is currently nowhere near the required standard.

Jetta's spot in our back six is unquestionable in my eyes. You need one small lock down and for what he lacks in offensive gut running, he makes up in his agility in close to get around opponents and more often than not makes the correct decisions under pressure. He also makes really effective spoils for such a small defender. I love his hard edge too. I certainly feel much more confident in our defensive six when he is part of it. That includes Hibberd. They help out the McAllovertheplace brothers to no end.

Vince will definitely get a week going by his history. He commits unnecessary acts like that too often, it's infuriating. Especially given the way he played on the weekend and how important his ball use is. As much as I disliked Oscar's game, he won't be going anywhere such is the lack of KPB depth we have at our disposal and the fact the Frost is injured. I'm sure I'll sound like a broken record by the end of the year if not already, but if our midfield doesn't fire during games like in the first quarter, we'll concede many easy goals due to the fact we have guys like O-Mac playing when they shouldnt be. There may be those who think St Kilda's pressure was what made it hard for him, but I completely disagree. Many of his mistakes were due to slow reaction time and poor decision making. His last JLT game and then this weekend's game he has been awful. Ineffective spoiling leaving his man free, getting caught with ball in hand, weak and slow around the contest and turning the ball over. He did all of it on Saturday and it makes us look so second rate. Tom was better defensively but still made too many mis-kicks etc. They're both so hit and miss with that stuff. It's clearly our weak link. Teams would be salivating at the idea of getting Oscar in a one-out situation. I also don't buy into the idea that Tyson needs to come back in for next week. He can bang the door down and get his opportunity that way. I prefer our midfield without him at this stage. Imo it's him and Oliver vying for that same inside mid spot. Neither of them play much up forward or back and Oliver's form is irresistible. Jones is possibly the most recognisable player in our side, is an AFL club captain who been playing with us for over a decade and has worn the number 2 against them on 15 occasions. How embarrassing for them. I also would have laughed at them.

Oscar for anyone. No Tyson until one of our mids have a poor game and Tyson has a belter in the VFL. There is absolutely no need for him to come into our side right now.

He was god-awful. He didn't work himself into anything. He generally made mistake after mistake after mistake the entire match. Fact.

Loved our grit. Goodwin also a smart operator clearly. Oscar McDonald. Out. Now. I would have Pedo in ahead of him in a heartbeat.

Viney's first and second games were fine. Jones, Lewis, Oliver, Salem and Viney have had uninterrupted summers. Brayshaw and Petracca will roll through there. I just don't see Tyson making the team based on what I said earlier.

Tyson will not be picked for Saturday's game and here is why: - Positionally speaking, he offers the least when compared to most of our mids and given he's played one awful JLT match and one Casey game in which he hardly dominated, I'm not sure why everyone thinks he's a lock for round 1. He is both out of form and underdone and is competing against a young midfield brigade who have had full summers and played the majority of the JLT with at least one really good performance. - We don't need another slow two-way running ball extractor injected into an already fairly one-paced midfield against a fast St Kilda side on a fast deck. Especially when he has no form behind him. - Tyson would have been a lock a couple of years ago in this particular position due to the lack of depth and talent our midfield had. Clearly we're a completely different midfield and it's now our strength. I honestly don't know why most have him locked.

And if not them then Watts will easily out-body a full-forward. As will Garlett. Garlett is seriouuusssly underrated as a full-back.

Look. We already have one excitable larrikin claiming to be certain that Spencer won't be lining up when teams are announced on Thursday evening and I'm not sure why given what we've heard in interviews from Goodwin, Lewis and Tom McDonald as early as last week. He's going to look silly when it's announced. Hogan has been starting on ball, at half forward and has roamed the wings throughout the JLT series, (as well as playing deep forward). They wouldn't try that sort of tinkering for shits and giggles during the JLT. Given that Riewoldt is somewhat of an uneasy matchup for the 'traditional wingman' type, I fail to see how manning him up with Hogan at some stage during the game is a "crazy" or "silly" idea. In fact, it's a very feasible option. Here is why: 1 - Riewoldt seems to do what he likes against us, be it taking contested marks on the wings, up forward or down back. We've never been able to match him up, so why not let Hogan play a similar role and see if Jesse can command some accountability from Nick? Must we always be dictated by what other sides do? 2 - It's clear as day that one of Gawn and Spencer do not work in fantastic unison with Hogan when they're in the same forwardline. We have mids who like to kick it to packs and we seem to often witness Hogan and Spencer/Gawn flying for the same ball. They don't work well. Gawn is much more dangerous on his own, as is Hogan. Weideman is the only one I'm quite uncertain about. If he plays, Jesse will definitely play up the field and if he doesn't, Jess will spend more time forward. I'm only contributing to what I think needs to be done in this particular match. St Kilda are an awkward opposition and I think we need to funk some things up in order to give ourselves a chance. We are too vanilla if we line-up as ya'll think we should.

We'll see. I disagree strongly.

He dominated against a backline without Brown and Carlisle. It's a blank slate now. He's also played a lot of game-time up the field in the JLT. Hogan needs to play up the ground in this game imo. Like Riewoldt, we should be harnessing his running capacity and ability to impact contests in the air. I still think he should play on Roo. Posters throwing up Vince and Bugg as options for a Roo matchup are kidding themselves.

I think it's becoming more and more likely we'll see a Spencer/Gawn ruck/forward combo with Watts and Weid. Hogan to play up the ground. His versatility needs to be used against St kilda.

Haha. A mature age rookie who is a complete unknown quantity at AFL level and a guy who has been playing forward for the last two years and is certainly not an AFL level KP back. I wouldn't say we're 'cool' at all. In fact, we'll be in quite some trouble if one of the McDonald boys go down in round 1.

I know people keep saying this and it's a valid point. But the exact same can be said for the Saints. Carlisle and Brown without doubt strengthen their back-line which was a weakness last year and Steele provides further depth and talent to their midfield. We've improved and so have they.
