  1. At least May is closer to being ready this week than next week..
  2. I haven't seen us do it yet and therefore expect to lose against a hard running and speedy Saints.
  3. Indredible. It won't be long before it becomes, "at least he is trying".
  4. I'll take it on board. Thanks.
  5. I just lol at posters who defend Frost or Oscar. Franklin hasn't done a pre-season in two years, his form has been extremely average. Frost marked him. That was it. Broke even if a kick wasn't to Franklin's advantage (which happened many many times). Do posters completely miss things like kicking it directly to an oppo player when in defensive 50? Over-running a loose ball, missing spoils, fumbling etc etc? You know those things are indicators as to whether a player has 'had a good game'? Look, I understand this is Demonland and there's this weird blind-faith stuff going on. I'm not sure if you read my post either. You must have missed the part where I said "pity we can't do anything until May and Lever are back".
  6. Hindsight or not, Preuss should have been our starting 22 from round 1. I was wanting it to happen and others were too. The way he was deployed last night is exactly what we need, it's just annoying that it's taken until round 4. Goodwin played him deep on Aliir and it worked a treat. Aliir murdered us as an intercept player last time we played the Swans at the G. Everyone knows we're sketchy with our skills, our entries are not always clean and we have players who have a tendency to rush their kicks. This is why playing a monster deep in the forward-line is important for a team like us. He drags away an important oppo defender, it allows for T-mac to get up the ground and it completely straightens us up. As long as our mids continue to assess what's ahead, it gives us so many more options compared to playing Weid and T-Mac inside 50. It's a huge change. ANB out of the side was also a very welcome change. He was literally just creating more congestion when he was playing. Usually doing nothing when around the ball and allowing his opponent to be a get out option for when the oppo were winning the ball. Spargo is a very smart player with ball in hand even if he's not overly quick. He usually always weighs up his options and makes smart choices with disposal. He stays. Trac is improving every game now. Just needs to stay as clean as possible. If Hunt continues to take his chances, hit the scoreboard and use the ball in a smart way, he clearly stays because his speed and chase down ability is needed. I think the addition of Garlett in this kind of a set-up on a big ground like the G could really help too. If he chases and pressures at Casey this weekend, I think we play him against the Saints. Forward-line becomes much more dynamic and unpredictable due to short hit up leads from talls like Weed or T-Mac, going long to a Preuss contest, giving Petracca or Melksham a one-on-one chance (both strong in the air) or if the ball hits the ground we have speed in Hunt, Garlett and Spargo to really pressure. I'd like to mention that Petracca's willingness to chase and harass the opposition inside 50 was a highlight last night. He worked extremely hard off the ball. Whatever happens, the forward line must stay the same for a while. Backline clearly needs to change. Oscar. Frost. Happy to play the Saints without Oscar this week. Coincedence that we looked so much better off when he wasn't on the ground?
  7. Good second half. Some positives. I think the SCG masked much of our questionable positioning that has been on show at the G. Hardly anything to jump up in the air about. Will all come undone if we can't put away St Kilda at the G.
  8. Frost had another poor game. Turnovers, brain fades, body positioning. Every week he kills us. Pity nothing can be done until May and Lever are ready.
  9. Didn't realise Brayshaw and Oliver were late outs?
  10. Did he say some more stuff?
  11. Pity Pedo isn't playing anymore. He coulda set Heeney up with another mark of the year attempt.
  12. Looking forward to Rampe and Aliir taking a combined 25 intercept marks tomorrow night.
  13. I love Jonesy and always will. But Goodwin's decision to replace Tyson with another true contested midfielder on a WING highlights his stubbornness. He is refusing to adapt and is reminding me of Dimma when he was trying to be Clarko with the wrong cattle. Goody plays contested ball players on a wing and at half-forward and we will continue to be exploited in those areas until we make a list adjustment going into 2020. I don't care what instruction Jones or ANB are given.. It is in their nature to gravitate to the contest.
  14. Lol. Good one.
  15. He is class and polish, that's why he'd be huge. We have zero X-factor in our starting 22. He has the ability to kick a goal from nothing, the ability to set-up an opportunity for goal that wasn't there. He is quality and we are absolutely desperate for that forward of the ball.
  16. If we can continue on with some consistency then I'm expecting Franklin to kick 12 on Frost, and Oscar to find himself manning someone like Papley who will kick 6 on him by running circles around him. Can't wait, should be a corker.
  17. Martin would be huge addition. It's a pipe dream though.
  18. We heard you yesterday when you posted the the very same topic under a different user name.. (The thread was merged). It's still a strong no.
  19. With ya. I'm thinking Maxy Gawn on a wing too.
  20. For me, it's always been a matter of personnel not being able to execute the style of defence Goodwin is hoping for. Frost is not smart enough to know when to go, when to hold back, who to cover etc. He doesn't have a footballing brain. He is an athlete who is wildly inconsistent in all facets of the game. Oscar is the opposite. He is slow which stifles his positioning ability majorly, he lacks awareness and is super slow to react so he's not really the ideal candidate either. He doesn't have a single standout attribute as far as defending goes. Of course there are other issues. Goodwin's strange selection decisions don't help the back six form any sort of cohesion, trust or continuity in their playing. One week we have Hore on debut. Two weeks later it's Wagner taking his spot. The story hasn't changed in that sense since Goodwin took over. Backline is always a shambles. Hunt goes from backline to forwardline over the course of two games. Every great side have a solid 6 who know how each other play intimately and trust each other. When I see four players fly up for one spoil (including smalls like Jetta and Hibberd), it tells me that those guys have zero faith in Oscar or Frost getting the job done. I can't see us making any significant progression in that area until May and Lever have played at least 10 consecutive games together at AFL level. That's when Oscar can drop back to a really minimal third tall role if need be. That's when Jetta can get back to beating the best small forward an oppo have. It's when we'll see Hibberd return to a flank to provide that drive with his run and kicking. Etc etc. Everyone's roles will be simplified and confidence and structure will be restored. Until then, we'll continue to be wildly inconsistent as a back 6.
  21. * Zac Clarke not Zac Smith. Don't know why I can't edit my post.
  22. We're in week 3 of the first season of the May/Hogan trade and Jumbo has already called it a disastrous one. #demonland I'm with others in that May should most certainly have known better. And the evidence is that he is a player who is 28 years of age, is an ex-club captain at AFL level and has been in an elite training environment for how many years? I find it funny that posters would believe the words he used in the 'media', a platform where truth is always bent. It is crystal clear that he arrived at our club in a poor condition. That is a reflection of him, not the Gold Coast Suns. And I would also hedge my bets that his soft tissue injuries are a result of all of this. Clearly annoying. Means I have to deal with Oscar and Frost for a few more weeks. Yay.
  23. I think you mean when Frost left Stringer to confront the kicker who of course then hit Stringer. Stringer then hit-up Parish who missed. As for the 'Frost having the last laugh' comment, I can see why you think 'simpletons' are the ones who believe that Oscar and Frost are our most significant problem defensively speaking.. Your unabashed love for Frost is shining through. Some posters just genuinely have no idea as to what's going on..
