  1. It's a football forum. What on earth do you expect? It's part of the fun. Trying to guess who will be a great player based on a highlights reel.
  2. Good to hear and I couldn't agree more. Our improvement as a club will come with drafting and developing a functional, deep and dynamic midfield and half forwardline. Not from McCartin or any other tall at this draft. The power and North Melbourne's rise this year and last was a result of a fit, functioning and deep running midfield. Not from their forward line. In fact, I'd argue that we've a more dangerous forwardline than both of those clubs. We need to draft two mids who we will finally be able to develop into genuinely good AFL midfielders. It's of utmost importance. KPP are the cherry on top and are much easier to trade in. Forget McCartin, it's our midfield that needs to be addressed first and foremost.
  3. I never knew that being a self assured and confident young man meant you are arrogant. I have no idea where this arrogance [censored] comes from when talking about Petracca. He has one of the more professional attitudes I've seen of this draft. Comparisons with Sylvia? Give me a [censored] break.
  4. Throw money bags at Treloar and Danger next year and we're on our way Imagine a midfield rotation of: Jones Dangerfield Tyson Treloar Viney Vince Brayshaw Salem Toumpas That's disgusting is what that is.
  5. I'd have Treloar or Shiel before Toby Greene. He's a pest off the field and we've got Viney in the wings who is a similar type of player with similar attributes. We need a dynamic midfield and the missing ingredient atm is class and finish. Greene wouldn't give us that.
  6. Sure we can disagree. But I'll assume that's on the back of you never experiencing a serious knee injury before.
  7. 'Not training for 8 months' - TheoX
  8. Meaning dont take too much notice of that sprint test in isolation...
  9. Yes I know for a fact that serious knee injuries mean it can easily take longer than 12 months to get back to your top running speed. Youre absolutely wrong saying that he should have recovered most of his speed and endurance after nearly 12 months. Depending on the severity of the knee injury. You do know that in some cases you can't do weight bearing exercises for months? Meaning building up power, strength, endurance and flexibility in the surrounding muscles is a slow and delicate process for anyone with the desire to get back to performing at their best. You're calling him slow based on a sprint test he did post knee injury and what would still be a recovery phase. The reason he completed some of the combine testing was to show how diligent he has been with his recovery and to increase his chances of getting drafted. Youre looking at that isolated sprint test and calling him slow based off that. Which is not the full story as I've said. If you speak to others who have seen him play post knee injury, or even have a look at his highlights reel, you'll see quite simply that he isn't slow.
  10. I disagree and that testing is not the full story. His highlights clearly show that he has a turn of speed. The injury has clearly had an effect on his speed and endurance which is evidenced by his test results but that doesn't mean is slow and if that's what you go by when determining draftees attributes then you're missing the bigger picture.
  11. His speed will come back with further training. He tested after his knee injury. Obviously speed and endurance will be down until he hits his straps.
  12. It's BP, isn't it.... He must still think he's on a list.
  13. McPharlin *When you say recruiter, what exactly do you mean? Is he actually a recruiter for an AFL club, or is he a part time scout who reports to a part time recruiter of an AFL club? Definitely sounds like the latter because the only thing that Lever and McPharlin have in common is the fact that they have played* in the same position and are a similar height. I don't see that comparison.
  14. Judd is another. (Even though he was still pick 3).I just don't see how we could go wrong in picking a 194 cm footballer with kicking skills, aggression, speed, ability in the air etc, a captain, a professional attitude... Build him a tank and a body and groom him as a mid. Happy days.
  15. Lever strikes me as the player who will be the star of the draft. The bloke who got an injury, slipped down the pecking order a bit and because of the risks involved, clubs became cautious. I want the MFC to have the balls to pick him. Reading his bio and seeing some footage, it sounds like he has every attribute covered. He's made a full recovery from his knee injury. Many current day stars at clubs were picked later because of injury during their last years of 18's footy. We're in pole position to land one.
  16. Draft two midfielders at 2 and 3 who genuinely excite the football world, get close to making the 8, throw an empty check book at Danger + all the trimmings and Danger is a dee in 2016.
  17. He may well be a brute. But from what I've heard, read and seen, he's not unbelievably skilled as a forward. His goal kicking is pretty woeful if you ask me and he seems to lack speed and agility. He's an old school forward in my eyes, and even if he is rated highly by 'experts', he's not someone the MFC need at the minute and he's definitely not a once in a generation type forward. We need midfielders. Brayshaw, Petracca, Lever or Laverde before someone like McCartin.
  18. In order of preference: Petracca Brayshaw Lever Wright Wouldn't be dissatisfied with any of them.
  19. Surely it's time to move on from this line of thought. It's getting soooo old. Did Salem, JKH and Tyson not show you anything this year? Move on.
  20. Whilst this is neither here nor there, I thought I'd say it. Why all the love for McCartin? I find him extremely underwhelming as a modern day forward. He has limited attributes, his goal kicking is questionable and looks to be extremely one-dimensional. I'll be absolutely stunned if we picked him with either pick. Don't know why there's all this love for him.
  21. He honestly looks like he has every attribute possible. Possibly the pick of the draft. Height, speed, courage, kicking and overhead marking ability as well as aggro. It's almost too good to be true?
  22. Bring on Petracca and Brayshaw. (Saints will surely go with a tall?) Develop them properly and watch them become stars. The times have changed. With improvement next year, we can go hard at Danger and any other FA without having to give up picks. Happy camper.
  23. Don't know why supporters would be against this when he's another we could get for nothing.. He's had a couple of injury riddled seasons which haven't allowed him to play consistently enough to get his spot back in the best 22 but he's the type of player Roos would look at. Patrenko when fit provides the same forward pressure as players like Ballantyne, Puopolo, Rioli and McGlynn. They're all manic in their attack on the ball and man. We have nobody in our forward line who provides that. He can kick a goal too. I don't know why supporters just switch off when a player gets the flick at another club. He's got attributes we need. He fills a hole. Him and Garlett just being in our forwardline whilst the ball is in dispute puts pressure on opposition players. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we picked him up. Hopefully his body isn't too shot.
  24. My common sense says we wouldn't do such a thing. However we've got a bloke who's jumped on 'land claiming it a done deal and it's a major niggle.
