Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
Even with 2 first round picks next year in a better draft, I doubt it will mean much. Say we improve to finish 10th and our inherited pick will probably be further out than that. Say 2 picks 10 -15 range. With academy and father son that might go out to 15-20 range. I prefer to stick with what we know we have rather than gamble what we might get.

AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
When you lose arguably your two best mids you have't got a choice. We have to go for mids this year and next. We won't get it 100% right so if 2 of the 4 are OK then that is a good result.

No doubt someone will get their noses out of joint and there'll be another court case. Typical of previous fights over boards and the egos involved.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
Yes I agree. 2 of our most impressive players this year who improved as the season went on were Culley and Langford Both 190+ and capable of going forward taking a mark and kicking a goal. Don't get any better than Dear at Hawthorn, Crows captain or Bont at Dogs. My other one is H-H

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Steele
The same pick swap meant we got Steele for Oliver So we get 21 disposals instead of 25 but lose destabilising influence and gain leadership. Also have to pay out more in salary to other club than what we receive from other club, although we actually pay less than what we would have if Oliver stayed. I'm happy with that.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
A bit off script but still to do with new players, has anybody heard how Berry is coming along. Did he play anywhere towards the end of last year?

Yeah I'd take him and Greeves

The Kalani White Thread (F/S)
With Woey gone we have 33 on our senior list, 4 on our Rookie A and 2 on our Rookie B. We usually go with 36 Senior , 6 A rookie and 2B rookie to make up the 44. (Apparently helps with salary cap) If we keep to that we can only use 7, 8 and 37 slections. We'll probably use the 2 Rookie spots for Academy Picks/Father son.

Realistic 23 for 2026
We've got the same problem as last year. Even with Tracc and Oliver we rarely had a player get 30 possessions let alone 40. Hard to see who that player in our side will be. I guess a more attacking style and pace might help

Either is fine but prefer A

Realistic 23 for 2026
Salem Adams Turner CJ Lever AMW Langdon Viney Culley Chandler JVR Fritsch Petty Mihocek Melksham Gawn Rivers Picket Windsor (Mid/def) Lindsay(def/wing) Langford(mid/fwd) Steele(Mid/Def) 7 or 8 Em. Kentfield, TMac, Bowey Heath Tempted to try Bowey as a forward instead of Melksham.

You could upgrade Culley and have 37 after delisting Woey. Then 2 more A rookies. One of Sinemma, Te Amu or White misses out unless you use pick 37 for one of them.
-
Wade Derksen
With no Wade, I'd like to see jefferson do the off season as a defender. He's behind Kentfield in potential and with Mihocek coming his chances as a forward are limited. He filled in at CHB a couple of times at casey and did ok. He has good hands and is reasonably quick for his size, so might become a good interceptor.

Assistant Coaches in 2026
Cant imagine Whitford on the bench game day giving advice as choco did.

Assistant Coaches in 2026
I just hope they have some one to take choco's spot. Senior to high level coach involved in premierships to add experience and support in specialised areas, rather than a line coach. Hammil doesn't fit that.

Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
yeah probably something like Flanders to Saints, Petracca to Suns, Early draft pick (Suns) and Heath to Dees. Doesn't seem enough to us but maybe a future first rounder as well. Don't like it as we really need midfield depth that Humphrey would provide.

The List Manager Tim Lamb
A tall forward is more important to stop the easy intercept marking. Oscar played close on both Moore and DeKoning in their last two games and was succcessful while Neale played loose on Andrews and he had a ball. Maybe heath could fill that role. But you are correct they either have to kick goals or allow others to kick them.

2025 List and Contract Details
Just a suggestion but could you put RA, RB and S (Rookie A & B, Senior) next to the names under list changes. You can work it out but would make it easier. Given we normally go 36.6 and 2 for our list. So we lose McVee which would make the list from this season 32,4,2 Which means we add 4 senior list ( say 2 in the trade period and 2 drafted) and 4 rookies. So likely Derkson and Heath in the trade but might be others. Although you could add May to the possibles for another. So leaves 2 for the draft. Maybe White and Sinnema to the rookie list if they agree. Then pick 2 other A rookies. Whilst the names might be different it seems we are pretty much limited to 2 people from the trade period and same for the draft.

Jy Simpkin
Exactly the sort of midfielder we are missing. Gets a bit of the ball and uses it well. Oliver mainly handballs, Viney and Tracc are unreliable kicks. Rivers is a good long kick but not accurate passing to someone. Salem is the only accurate kick that sometimes goes through the midfield.

Jack Henderson Re-Signs for 1 Year
You have to have a back up small guy to cover injuries that is not a 19 year old, and if he suddenly starts kicking 4 or 5 goals at Casey give him a go. However if a younger small guy plays well at Casey you'd give him a chance first. Insurance value. He is not on the senior list so makes some sense.

Delistings 2025
Final lists not due for some time so might be more delistings to come. Especially if agreements are made to pay out contracts that would otherwise continue next year.

CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
We had 3 what you might call players who would be in contention for the senior side - Cully, Tholstrup and Howes. Cully threw himself in and made a difference. Tholstrup was hesitant and seems to have a slow reaction time and when he needed to step up and kick that goal -failed. Howes was not in the same class as some of the other defenders from both sides from VFL level. I don't understand why he doesn't get physical. When you compare him with Cully it's like chalk and cheese
