Disappointingly we are more than 10,000 below our 2020-23 Strategic Plan objective - Cozzie Livs I guess? Or something else?

Part 9: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2021
We were, but scooping up Judd via the rookie draft was almost a Wilmot lookalike and we got Roo as a consolation prize - not bad!

First quarter centre square stuff
One factor may have been a decision (I believe it was during the third quarter?) by the umpires to stop bouncing the ball. There had been a number of recalls during the game and even though there was no rain and this is the best oval in the country they made a decision to change that parameter of the game. Max seems suited to the unpredictability of the bounce (I believe he has said that before). Once the umpires took to just throwing it up Briggs took an aggressive position right on the line through the circle and Max was not jumping over him (perhaps related to his injury). Our centre clearance rate went south after that.

Standard of Umpiring
(a) is not relevant because he was within 9 metres of the line. Arguable if there was immediate physical pressure, but due to the behaviour of the Geelong players the umpire judged (b) didn't apply. So, he had time and space and therefore should have disposed of the ball. I reckon it was the right call. The rule was brought in to stop all those rushed behinds Hawthorn conceded in a final - if I recall correctly. The wider problem is that that situation is not always paid.

Standard of Umpiring
To assist the debate here is the law. A field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against a Player from the Defending Team who intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the football over the Attacking Team’s Goal Line or Behind Line or onto one of the Attacking Team’s Goal Posts, and the Player: (a) is greater than nine metres from the Goal Line or Behind Line; (b) is not under immediate physical pressure; (c) has had time and space to dispose of the football; or (d) from a Ruck contest, hits the football over the Goal Line or Behind Line on the full. The umpire has decided that (c) applied, and not (b) as the Geelong players go passive....

So how pathetic is the AFL: Dangerfield.
If I was arguing the AFL case at the Tribunal I would have showed the footage of a first gamer's tackle in the same round. Kynan Brown takes a bigger man down in a textbook tackle (pulling him back so there was no risk of the tackled player's head making contact with the turf). He showed a duty of care - and received the free kick. That was the option open to Dangerfield, an experienced player, that he did not take.

TRAINING: Monday 24th June 2024
It was the usual "flush" session. All 23 from Saturday night there - although Viney was in a tracksuit top, taking it easy (not unusual for these sessions). Spirits were good. Salo did not do the soccer drill, but Lever did - looks ready. No AFL listed players who played for Casey present today. Melksham joined the main group (see above). Hunter and Hore both did some warm-ups, but not the soccer, so neither seem ready yet. B Brown in discussions with physios.

CASEY: RD 13 vs North Melbourne VFL
I was present today and AMW can do nothing more to earn an AFL debut - and it wasn't just today - the so-called "body of work" is now there. Woey took a heavy hit and that may explain his reduced output in the second half. A much inproved performance by Jefferson today but I am not sure I would throw him in against the Lions. Another good VFL performance next and perhaps he could be considered for the Eagles at the G.........perhaps.

CASEY: Practice Match vs Carlton
TMac and Jefferson played the entire game this morning, so though named in the squad tonight, I expect limited minutes, if any. Tholstrup was pulled at half-time, so good chance he gets more game time tonight. Honorable mention for Andy M-W not mentioned above - very creative and dynamic around goals. Not much for Adams to do but he took some nice intercept marks.

Training Ground?
I don't think that AFLW games will be allowed at Caulfield as it is unlikely any structures (like grandstands) will be allowed inside the track, i.e. where the grounds would be.

Training Ground?
Nice retort!

Training Ground?
That might happen when our leaders tells us straight why the MCG precinct is hot a happening thing. Poor old Club 11 poured $500k into Gosch's, as did the AFL - in 2021. Something then went pear-shaped?
