  1. Just a few observations after watching the first half again... (not to say these points applied to the second half!) McDonald played quite well. Jetta also managed to keep his Giant from doing any real damage (coaching masterstroke at that point!)
  2. Round two just completed with a win, yet we have posters wanting to lynch the coach, swap one of our best for a 1st round pick, denigrate our VC with claims that he is not wanted as a leader, shoot our one true warrior for being 'past it' and drop a bloke who kicked 3 of our 7 goals. The cumulative effect is to paint a picture of a bunch of headless chooks!
  3. Disappointed in McDonald... he gave us very little. Disappointed in Smith he made several poor decisions to fly without influencing the outcome. Disappointed in Fritsch conversion. Very happy with Rivers... a real draft find! Petracca the difference. Hunt and ANB justified selection. Very Happy that Harley got through game. Max was solid. Clayton was good. We need a key forward that can mark the ball.
  4. How many breaches of AFL protocol were displayed when Selwood kicked that goal in 3rd Qtr? I wonder if Kozzie and Charlie cuddled their friends during their indiscretion.
  5. As much as it pains me, Frost has been good. Frawley very good in first qtr.
  6. So it follows that Rio Tinto's detonation of ancient caves is acceptable because they're a multimillion $$$ industry and the laws that protect them are not to be confused with the laws that protect individuals from desecration of their spiritual sites.
  7. Just as long as you've put it on the record...
  8. So you're saying multimillion dollar industries are somehow more important than me when it comes to making laws to protect the citizens from Covid 19!
  9. Its a strange thing when AFL players have to keep stricter rules than the rest of society. I just picked up daughter from her train trip home, we then went to the IGA to stock up for tonight's game, joining several other people who were doing the same... all legal I believe!
  10. Is anyone suggesting that Jones, Salem & Bennell wouldn't have been in the round 1 team if fit at the time? So really, we're looking at four new 'ins', Hunt, Rivers, Jackson & Smith. Considering Hunt played all but one game in 2019, his inclusion can hardly be classified unexpected. So the reality is, we have given Rivers a try ahead of Hibberd, we have opted for Smith ahead of O Mac and gone for Jackson ahead of Weideman or Brown. I don't see these changes as revolutionary!
  11. A measured response joeboy... congrats for not going too hard on a bunch of young men who were cast into an impossible situation!
  12. I was in normal "angry" mode while watching the game, but even before I read Max's words about the psychological effects of flying across the country and back in these dangerous times, I decided to cut the whole group some slack!
  13. I watched huge slabs of the other 8 games and saw so many instances of players being able to identify and hit a target inside 50, that it can't be a skill only available to the top echelon. I agree with everyone here who is angered by our poor disposal forward of the centre. It is the single, most obvious reason we are not winning games (and it is a coach killer). Do something about it MFC!!!! It has been our achilles for more than a decade!
  14. I swore at the telly as if there were 21 rounds to go! We have to punish the blokes who can't hit a relatively easy target... Tonight that means Spargo -> Out... Lever -> one more chance... Tomlinson -> slap on the wrists... Jetta -> naughty boy!... Worse than that ... These blokes gave us below par effort in the first half T McDonald, Melksham, Brayshaw, Oliver, Fritsch Great debut Kossie! Great game Viney! It was a mistake not to play Jackson!
  15. "vandenBerg’s injury came in unlucky fashion, with the midfielder simply kicking the shin of an opponent in Launceston." WW 1 FD 0
  16. AVB accidently kicked an opponent's leg when taking a kick early in the game... he continued on but was limping. It was the sort of accident that could happen to any player. I understand the concerns!
  17. AND YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
  18. AVB accidently kicked an opponent's leg when taking a kick early in the game... he continued on but was limping. It was the sort of accident that could happen to any player. I'm suggesting that his current condition is a new 'bruising' and not the old injury... but I understand the concerns!
  19. The whole club getting around Harley has positive outcomes that already make his selection a success!
  20. Can't believe the posters who think Jackson looked ordinary... Take a closer look! He got pushed around in the first two or three ruck contests, but then adjusted. As the second half progressed he began to get his hands to the ball first and we started to take it away from the contests. His follow up work is elite and he wasn't afraid to tackle with vigour. If you think he will be playing at Casey for most of the year, you don't recognise 'star' quality when its right in front of you!
  21. Brown was a bee's dic from a five goal game in his first outing for the Dees... still we have some here grumbling about his weaknesses!
  22. Weid became more effective as the game wore on. He was good in the final qtr. The important point is that he rucked all day, and he negated their advantage. Credit where credit is due. Jackson showed that he can give a chop out. In the first half his ruck work was promising.
  23. Aah, the self anointed 'expert' film critics that feel a need to be critical... just like the 'real' film critics... always an opinion, never realising that they are not representative of the wider audience. I never take any notice of the 'real' film critics... I see a movie that I am interested in and make up my own mind. Enjoyed this insight into the mind-set of our football team. There was a time when supporters would grab the Saturday evening Sporting Globe on the way home which would have a report on the first half of the game you just viewed in first person... The Herald would have the final scores, printed in red (I think) on the back page of the early evening edition. When you got home from the match you might have had a half hour replay (if your team was playing one of the big 4) on Saturday night... then WOS on Sunday morning for 'expert' analysis. Now we have the good fortune to view a very well constructed review of pre-season, a narrative from the inner sanctum, and we have the drop-kick media critics here claiming it was below par! Get a life! Bring on episode two!
