    Dunn

I noticed McDonald's contribution the moment he returned to the team. To say he is struggling is is to recognise that he is working his way back into match fitness. McDonald has been written off at every stage of his now illustrious (at MFC) career. I've been on him all the way. I once argued that he should be in the leadership team after a training session at Trinity, when I believe Rivers was expressing that identical opinion to our current skipper. Not many other posters here could see it. I'm happy with my judgement, as I am confident that those who are currently expressing his imminent demise will be eating their words as he leads us up the ladder in 2010!

    Dunn

upside outweighs downside, which has been reported accurately here, so I will refer to upside... Fast tall with stamina Well built mobile Good distance and efficiency when kicking into 50 Age Versatile... tagger (smalls and mids) half forward, running half-back, third man up at clearances Gets up oppositions nose!
  3. 6 C Morton 5 P Johnson 4 A Davey 3 B Moloney 2 C Bruce 1 J Bennell
  4. Maric was ordinary, but no more than some Sylvia games. I would be very disappointed in match committee if they dropped him. He will improve on this.
  5. Bartram - man for job Bate - made a contribution Bennell - lot to like Bruce - not his best Davey - prolific and dynamic Dunn - many positive contributions Frawley - b -o -g Johnson - noticed in 1st Jones - provided clean possessions Maric - strengths were weaknesses McDonald - never stopped trying Martin - I like him McLean - slow and labouring Meesen - creative in ruck Miller - poor game today Moloney - lacked effective disposal Morton - in best three Petterd - good contribution forward Rivers - still the man Robertson - a pleasing return Sylvia - goals on run Warnock - disciplined and successful
  6. 6 Davey 5 Moloney 4 Warnock 3 Miller 2 Jones 1 Morton
  7. Bartram - Smalls held early Bate - makes every effort Bennell - will be good Bruce - never stopped trying Cheney - second game blues Davey - easily our best Frawley - tough and effective Green - polished and involved Jetta - learning elite game Johnson - competed against odds Jones - prolific but wasteful Martin - best since Garland McDonald - a worthy leader McLean - still looks pedestrian Miller - gutsy and determined Moloney - excellent in close Morton - showed 2008 worthwhile Petterd stranded in pocket Rivers - still a tyro Sylvia - gave us nothing Warnock - excellent most game Spencer - developing project player
  8. Frawley was very good. Plenty of dash, muscled up and part of a tight unit. He is a youngster on the rise. He will not be dropped. It is silly to even suggest it after that game.
  9. Bartram - 100% focused Bate - swamped Bennell - precision under pressure Bruce - cruise control on Buckley - some positive touches Cheney - very good debut Davey - middle of road Frawley - come of age Garland - As you were Green - icing on cake Jetta - will get better Johnson - gave it best Jones - a new man McDonald - junk yard dog McLean - not a leader Miller - middle of road Moloney - the biggest +ve Morton - will be tagged Petterd - only dangerous forward Rivers - got through game Warnock - was not beaten Spencer - continued to contest
  10. 5 Moloney 4 Petterd 3 Cheeney 2 McDonald 2 Jones 1 Frawley
  11. Thank you fellas, I thought as much.
  12. I am a joint MCC/MFC member. I have been taking my children to the MCC Reserve in recent years by purchasing Junior Visitors tickets for $4.50 ea. My daughter is now over15 y.o.a. Can I use my adult MFC membership to get her in to the MCC reserve (is it transferable?) as well as my younger kids on the Junior Visitor tickets?
  13. Haven't seen a squad and haven't read the thread but I like picking my team! B: Cheeney Garland Martin HB: Frawley Warnock Bennell C: Morton McDonald Green HF: Bruce Miller Davey F: Wonna Bate Sylvia Foll: Johnson McLean Moloney Int: Spencer Jetta Buckley Bartram
  14. I think Garland is too finely built at the moment to take the unrelenting physical pressure (you need a body like Neitz, Roughhead, Richo to be a king pin... could add Brown etc). garland might be an answer when his upper body develops (like Bradshaw) I would leave him where he is at the moment. Top forwards are clever bastards and physical strength and intimidation are importatnt. I know Fevola isn't smart in the academic sense, but he is a smart footballer... Like a Lockett... Dunstall... Lloyd... Buddy? That's what I'm talkin' about!
  15. My amendments to joeboys appraisal Jones - had an influence McLean - clever around packs Morton - continues to impress Dunn - not in 22 Bell - was noticed early Moloney - better in 2009 McDonald - is always noticed Spencer - our best option Bennell - will replace Whelan
  16. Ok... some good news from a loyal sponsor. Now is the time to show our support for them. May I suggest that every MFC member go into a Pets Paradise store and buy something for your pet! Even if you don't have a pet! Make sure you tell the shop assistant that you are an MFC member and that you want management to know that you are in their store because they supported us in bad times (on the field and in the economy). It's time for us to send a clear message to potential sponsors... "we will buy your product if you jump on-board!"
  17. Jones - another dour game McLean - Tim Watson like Miller - aggressive and involved Frawley - Good in first Morton - Pops up everywhere Johnson - several deft touches Sylvia - only second half Dunn - was rarely sighted Petterd - hard but flawed Grimes - poise and class Green - good first half Garland - strength to strength Bell - ok before injury Moloney - much needed muscle McDonald - bread and butter Cheney - excellent running defender Meesen - tried , didn't fail Newton - gave more today Bruce - occasional clever glimpses Martin - calm and confident Davey - worked into game Warnock - in our best Jetta - reason to enthuse Bail - can get ball Spencer - gangly but effective Bennell - has indigenous magic Valenti - little game time Strauss - excellent under pressure
  18. Thanks Doggo, I've got it all now!
  19. Given what Hards and Ernie have said and what we already know, that makes... 1 Buckley 2 Jones 3 Bartram 4 Watts 5 McLean 6 Bate 7 Miller 8 Frawley 9 10 Morton 11 Johnson 12 Sylvia 13 14 Dunn 15 Petterd 16 Grimes 17 18 Green 19 Maric 20 Garland 21 Bell 22 Moloney 23 McDonald 24 Robertson 25 Cheney 26 Meesen 27 Rivers 28 29 Newton 30 McNamara 31 Wheatley 32 Bruce 33 Wonaeamirri 34 Martin 35 36 Davey 37 Warnock 38 Hughes 39 Jetta 40 Jamar 41 Bail 42 43 Bennell 44 Valenti 45 Whelan 46 Blease 47 Strauss 48 Jurrah 49 McKenzie 50 Healey
  20. Thanks JJJ and Big Red, a comprehensive report on the whole list, greatly appreciated by this Demon junkie!
  21. Yep! I'm on board. If only because he runs to block after disposing by hand (instinctively). We have precious few who do that. The rest is icing!
  22. I was there... quite a road trip... long walk because of difficulty getting into car park... stinking hot day... Bar was working well... Kangas killed us, set the tone for the season... Bate did hammy... Petterd busted gut... Senior players on extended holiday... As for the ground... Has Potential!
  23. Came to us from Bulldogs I think. Developed into a very capable tap ruckman, with good hands, big leap and ability to take a screamer every now and then. Was tireless when required to ruck all day. Had at least one excellent season where I think he did quite well in the Brownlow. Injuries slowed him down in later years. He was agressive at the ball and threw himself around quite a bit, may have been on report a few times. A favourite at the club in his time.
  24. Once Wheels got his body right (and for a while that seemed improbable) he slotted straight back in to his defensive role with his customary efficiency and grunt. Wheels should not be overlooked in the captaincy & leadership stakes, such is the respect his team mates and opponents have for him. He certainly is an influential role model for our indiginous players. Matty has had shocking luck when it has come to recent finals appearances, but he is just the type needed on the MCG in September. I rate him very highly, that is why I became a little anxious when his number didn't come up!
  25. 2008 Player review?????????
