Port & Bulldogs back 6's aren't too big a step up from the VFL I reckon. Undersized and constantly out of position this year. It might be the ample two games to debut JVR
-
I like your work on Wednesday's 360 Mr Montagna, but I think you might be a little off the mark on us potentially missing the 8

When we were up 2 goals to zip, I did not like the Petracca hit on Selwood after he got rid of it. Selwood dump kicked it directly to us, and we would've had a shot on goal to put us up 3 goals. I know we want to mentally intimidate them and their captain, but that wasn't the right time to do it. Minor quibble, but surely against team rules to give away silly free kicks.

Meh. No doubt we have some areas to address, but I'm not fussed about Skinny stadium in July. I'm more annoyed that Nadal pulled out of the Wimbledon semi vs Kyrgios tbh. Had a big Friday night/saturday morning of all footy and tennis planned.

Of course. I was just being facetious towards this Brown v Weid debate on the team changes/selection post each week
-
Weid won't come in for Brown, if he doesn't perform. We'll double down on the small forward set up of Big Max and his Minions (Spargo, Kosi, Bedford & Chandler)

Witches Hat's Guide to Posting on Luke Jackson Thread

Noticed that too, Painful. Any Demon content is better than the afl media dross, but the deebrief could benefit from the cull of a regular guest or two to make it an easier listen. Adrian the host and a few others are fantastic though! Hope Ryan from the demon army goes on it more too, very knowledgable. -
The Dogs should throw in Schache, we're running low on marking bags

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen

Well that was a disappointing bump that had nothing to do with a CONFIRMED DEBUT haha -
Clarry plays a blinder every week. Rain, hail or shiney 7 year extensions!

Ah the dreaded Norm Smith Jake Spencer curse resurfaces

Doubt it. But I wouldn't mind somehow getting their 1st round pick and Hogan involved in a 3way trade W Freo if LJ wants to go.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)

The comparative body types might give us a clue - let's just hope Freos first doesn't end up a Dennis Armfield -

Of course, we're just playing hypotheticals here. -

We would turn down two first rounds and Griffin Logue. But If Both clubs know what won't get it done this far out, then they can both work on ascertaining which "future" star will have to be swapped. And working on a dialogue that gets both the player and team to amicably agree to have the Dees take up that contract. You have to give up part your future for a different one ala Judd/Kennedy. -

If there is any truth to the Damo reported rumour of LJ heading to Freo. Can we pry away Hayden Young in a pick package? -
I can only see BBB coming out of the side, if he slaps a team mate with a celery stick at a vegan cafe

Poor Jake. Had a great opportunity to have 5-10 game spell at senior footy and boost his trade value and career prospects, but I recall he overestimated his abilities by diving head first into a Richmond player for a tackle (instead of keeping his feet) and he wiped himself out for 3 months and that was that.
-
I sincerely doubt that he would've gone for a big bump off-ball on a young fringe Richmond player like Ralphsmith or Gibcus. He saw an opportunity to do it on Prestia and he went for it. Maybe he didn't want to deliberately get him in the head, but I think it was a definite attempt to take out their best player for a certain amount of minutes, so they could get capitalise. Edit: And it's fair play if you don't get him in the head (re suspension) - but when you do, you've elevated it to the high end of the scale in terms of 120 minutes of advantage. Chris Scott would've encouraged that kind of play, he's only getting on the front foot now because it's about minimizing the weeks he'll miss via the GoOd ChAraCtEr defense. I think the intention to take out a key Richmond player supersedes any good character stuff they throw up in the next week. Either way, I don't give a [censored] about both teams. Richmond is experiencing a bit of karma for Cotchin taking out Coniglio or was it Josh Kelly? in a prelim.
-
Yes, as usual. Whether its AO or GHMBA, you can count on the umpires to squib out of making the tough deliberate or HTB calls in the last minute. Our job next week is to get a big enough lead to take it out of their hands, unlike last time.

Gawn/LJ ruck combo with sprinkles of Weid to get him involved imo. 40/40/20 perhaps. We continue covering our bases for the future.
-
Just an idea but I really loved the ruck rotation tonight with Jacko and Weid, not only for Jacko's game to get some continuation that helped him gradually get on top of BIG O around the ground, but for Weid to get involved and gain some confidence. SO when Gawn comes back, how about a 3 way ruck rotation. It was great to see Jackson in the ruck more, but it's a stop gap, there's no way he has the endurance to keep this up consistently for the next 12 weeks imo, so we need to work on a schedule that keeps Jackson and Weideman involved around the ground and up forward. So they can hone both crafts for the finals and the future, LJ develops forward craft, Weid develops ruck craft. It's a Delicate balance, but if LJ is sticking around, he will be the main ruck within 2 years possibly even next year, so he can bide his time. Gawn in ruck, Jackson half forward, Weid forward with BBB Jackson ruck relief, Gawn forward with BBB, Weid bench Gawn ruck, Weid forwards with BBB, Jackson bench Weid Ruck, Jackson forward with BBB, Gawn bench Gawn/Jackson ruck again, Feel of the game dictates who rucks/plays forward/sits on bench Or something along those lines anyway,

I like the placement of "supposed" because it clearly refers to the media. Anyone that's seen Fremantle replicate our defensive systems and restrict oppo's to 50-60 points knows they are out biggest competition. And those that have compared Geelong forward line to everyone else's, and now seen Chris Scott talk of loading, should be prepared for them to be up there too. There was a reddit post earlier this week with a Brisbane fan [censored] on Todd Goldstein for 'wasting his career' - I kindly remarked, that Toddy has played in 2 prelims in 2014/15, how many have these Lions players played in? 1. Three years at the top and North are still ahead of them for their achievements. So yeah, not to [censored] too hard on them, but they are in serious danger of squandering this window and coming out of it with close to nothing, if they can't step up and be a true contender like their ladder position often reflects. We all like Fagan, but maybe they need to shock the competition and appoint somebody else if they go out in straight sets or get demolished in a prelim again.
