Demon3165 most on this site understand that we have a forward 50 connection problem. In the last two years we have run out of key forwards leading into our finals campaigns with devastating results, however what hurt us the most was goal kicking accuracy. This year we have bought in McAdam, Fullarton, Billings to provide a different skill mix and help improve connection and to provide Max with a chop out. But we have started the year without Petty, Brown, McAdam and Fullarton due to injury and Kozzie due to suspension. Only time will tell whether the addition of this group will help us improve connection But I would bring Fullarton or Verrall into the team immediately and send Josh back to Casey.

He must have been reading Demonland for the “Last Two Years”, why doesn’t he tell us something we don’t already know…….!!!

Agree Mono would love to see Taj play half back, I remember when Shane started out on the back flank he was very good.

Thanks DD that is a huge drop off from our average 2023 numbers although great effort from JV, Clayton with disrupted preseason, Blake Howes, Judd McVee and The Duke stood up OK. I’m thinking it may take a few games and a bit of tinkering to adjust for Yze / McQualter changes in midfield coaching and managing the feedback from box to Goody. Poor start to season.

To be honest in the first half the difference was Swans took their chances and we didn’t but we’re still in the game, third quarter it was a neck and neck game and we were right in it. Last quarter Swans were all over us and their better players really lifted, they got a run on and it was game over. Overall very disappointing Swans outplayed us on their dung hill and in oppressive conditions. Selection committee made an error playing Chin, Bill and an underdone Spargo whilst playing Billings as the Sub??? Losing Bowie really hurt us (and him), Howes, Windsor and McVee are all goers and the rest of the team will be better for a hard hit out. Hope that Fullarton and Woewodin plus a couple more play well at Casey tomorrow as we need a bit more class in the side ASAP.

I have enjoyed all the posts thus far, feeling pretty relaxed at the moment and looking forward to seeing a Dee Victory up in Sydney Town. Comeon the mighty Dees.!!!

I hope Max hasn’t put a mozz on him one of the Captains nominated him to win the Rising Star Award and Max is probably the only Captain that knows he exists. Lol.!!

Unfortunately the club can’t list their weight anymore so we may never know who is building body mass and who is trimming down. The AFL are going just a tad too far in some directions but not protecting the most important aspect the head. Quite weird if you ask me.!!

Thanks Andy, Binman, George On The Outer and all posters some great questions and responses, we are definitely champing at the bit to get this season going and wow 9 players under 23 possibly in the starting 23. Sad to hear that Woey is a bit banged up, still a couple of weeks before Casey start their year.!!

Just for comparison sake Harry McKay is 200cm, Josh Schache 200cm, Tom Fullarton is 200cm and Will Verrall is listed at 199cm same size as LJ but still a bit leaner. Whereas Farris-White is a 206cm ex-basketballer who hopefully gets extra time to develop into a high jumping ruckman.

I have gone off the Chief he goes out of his way to call “frees” against us but doesn’t recognise a throw when he sees it. Don’t like any one sided nits, he reminds me a bit of Malcolm Blight. Doesn’t like the Dees.!!!

To be honest MB I watched the game pretty closely and didn’t really notice Ed Langdon until 3rd quarter, maybe because there was so much going on and both teams were using the corridor more. We also had so many players that stood out but he did provide some good linkage when we did go around his wing. It was hard to take my eyes off zmax, Salo, JV, Sparrow, Laurie’s inside work, Billings kicking, JVR and Windsor is eye catching, our backline held steady. Tomlinson did what he had to do, McKay is huge, I would love to have a player of his size and power in our fwd 50. Fullarton played a full game in the 2’s and went ok backed up by Verrall and Farris-White and Verrall came on in the last and looked comfortable at senior level as did young Brownie and the Colt. With Petty, Clayton and McAdam to come back in I am feeling a lot bullish, but time will tell.
