  1. I think Mahoney deserves more credit than just "what would my predecessor do?" and I think the best candidate may not be the best "on paper" stand alone CEO, but rather someone who shares the same vision as his predecessors, one who isn't bent on mass upheaval to shape the organisation in their own vision; but who understands the existing culture, the foundations put in place and wants to further that.
  2. Mahoney has completed a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition), Master in Marketing, and completed an MBA in 2010.
  3. "Melbourne CEO Peter Jackson said “Josh Mahoney is a rising star of football administration. While in the acting role he has done a outstanding job, particularly in recent weeks, designing and implementing the significant changes in football structure and staffing. “He is a highly skilled individual and has proven he deserves this opportunity." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-09-24/mahoney-named-manager-football-operations
  4. They'll chase whoever gives us a better midfield mix, rather than "more of the same" so we end up with a lopsided midfield group, or alternatively a situation where a top 10 player is left out of the side for balance.
  5. The one team at the back of my mind that I couldn't think.
  6. I'd say Carlton or maybe even Essendon are into him. Essendon need to learn how run hard defensively as a unit. St Kilda don't need his grunt - they need class. Dogs wouldn't be an attractive destination at the moment, all going pear-shaped. Hawthorn would be just the type of team to come out of nowhere with a big offer.
  7. I think with Wines we'd run the risk of being like Port currently... Boak, Wines, Ebert, Rockliff... Plenty of grunt but little class or x-factor in the middle. They may have won last night, but they're an average side.
  8. Are you sure? Isn't it more important that we maintain our current off-field form, with someone who understands the culture and the atmosphere, than bring in someone who is determined to put their own stamp on it and effect mass upheaval? Worked pretty well when Roos handed over to Goodwin, and I think we'd be aiming for a similar "seamless" transition.
  9. The best candidate will be the best cultural fit. My money is on Mahoney.
  10. I can live without Wines. But if we keep bringing in better and better mature players every year, like we have been doing with increasing quality: Vince, Melksham, Hibberd, Lever... Gaff? Then keep finding late gold at the draft... If we can keep up that momentum, like Hawthorn & Geelong did, we'll keep turning out a powerful list year after year, and be around the pointy end for a long time
  11. How did JKH get a call up for that photo? Punching.
  12. Brother of Tom at Collingwood, however very different players.
  13. Dean Kent will need a new home by season's end, possibly keen to go back to WA...
  14. Does the intercept defender need to be a tall? i.e. if Hibberd is to fill this role, does he need to play on a taller player also? Surely Frost can come in & still be accountable on a tall, without being required to have great footy IQ. I understand the opposition will try to force Hibberd to be accountable, but I think we'd be able to cope.
  15. The idea that Brian Taylor could elevate anyone to All-Australian is rather... interesting.
  16. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-news-ed-langdon-being-sounded-out-by-victorian-clubs/news-story/df3693845d113828ede4aea3983647d3 Clearly youve been talking to someone...
  17. The AFL planted the seed. Jonesy got PJ on board.
  18. Dom is either ripe for trade... Or to go into the middle, as Vince/Lewis retire and Jones is shifted to the HFB. I know he gets lambasted for his iffy disposal, but at the coalface is where his value lies, and he is still young. Plenty of players have suddenly clicked around his age, eliminated the butchery, and finding awareness & intensity that was previously lacking. Jones for one (minus the intensity).
  19. Pedersen to be sent down back as a smoky option imo
  20. Not to Langdon or Freo, that's for sure. Never seen much from Langdon to impress me in the past though. Fair enough, if you think so, but I don't think Langdon really provides what we need, or if he'd be the first one we'd target.
  21. Hunt to a wing, Fritsch to the backline. Makes the most sense to me.
  22. Good call. We could have persisted like Worsfold did with the Neeld project, but had the sense to take decisive action quickly. Whether that credit goes to Goodwin or not, I'm not sure. I'll dig a little.
  23. Some sort of obscure joke..?
