  1. As I mentioned in another thread, did anyone notice Gawn had his calf heavily strapped against the Suns? I did, so him walking laps was no surprise. I also missed the Adelaide match due to other commitments, but watching the 1st quarter this morning, he obviously had heavy strapping on the calf then too. Its obviously something he has been managing for a while now.
  2. I’ve loved him at the MFC (but maybe not as much as he loves himself). Sadly it looks like his time is quickly coming to an end. It’s the decline in agility that takes the hardest toll.
  3. This naiive sort of appraisal is what sees a club walk away with empty hands, and contend for nothing. We won’t sign Gaff by winning a bidding war; there is more to the equation the just $$$ And it’s all relative; Gaff would rather earn a massive amount of cash in the right situation, than a relatively slightly more massive amount of cash at a club where it’s an uneasy fit. Culture is everything, and we have it. Whitfield or Kelly would be just as great, but are they even available? Are they likely to jump ship on GWS? Would they cost the same $$$ and tradable assets? Gaff is the FA looking to come back to Victoria. Don’t be distracted by longshot potential scenarios for other similar players.
  4. I’ve seen him as expendable and having value at the trade table, however... I’m beginning to think we’re attempting to build more versatility into his game without depending on him to dominate in a foreign position. In the near future, I can imagine: Vince/ Lewis retires Jones to HBF Tyson into the midfield rotation Not all that far-fetched. I think as supporters we have the tendency to foresee young players maturing & developing, but ignore the decline of those in their prime. At least, I do sometimes.
  5. Over-age player in the TAC Cup, has injuries, hasn’t got the same exposed form but has promise, was a late pick last year when his brother went at pick 2, so was overshadowed fairly significantly. I think myself and most dees supporters only paid attention because he was a Brayshaw.
  6. I’m surprised no one else commented when Max appeared to have his calf heavily strapped on Sunday? Walking laps during the week is to be expected.
  7. Surely it is. Similar to the current day evolved NBA strategy (a la GSW/Houston/etc.) of taking mainly shots that are either high percentage (lay-ups/dunks) or high pay-off (3s) in favour of the mid-range game of previous decades. You don’t miss often when you’re kicking from the goalsquare.
  8. Mark Brayshaw’s interview brings some much needed perspective to the feeding frenzy. I wish he’d spoken sooner, but I’m sure he was careful not to minimise such an act prior to judgment. This incident has come to be about more than just Gaff & Brayshaw.
  9. If he still had a foot in the Eagles nest, I think they may have lost it now. The strategy of trying to minimise Gaff’s culpability due to being provoked and the false claim that they played golf, may have actually irked the Gaff camp due to the likelihood it will result in a greater penalty than expected. I’m predicting 10 weeks.
  10. Running hard, applying pressure, playing a role... but jury is still out on this one.
  11. I actually think it was quite similar, in that he was aiming lower and missed.
  12. Personally, I’ve heard nothing regarding Gaff. Cards are being held close to the chest for now.
  13. Can’t see why anyone would give all those details then suddenly go coy about the name of the “young mid”... This guy is just having a laugh.
  14. Ben Hart halfway out the door at the Crows. Goodwin connection?
  15. Some top-shelf tough-guy talk on this thread.
  16. I won’t blame him for that at this stage. Still built like a toothpick and learning the AFL game. Maybe overhyped, but he’ll deserve it eventually.
  17. Is this a joke? Of course he’s injured. Isn’t it obvious?
  18. His composure at times just makes my heart sing. A rare find.
  19. About a year ago I accepted that Alex Neal-Bullen will, amongst other things, never be our most skilled player, will fumble at times, will choose the wrong option every now & then; however, he won’t get outworked, he’ll surprise with the odd clever decision & freakish execution (even if it looks like a fluke), he’ll contribute by doing a lot of the hard things that lead to team success, and he has the propensity to be just damn effective. He frustrates me in flashes, but I wouldn’t take him out of this side in a hurry.
  20. I like our chances against the Eagles better than GWS, with their current outs. Even if they’re back, they’ll be rusty. And MCG or not, GWS are back to being formidable opponent.
  21. I imagine most of us were, until he ended up on our list. And Essendon were too, it seems. Goody obviously knew.
  22. Interesting questions & pondering, and I think we will struggle to know the answers with any great certainty.
  23. I don’t think he’s up to it, nor would he want it.
  24. Unlikely in my opinion. More likely to go back to Geelong than anything.
