It'll be downgraded to a week

I'm not focused in the Brayshaw incident. I've moved on from that as you say.

First time stumbling upon this thread in a while and I have to read this.. How depressing
-
Still feeling incredibly flat. Can't help but think this is the one that we'll look back as the one that got away. Such a completely different feeling to this time last year. Was just hearing on SEN that Port are currently the walking wounded and if they beat the giants I feel like we could have gotten them at their most vulnerable. Trying to stay positive but it's a challenge to be honest. Worried that this game has mentally sucked the life out of the players.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What's your thoughts on Zane Zakostelsky mate? 196cm tall who's a bit of a utility playing between ruck and full back. He moves really well for a guy his size? -
I think this is more or a confronting photo. I don't want this to come off as offensive but Brayshaw literally looks like a dead body here. Oliver and Hunter showing genuine care whereas Steven May literally wants to murder someone and I think we know who that is. I will give a special shout out to Bobby Hill from the pies who whilst Brayshaw was on the ground and the teams had half split into groups, came over and gave Brayshaw a tap on the shoulder whilst he was getting treated by the medical staff. Only pies player i saw do this. Makes you also wonder how Neville Jetta is feeling. Assistant coach at the pies who has to work alongside a grub that's potentially sent a guy into premature retirement..

Absolutely nothing in the comments that give anything away except a troll comment from some random. He'll be fine to play Friday night imo.

Ita been proven time and time again that Gawn forward experiment has completely failed this year.

A compression bandage is a stock standard recovery use for majority of AFL players after a game to help with reducing off swelling and minimise the fluid build up. Makes sense why he's having a light day today as he's probably had a knock to the knee with some swelling or even a corked just above the knee. Would be using the RICE treatment and should be good to fully train by Wednesday.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
dazzledavey36 replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
My mistake, you're right I did misunderstand thr comment even though it was initially stated that it was again Maynard. In that case, if Gus feels that he felt mistreated by the AFL around the way he was handled then yes he has every right to pursue legal action which we've seen now from past players. Yes I completely misunderstood the comment as it was initially stated that legal action would be pursued against Maynard himself. I agree also, we're seeing a lot more ex players now taking action against thr AFL. This is why Maynard needs to be dealt accordingly by the tribunal. -
Michael Hibberd Hanging Up the Boots

Congratulations hibbo! I'm sure the kid from Frankston when he was drafted would never imagine that he'd pump out nearly 200 games at AFL level and win a flag. A great reminder that if you miss out in getting drafted at 18 to just persevere and never give up on your dream. Thanks for your service Pig. Now a life member and premiership hero.- 77 replies

Lol he's not going to pursue legal action Macca. Every game is a risk for any player to be knocked out by an opposition player. Players get knocked all the time I know we are all over emotional about the circumstances but it really is over the top that you'd think Gus who's got a history of concussion and knew the risk that he was one hit away from career ending would personally sought legal action against that one particular player. Name me the last player to pursue legal action against an opposition player for this particular case in the last 20 years? None, because they simply don't have the ground to stand on. You put yourself at risk playing a contact sport. Maynard will be dealt with appropriately. -

How can Gus sue on what grounds though? He knew that playing footy from his history of concussion that he was putting himself at risk with every game he played. I certainly think any talk of suing is certainly over the top. There would be a clause in his contract that if he were to take a hit and retire prematurely, he'd get a contract payout immediately from the footy club. Gus would only sue if he felt that club doctors did not prioritise his health as a priority and put him at risk by allowing him back playing against medical orders. In this case, I think the club hasn't handled this just fine. -
Usually with concussion it's pretty much rest at home. With his history and from experience, it's generally just rest at home with very limited activities from physical and mentally. Also limiting phone time, reading and anything that makes you focus in on something for a period of time. This is usually the standard protocol for about 2-3 days generally. It'd pretty much just giving the brain time to settle from the physical trauma.

Cheers for the update. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if last year's straight finals exit has crept into the mindset of some of the players, and all of a sudden there is that fear in the back of their minds. As you say, there is probably an element of mental fatigue from not only Thursday nights game but also from finishing top 4 three years in a row. It can become extremely taxing when you putting in all the hard work for little reward in September.

Tomlinson trained with the senior group?
-
The fact that Oliver wasn't there and players refusing to explain why is a concern to me.

How did Turner look as the forward? This whole Turner up forward experiment all of a sudden becomes intriguing. Good to.hear Brown trained.
-
Petracca in his press conference pretty much confirmed he rather Gawn be the solo ruck instead of bringing in the extra ruckman for Gawny to spend time up forward. Think that pretty much sums it up how the players must feel of the Gawn/Grundy situation.

Anyone will do give a summary of today's session?

My out of the box selection would be to play Salem in the Brayshaw role. He's had a quiet few weeks to the point where I'd drop him if we had a suitable replacement. But we don't. So this how I think we need to get him involved more into the game but utilising his skill set especially going inside 50. We know on his day he can be very creative and classy but him stagnated down back simply isn't working for us and we need to somehow get him involved in the game. Ball in hand he just sets us up well but because he's not getting enough of it it's effecting our ball movement from half back, so let's at least get him around the ball if need.
