With his growth and rapid development KC i wouldn't be surprised if Jason Taylor tries to hide him in the development league for a while.. If its true that his skills were on show in front of AFL scouts then no doubt clubs will keep a close eye. Watching that footage and i know its only development league, but jeez for someone who is 194cm he is seriously quick and agile!

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ballenden is a very impressive prospect. Saw footage of him last year and he was all class. He is exactly what we are after. Brisbane are very lucky. -
Well done to your boy Kiwi Demon. Hope the dees keep an eye for Mykelti.. huge upside and unlike Maaia Westrupp he is actually a gun at footy!

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised

Roos watched alot more of Brayshaw due to Tyler playing in the same team at TAC cup level. Roos did a lot of mentoring role with Gus when he was with Sandy. -
The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is from a saints supporter at Bigfooty. A very honest and reasonable response. Honest opinion from a Saints supporter. Selecting McCartin instead of Petracca is as baffling now as it was at the time. No hindsight required. Read any Saints threads pre draft that discuss us picking Petracca & the lead up to the leak we were leaning towards picking Paddy. Most Saints fans thought it was a troll the fact that we were even considering Paddy. The melt amongst fans ensued. After the draft fans obviously got behind Paddy & found positives. In my opinion the Saints recruiters outsmarted themselves. They tried to find flaws in Petracca not to pick him. He's lazy. He's arrogant. He's selfish. All because the recruiters shatthemselves when the Bulldogs shelled out big for Tom Boyd. The problem is the St Kildarecruiters failed to follow the fundamental rule of pick high end draft talent. They failed to pickbest available.Close to the draft all clubs recruiters were asked who they would pick at selection one. 16 clubspicked Petracca, one club Heeney & one club Paddy (obviously St Kilda). The scary thing iseven those fans with a lay opinion on the matter clearly had Petracca ahead of Paddy but theprofessionals running the St Kilda club failed in their duties. It's obviously too late now, the past is the past & I think Paddy becomes a pretty decent footballer when all is said & done. But Petracca becomes elite top five in the competition quality.Just quickly on Billings, as it's been raised. Billings was clearly a top three talent. The Saints recruiters shouldn't be blamed for picking him ahead of Bont. Pretty sure 16 clubs would've done the same. Apparently only Collingwood &the Bulldogs had Bont so high. We don't even know if the Dogs would've picked Bont ahead of Billings if they had the option. The concern with Billings is why has he failed to develop/why has the club failed to develop him. Fourth year in, he needs to show more. -
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
dazzledavey36 replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good post Palace. Said before that while Lever is a good young prospect his disposal by foot can actually be quite poor. Saw alot of adelaide games last year and some of his turnovers even without pressure were atrocious. Adelaide fans will say that while he is a decent prospect he needs to work on this area. I dont think Lever is what we need. We still need to continue to top up on midfield depth and a Ruckman/forward. I have enough confidence in Frost Smith Wagner Oscar and Hibberd to hold our backline together once they are all fit. -

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
dazzledavey36 replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Andrew your overrating Levers skills here. While he is an outstanding talent the games i have watched he is prone to turn it over by foot. Crow fans will say that of its one thing he needs to work on its his disposal by foot. And i tend to disagree that midfielder arr easier to find then KPDs.. Both Mac brother pick 53 and are set for 10 year long careers. Mitch McGovern who is one of the best intercept defender in the comp was a rookie listed player. Top 10 draft pick midfielders are hard to find. Especially when your drafting guys like Toumpas Morton O' Rourke Aish. Brayshaw ceiling is much higher then Lever. You can have an average backline and still win a flag. Just ask the westerteen bulldogs. What won them the game was their superior and competitive midfield. They have about 8 quality players that run through the midfield. Brayshaw with 50 games next to his game will really start to impact games and show his true value. 188cm 87kg midfielders like Gus aren't easy to find. -

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Darcy Moores development is going to take a halt in the same vein as Josh Fraser. Why? because he is being asked to be their number 1 forward coming up against the likes of Rance and Frawley who will monster him. His body is still growing and atm he should be playing 3rd tall foil like Weideman is currently. I feel for the kid because he is a super talent. Unfortunately letting go off Cloke might bite them back because he would always take the best defender and i thought that's where Moore played his best footy. Nakis while talented goes missing too often and very inconsistent. I'm very happy with Brayshaw and Tracca thanks. -
The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised

Wrights biggest weakness was for such a big bloke he was quite soft. In saying that i think Wright will be a star and a much better player then McCartin. -
The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
At the time Bruce and Membrey were no names. Riewoldt was supposedly on his last legs and it was a no brainer that they needed a full forward. That came on the back of the Saints throwing huge dollars at Tom Boyd. Hindsight is wonderful but if the draft was on right now the saints would take Petracca in a heart beat knowing Bruce and Membrey are established key forwards. My big worry is McCartin. I thought in the JTL series he looked too overweight and im not surprised he is having hamstribg issues. Overlooking Petracca i think will eventually haunt them like it did with Wines for us. Alan Richardson is close family friends with the Petraccas and like Todd Viney decided against going down the safe option and took the risk. Who knows if it will pay off. -
Trenners wants in on it. Jack Trengove @jtren9 AFL 2017 Brownlow: M. Gawn - Coleman: J. Cameron - Watch this Space: C. Oliver (scary scary good - get around him!) #youhearditherefirst

Even the greats of the game struggle with tag from time to time. Sam Mitchell was tagged out of the game last year by Tom Mitchell and that pretty much determined the result with Sydney winning quite easily. Mitchell has 0 influence. Oliver will struggle with tags from time to time. But he will also have days where he'll win alot more then his opposition opponent.
-
How will you know exactly that Clarry will be able to break a tag? He's never been tagged at AFL level to experience if he could or not. Opposition clubs will start to take notice of his dominance around stoppages and then we'll find out where he can break tags. Think your going a bit too early there AF.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

Just [censored] nuke the joint. -
Looks really trimmed up too. Could see him ending up like Josh Kennedy from Sydney after a couple of Pre Seasons.

Another impressive performance by Clarry. A big thing i have noticed is a change of style in his game. His outside work has improved vastly and noticed him running and receiving alot yesterday which was good to see. Also i notice he didn't have a stat in the last qtr? I watched the game game but i don't remember seeing him? Was he rested?

Good article on Jake about his year out and the change of scenery to the Dees. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/jake-melksham-reflects-on-his-yearlong-suspension-and-return-to-football-with-melbourne/news-story/87d7e87fe516329ca63cfa756db0adf6

So would i mate.

Both Ablett and Judd were also very explosive on the outside. Cripps aint that at all. Thats why Judd and Ablett were just the complete package. Speed, explosiveness, ability to win inside and outside ball and kick goals when rested up forward. Cripps is just a pure inside midfielder who has cleans hands in tight. My personal opinion is Cripps is so far off the Judd Ablett category its laughable. Judd and Ablett in their top peak were two of the best midfielders i have ever seen in my time watching football.
