I too have done some reflection mate and even watched the first quarter on replay. It was right up there with some of the best performance I've seen since the 2018 finals against Geelong. And you're right mate, our first quarter was as good as any this round. We really do need the likes of Melksham, Lever, McDonald and even Bennell to hit form to play consistent 4 quarter footy. They're quick on the outside. On the inside they're useless. Really hope Viney, Oliver, Gawn and Petracca tske advantage of this.
-
True that, it was a mix of both. Sydney applying the same pressure as what Carlton did to us and now shutting them off from their game style. If we can play 4 consistent qtrs like we did with our first yesterday then we can absolutely knock some of these good sides off.

Watching the Essendon. Bombers look fast and cleaned. So only flew into Sydney this morning then had to wait a couple of hours. Out of all the teams I've watched this weekend, Essendon look the best so far.

Sacked: Brock McLean reveals booze and drug binges
dazzledavey36 replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
No but its been well documented by Mclean in the past that his family were close friends with the Morans back in the peak of when all that chaos was happening in Melbourne. -
Vineys low imput was due to them having Ed Curnow doing a hard tag for majority of the game. I expect him to bounce back next week.

Gone are those days DD. Look how that turned out when a certain Mark Neeld tried to pull that [censored] off.

Apparently Weideman kicked about 5 or 6 goals in today's scratch match.

I think his run and jump is best suited up forward. For some strange reason we had the skinny Fritsch playing the legit full forward role on Liam Jones. This is the type of role Smith could utilise his athletic attributes. Bit like last year against Brisbane when he snagged 4 playing from the square
-
Besides two brain fades, I thought Smith defended well. I can certainly see why the coaches are in love with him. His athletic ability is quite freakish. I do wish he was playing up forward though.

Interesting that I just saw a stat that Carlton were older and more experienced then us tonight.

Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
dazzledavey36 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
No he was no where to be seen in round 1 as well. Some of his 2018 games were pretty ordinary. I'll cut him some slack for last year as he was coming back from a knee injury. All I am asking is what exactly is role? A dude on a fat size contract, I expect better return of services. -
I dont see why we can't play all 3 of Jackson, McDonald and Weideman. Yet instead of having a skinny half forward flanker at full forward why not stick Weid or McDonald down there instead. Use Jacko as the backup ruckman, and leave Weid and McDonald as genuine key forwards. Jackson showed there is something to work with. Feel like that more game time and experience the better. Gotta get Kossi and Vanders in there as well.

Jetta manning up on the 204cm McKay is one of the most bizzare coaching decisions I've ever seen.

Our forward line is an absolute shambolic . What use to be one of our great strengths has now been gutted and turned to [censored].
-
Senior players let us down. Where was Melksham, McDonald, Lever, Jones??? Veey poor performance. Trent Rivers was impressive and Bennell will only get better.
-
What exactly is his role in this team? We gave up two 1st round draft picks for someone plays zero accountable football. Needs to give more.

Trent River wowee what a talent!!

I swear I thought Justin Plapp was our forwards coach? Think back to Hell and Back when he was coaching Pickett.
