Dees' three-year dilemma: Is a premiership Hawk the missing piece?
  11. From fox footy The Dees are one of a few clubs considering trading for Ben Brown, who would take some of the pressure off Sam Weideman inside 50. His arrival make a call on Tom McDonald easier. It was reported on Sunday that the Dees had taken the lead in negotiations to land Brown, who kicked at least 60 goals in three consecutive seasons prior to 2020. They’re also right in the hunt to land veteran wingman Isaac Smith, who’s weighing up a move to the Dees or signing a new Hawks contract. With the Dees crying out for another genuine winger to support Ed Langdon, Smith or Jared Polec would be strong pick-ups. Foxfooty.com.au understands the Demons have identified speed and skills as a key priority to fill during the trade period and the national draft. Adam Saad would’ve been perfect, but he appears destined for the Blues.
  12. He doesn't have to wait until his 28 -29 Wise, this is where you're missing the point. I'd laugh at the rumour too if we had been playing finals since 2018 and showing that we are on the up each year, but we're not. And his 5 years at the club he's played finals once. He'll be 24 year knowing he's wasted first half of his career with limited success. There's enough smoke now to say that he's clearly not happy at the club. As i have already said, what that reason being is who knows? There could be other elements that perhaps we are not privy too.

Its family related. His kids live back in SA with his ex wife and he wants to be closer to them. Bit like the Brad Miller situation years ago.
  18. Agree 100% Same supporters that are happy that we had more wins than last year. Another failed year where players and supporters have had enough. We laugh at Essendon with the imploding of players, but that could be us this time next year if we miss finals again.
  19. It could easily be a range of things we aren't privy too behind closed doors. Could be a personal matter that wasn't handle in the right matter, who knows. Its easy to speculate from what we see on the telly, but hub like has brought out the best and worst of clubs. But its been confirmed by @Chook in Perththat he's not happy which to me says enough to know that its legit. Also wise, while we are not a bottom 4 side, we have underperformed as a club with the talent on the list and we've been mediocre. The club had the aim at the start of the year to play finals and we failed... again. Can't sugar coat this anymore. Players and supporters are now getting incredibly restless.
  20. Yes I've been known to say those things in the past on poor Oscar in the heat of the moment. But I made a real effort this year to not use the term 'spud'. We forget they're humans at the end of the day. But on a pure football sense I think its best he gets a fresh start somewhere else. But Melbourne fans need to also be realistic. We'll be looking at a late 3rd round draft pick early 4th.
  21. But don't you think its damming that the club preferred Joel Smith ahead of him towards the end? I think that's quiet telling on McDonald's behalf. And to the highlighted part, it happens every year during trade period and delisted free agency Wise. If Goodwin simply sees no plans for him at this footy club moving forward, then what's to say a Fremantle or North Melbourne that can pick him up cheap and get 10 games out of him. Its the nature of the trade and free agency world. May, Lever, and Tomlinson will be our starting backs next year with Joel Smith and Petty as our back up options. Oscar's had 6 years to show something and imo he's shown no improvement from when he started. It's time for him to move on and stop hanging on to list cloggers. Is the club is fair dinkum about being ruthless then its list changes like these that needs to happen. I do appreciate Oscar for trying his hardest each and every game and thank him for his efforts. But its time now that he and the club moves on.
  22. Its not harsh, just the reality really.
  23. In my first post I did also say clubs who are in need of depth backman who can plug in for a game here and there. For instance, Fremantle backing were riddled with injuries. Oscar would have gotten a a gig. Port at times also had a undersized backline. He's not going to clubs to be in best 22.
  24. Doggies, Port Adelaide and Fremantle would be the 3 who would be in serious need of a backman.
  25. Agree. I think some on here are getting confused with the Oliver talk. No one is saying that we will trade Oliver. That's not what concerns me at all, because let's be realistic, he's contracted and even if he actually requested a trade, I'm sorry but that club can cough up 2 first rounders as a starting point. I think the concern is that Oliver is unhappy at the club and fair to say that if we are in this position this time next year then yes he'll have every right to demand a trade. We as a club need to do everything in their power in getting it right next year to show guys like Petracca and Oliver that we are moving in the right direction. Right at this stage, the direction of the club is up in the air.
