  1. Jesus christ.. now it turns out he was sledging Joel Smith a d Melksham was actually sticking up for Smith. Sounds like it was Melksham was showing actual leadership by questioning May why he was drinking and having a crack at teammates. If this true that bravo to Melksham and a big [censored] you to Steven May. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/jake-melksham-has-surgery-on-hand-after-fight-with-steven-may-20220608-p5aryw.html Jake Melksham escaped suspension for his altercation with Melbourne teammate Steven May on Sunday because he challenged the key defender about his behaviour on the night and then acted to defend himself when the discussion escalated into a physical encounter. The Demons did not condone Melksham’s decision to resort to violence, but club sources said they took the view that he had acted almost on behalf of teammates in challenging May, who had provoked the fight through his behaviour. Sources confirmed that May had sledged teammate Joel Smith in the lead-up to the fight, alongside other banter. Smith organised the evening’s gathering, which the Demons were pleased was at a restaurant rather than a nightclub. Sources within the club said the ex-Bomber questioned him about his drinking on the night and his comments, which included those to Smith. May took exception and the disagreement escalated as teammates who were present, including Smith, James Harmes and Michael Hibberd, separated the pair.
  2. According to Jay Clark, Melbourne is among 4 clubs that's officially interested in Daniel McStay. Free agent so would get him for free. Stoked to hear we're interested.
  3. You're being incredibly harsh mate.. The Herald Sun paper has many great benefits, such as starting my firepit up in my backyard on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a couple of 🍻🍻
  4. My initial thought when I saw the heading on twitter was that he has obviously broken his hand. To see that it's surgery for infection is..... interesting...
  5. He's talking about Melbourne supporters mate..
  6. Whether you want to believe robbo or not but apparently some of the players did question May on why he was drinking in the first place.
  7. If Petty doesn't get up I wonder if Weideman will be strongly considered to play as a defender...?
  8. If it's true what May said to Melksham then that's an absolute cheap shot and a half. Probably one of the worst things you could say to a bloke that's just missed out on a flag. Can't be saying [censored] like that regardless who it is. I mean, what did you expect in return when Melksham was an undefeated amateur boxer back in the day.
  9. Think you'll find that Steven May's way of dealing with grief is to turn to the grog. His last indiscretion was because of a relationship break down with his ex who'd moved down from the Gold Coast with him.
  10. Was just speaking to someone who's well connected down there. Steven May's cousin, who he was close with passed away only last week which has completely shocked his family. This probably explains why he was on the drink.
  11. Yeah fair point.
  12. This guys sums it up best.
  13. I think we need to wait on some facts first before we start pointing the finer or false praising people. As we know know both boys were drinking and have had a disagreement over a light-hearted moment. I don't think that light hearted moment was Melksham telling May to stop drinking..
  14. And there's the difference in culture. Thank god for ours.
  15. Oh FFS... This is incredibly dumb by Steven May. If he knew about the protocols of not drinking while under the concussion rule then its stupid by him. Watch Mason Cox kick 5 now.
  16. Even our own players are giving us a clip..
  17. He still attends games but he's nearly unrecognisable now days. Has lost a ton of weight and doesn't do the Mohawk anymore.
  18. I always thought Adam Hunter from West Coast was one of the best versatile players I've seen in terms of being able to be a great lockdown defender, but then could swing forward and kick 3 or 4 goals in a game when needed. I reckon Petty has the potential to emulate this as his strengths is his reading of the play and strong contested marking. He showed some really positive glimpse back in 2019, but I also think he's needed more down back then he is forward.
  19. Another good performance yesterday in their 37 point win against the Calder Cannons 19 disposals 6 tackles 4 inside 50's and kicked a point.
  20. Wonder whether they'll give BB one last shot with the bye coming up to give the coaching staff a better time to assess some options moving into the 2nd half of the year.
  21. Interesting comments by Goody.. maybe it's not as simple as Brown out for Weideman? Seems like Weideman has been given things to work. These comments were especially after seeing his VFL performance. I highlighted some key points that stood out the most for me. https://www.afl.com.au/news/774791/-he-ll-be-sorely-missed-foot-injury-fears-for-big-demon Ben Brown struggled through his third-straight match goalless but Goodwin is backing the premiership hero to return to his best. In a bold move, Melbourne preferred to recall veteran utility Mitch Brown over promising tall forward Sam Weideman when McDonald was ruled out. "I don't think anyone's guaranteed a run in the AFL, everyone earns their position," Goodwin said. "There's no doubt it's competitive with our key forwards for spots. "Ben's not at his best at the moment but he's a very good player. Our challenge as a coaching group is to get him back into form. "(Weideman's) got to keep working hard on his game, continually be working on playing a big man's type of footy. "He'll have a good look at opportunities throughout the year but at the moment Mitch Brown is just playing better."
  22. Don't apologise. All those points you shared were fair and reasonable. In fact I think there has actually been some reasonable comments on here. No one has gotten personal towards the demon army nor bad mouthed them in general. I attended the North game and while it was a horrible crowd in terms of numbers their own supporters were way louder then us. They were certainly loud towards some of the questionable decisions going against them but it actually turned the atmosphere from dour to entertaining. I was gobsmacked because here I am all these years taking the absolute [censored] out of their supporters for not attending games but yet turns we're just as worse.
