  1. Esava is an athlete trying to become a footballer. This is coming from someone who worked a little bit with him when he was coming through the Murray Bushie ranks alongside Clayton Oliver. His athletic traits are impressive but he is also a pretty poor runner. Goes missing way too often in games and struggles to run out games. Don't ever really rely on him playing as a full time ruckman unless he builds his tank and stamina.

Still kicked 40 goals from 21 games. Loathe him or not, he'd be the perfect mentor for JVR who plays a similar game style to Riewoldt. Recruit another key forward through the draft and offer Riewoldt a two year deal with transition to potentially part time forwards coach.
  3. I'd be incredibly disappointed if we're not into him in a big way! Surely we're not putting all our chips into this Brodie Grundy basket ahead of McKay who fits a much bigger need for our list moving forward.
  4. As some have pointed out, was loud when Fritsch kicked that snap and Sparrow with the long bomb. To be honest it was a bit of a lul at times.. I'm comparing to 2018 and I certainly think there was stark difference between the two. 2018 really had that finals type energy and vibe and was certainly much louder throughout the game.
  5. Carlton and Collingwood are full of them aren't they. I know you joke about it but I actually agree with you. You see it at the soccer as well. Certainly have a voice. Played at Northen Saints in the EDFL when I first moved to Melbourne when I was 19. Whole team was was full of Greeks, Turks, Italians etc. Dead set some of the best blokes I've ever played footy with here and still to this day keep in contact with some. The footy trip with these lads later that year was next level. I'm back living up bush now but I remember I got a huge culture shock when my first Thursday night meal at the club, I was expecting your stock standard chicken schnitzel and chips you get back at your local country footy club. Instead I was served with a platter of home made salami and a few bottles of red.
  6. That's depressing.. I agree mate. We are just not a loud bunch in general compared to the likes of Collingwood and Carlton. I attended the North game this year with a best and while it was a poor crowd I thought North were far more vocal on the day. They were getting rough end of the stick with a few decisions so were up and about. Meanwhile me and my mate were a few beers in were quite loud and vocal and tried to get others around us involved. Crickets unfortunate.
  7. Melbourne are "raging favourites" according to Jon Ralph.

Not according to this video.. The selection was out of Jackson and Tom Green of GWS. No mention of Young.

Not entirely sure I agree with this. Takes a team of soldiers to win a flag, not an individual.
  10. Well clearly Goodwin doesn't rate them. So yes, I think we can certainly add better stocks to our small forwards. As I already mentioned above, the issue is that like the lack of tall forwards available, there isn't many other options out there.
  11. I'm in the same boat. It's not just that, but the potential to do much damage to the injury and affect his pre season. Rest him and bring in Dunstan to provide some real grunt in the midfield.
  12. Bit like tall forwards there isn't really any ready made small forwards that we could chase. Other then that, I agree with you. Another x factor small like a Pickett/Papley would add a different level of element to our forward mix.
  13. You really think lack of discipline costs us more then anything on Friday night? Wow.. Your disrespect for how well Sydney played is disappointing.
  14. Medical advise doesn't sound all that positive for Petracca.
  15. If Goody has refused to change up our personnel throughout the 2nd half of the year, then he sure as hell wont change it out of the blue for a cut throat elimination final. Goody's stubbornness has gotten the better of him this year. Incredibly disappointing.
  16. So everyone in the media especially a past champion of the game that knows forward craft better then anyone (Lloyd), knows this is a flawed system and have voiced this concer all year. Yet we've done nothing at all in rectifying this. Cool.
  17. We subbed out Luke Jackdon against Brisbane because he had a corcked calf..
  18. The more I have thought about it today the more they are a huge chance to win this.
  19. Agree 100% It's my biggest gripe for this year. I'd understand if Casey were performing poorly but they've lost 1 game this year. Look at the way Collingwood have integrated their young kids this year. They've 6 debutants while we've had 1 this year.. go figure.
  20. I enjoyed 2018 more to be honest. We played such a fast and exciting brand and would score heavily and won some pretty high scoring games. But we also leaked goals pretty easily so it was much of a muchness. We've obviously turned to a more defensive game plan which resulted in a premiership so can't complain at all from that point of view. I also lived in Melbourne at the time and attended a lot of games. The 2018 finals experience is by far the biggest highlight supporting the dees in terms of being there on the spot. 2018 was certainly from an entertainment point of view more enjoyable.
  21. Just watched a young key position player in Jye Amiss who in his 2nd game of AFL footy just take control of doggies defenders and made a solid contribution. The mind boggles that to this day JVR hasn't really come close to a debut. Time for ego to put his stubbornness aside and just play the kid next week.
  22. Hahahhahaahahahhahaha! Suck it dogs
  23. No I agree wholeheartedly mate. Goody coached poorly in this regard.
  24. All good Colm. Hope we can go as far as we can.
