POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
This was one of the most bizarre coaching of the night. We've had the best ruckman in the game just gather his 6th AA as a ruckman and bloody Goody finds it fit to start him at FF. Goody and the coaches were incredibly sloe to react to this. You can tell Jackson was getting overwhelmed by Hickey but yet we stuck with this same plan going into the last quarter. Knew then and there we were gone when Gawn started FF in the last quarter.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
If we are bringing in Grundy as reported for the sole purpose of Gawn being able to spend more time up forward then we're making a big mistake imo. The Gawn experiment up forward simply has to cease and accept that he's not a natural forward and it completely throws our structure out of wack. Let me remind that since the Sydney game back in round 12 Gawn has kicked only 2 goals. That's right, 2 goals playing more predominantly up forward and having no influence whatsoever. Watching Hickey completely dismantle both Gawn and Jackson shows you don't need to break the bank for a star ruckman.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Agree. The WC and North game was an opportunity to just rest some blokes and reward some players along the way. As you say, Goody and coaching staff been far too loyal to the likes of Sparrow, ANB and Spargo to some degree who all have been average and underwhelming this year but yet continue to get rewarded for mediocrity. Clubs have worked out our system easily because we have barely changed our team structure to keep teams second guessing.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Disagree with the first 3 paragraphs. Agree with the last point.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
We've had 1 debutant this year. Let that sink in.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I still hope Jacko stays, but his mind seems elsewhere tonight.

How Petracca is Chasing Greatness
It would be greatness if he could nail a set shot.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
Unfortunately that was by far his poorest game for the year. Everytime he was in the ruck he was physically beaten by Hickey fairly easily which resulted in Sydney just winning the easy clearence.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
78k. Sydney seemed far more loud unfortunately. The boos for Harmes was pretty evident while there was crickets for Franklin from our end..

Sometimes what might work one year won't exactly replicate the following year. I honestly think that we've become hunted all year physically and teams are putting so much work into us that I just think it's caught up to us from a mental and physical perspective. A decent break over the summer and recharging the batteries will do us good.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Forget the changes. We'll go in unchanged. Goody has shown this year that time and time again he'll barely make any changes to the team regardless of the result. We've had opportunities to bring in guys like JVR, Chandler etc to just try to mix it up bit and change up our forward half structure, but nope.. too late for that now unfortunately. Even if it meant resting a few blokes here and there just to have them cherry ripe for September. We just looked so banged up out there tonight.. We've had a Casey team go 17-1 this year and yet we've refused to reward some of those key contributors which has been disappointing. A

The MCG thing is certainly an issue huh.. starting to look like a bogey ground for us lol.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
To be honest I actually don't think it was much that they nullified Max and Dogga, it was more that Max and Dogga simply didn't turn up and failed to assert their physical presence.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
Just on Sydney, you've got to admire them. They're incredibly well drilled and disciplined. They're not a team full of superstars but they have everyone buying into team defence and structure and simply get the job done. They have some impressive youngsters coming through. They're set for the next few years. I really hope they win the flag over Geelong/Collingwood.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
Gee wiz.. where do you start? I was waiting for our senior leaders and stars to stand up but yet they just went missing. Petracca, Viney, Lever, Brayshaw Salem, Gawn were all terrible tonight. Brayshaw looked completely cooked with that knee bandage and Salem was scared of physical contact. Gawn and Jackson got absolutely smashed by a ruckman that's been a battler throughout his career. Gawn paid no respect tonight which was disappointing and Jackson was a witches hat out there. Nibbler was god awful, in fact he was genuinely terrible. I'm sorry but he can't be getting games next year. He's been ordinary for the last 7 weeks and yet we continue to persist with his momentum killers and ability to somehow [censored] up every transition chains. You look at the way Sydney's half forwards operate and they're so much cleaner with the ball. A gun small forward should be high on our list come the trade period. Thank you for your time and effort Melky. Enjoy retirement. Rivers, Sparrow and Brown were fumbles galore. Where the hell was Pickett?? Our forward line is still an obvious mess and we've had all year to rectify this by getting the right set up. The Gawn up forward experiment simple has to cease, he's not a a forwards [censored] and never will be. A few could hold their hands up high. May and Oliver especially were our two best and Oliver especially tried to will the team on his back but unfortunately he had no support whatsoever. I thought Harmes was good on his wing. Did a lot of defensive chop out down back and that's all you can ask. Unfortunately we looked completely cooked and banged up. Guys with knee bandages tonight looked so poppy and unfit. Onto next week we go.

Sydney are the best last quarter team in the AFL 😳

GAMEDAY: QF vs Sydney
That's what's done it for me. Gawn and Jackson have been rubbish. Hickey has owned both of them tonight.

GAMEDAY: QF vs Sydney
Sydney have got this. They look far more polished and everytime they go inside 50 they either score or are able to hit the easy option. Disappointing.
