POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
I think one of the most disappointing aspects of last night games is the way we changed our game plan and structure. I raised my concerns on Wednesday night around selection. We went in a tall short in defence and unfortunately that took away Levers and Rivers strengths. At one stage last night River was playing on McStay and by trying to do a lock down role so that it would release Lever. This took away Rivers run and carry style and he was unfortunately very quiet. We didn't get that usual drive off half back that we usually do which was disappointing. Lever was another who had a poor night last night. His strengths of being able to peel off and intercept was not on show because he was playing a lock down role. Why Goody reverted back to this method which has shown to not work was just bizarre team selection and even he had admitted in thr past. We needed a Tomlinson or Turner to play that complete lock down role so that our defensive structure was sound. One other aspect that I got out of it was that we really are bare in midfield depth. When Brayshaw went out we had no one that was able to stand up in his shoes. This is where I'm incredibly disappointed in Tom Sparrow. This was his golden opportunity to stand up in the moment and yet by half time he had only 2 disposals next to his name. He was generally poor who coughed it up way too easily in the moment. I seriously have no idea what he adds to the team but with Brayshaw unfortunately missing and the thought of Jordon being a replacement it's looking pretty glum. Whilst a key forward would be ideal in the trade period I think another experienced midfielder is a must.

He was moving forward towards Brayshaw and jumped with momentum to smother the ball. If he tried to brace himself he still would have hit Brayshaw regardless because of his forward momentum. As he was coming down you can tell he's trying obviously avoid face to face contact and that's why I think he turned to try and brace himself.

He chose to jump and attempt a smother and then last second tried to brace himself for contact as he was coming down. Play this in normal speed and it all happened so quick that I don't think he had time to even try and turn away. These footballing motions happen so quick in games that sometimes it's just hard to react quick enough.

Are you dead set serious? Cannot seriously believe you're justifying that Maynard and Cox deserve to do their ACL's purely because of a contact hit in football that yes, was unwarranted and he'll be dealt accordingly. And please don't ever say I don't know anyone that's been through repeated head knocks. A 24 year reserves player from our football club was told mid year that he has to stop playing football for the rest of his life because he received his 12th head knock. You wishing ACL injuries on people is lowest of lows regardless who they are.

Don't give a [censored]. I don't wish that [censored] on my own worst enemy. Clearly never done a long term injury and the mental struggles you go through when you're trying to rehabilitate all over again. It's a contact sport where there'll be big hits here and there. I don't like what Maynard did also but wishing him and Cox ACL injuries is disgusting. Didn't think you'd stoop this low.
