I'm thinking they meant 'arranged' or probably 'performed' - 1972 was about the time technology would have allowed 'quality' broadcast at games and the VFL would have been jumping on it and getting 'official' versions for the purpose (such simple days...). I just included the entry verbatim to clarify 'old' was in the written lyrics, not just evident in the recording.

I'm perennially unknowledgeable in the off-season staples of trade and draft (except for Oliver, who I positively demanded after viewing his TAC highlights the day before that draft 😁) but I have been as guilty as any in devouring them as sources of salvation year after year.
