  1. He also heard one of his co(-honours)-cast had fallen in da water! (Shane Gould or Dawn Fraser, perhaps? Or Alan Bond!)
  2. Fair enough, and 👏. But, damn; Eccles took me down a 'sort of correct' path - that of honoured people. I'm now an authority on Nobel Prize winners...
  3. This debate seems to be heavily influenced by perceptions of how playing in ASP - most notably the travel, particularly if the following match involves a difficult game, standard-, timing-, and/or location-wise - affects the team's performance. In this - as in so many other issues! - we 'Landers are prone to 'project' (guilty as charged, Your Honour!) The players' actual views would be interesting. It wouldn't surprise me, I must say, if they enjoyed the change of scenery, figuratively and literally (particularly in and around ASP) and the stimulation that travel, with friends, provides. On the other hand, I can recognise the possibility such distraction or stimulation might negatively affect performance. particularly that oft-referred-to '1%'. This should be manageable, however. I can also recognise supporters' responses to a 'lost' home game, if replacement arrangements aren't equal or better for them.
  4. Sling him a Jaguar. At least a Hertz one.
  5. From the AFL website: 'The McClelland Trophy...[is]...to include the AFLW competition, with...[the]...prize money to be shared between the club and all its players.' [my italics x 2] So, girls and boys (and 'club').
  6. The women's games are worth 8 points, so, presuming Dees and Lions win this week, the current 4-point difference means % will be irrelevant in that million dollar game. There's still a very outside chance Pies could 'Bradbury'. Our good % would help there. No.
  7. ...by which I presume you mean the full name features in both teams? I can see no other way to interpret your 'clue'... p.s. Contemplating changing my name, à la @Cranky Franky, to Crabby Trabby for these darned things!
  8. I go back beyond Sunnyboys to the original(? - very early '60s) orange fruit drink tetrapak, the 'Jubbly'. I also go back as far as sixpence a bottle, exchanged at the Torquay (summer source of lots of bottles) milk bar for a Peter's strawberry cone, with real(?) strawberry bits.
  9. Your secret's safe with me, Red: I think you left a tiny full stop in that 'best work', sullying its perfection. Not too late for a final edit?
  10. For that contemporary, Petty-like, feel, too, he was at full back in his first GF, I think.
  11. I like how the colours accord Carlton the irrelevance it is due...
  12. Gone are the days when playing 'Expert Tipsters' didn't put a margin after their tips. Libby Birch, in The Age, has gone with the highest margin among her colleagues, with 3 goals! She'll want to have a big game! She is with the trend, though. Only Emma Kearney tips her Roos. With a much more circumspect 5 point margin, however!
  13. ...where I was, '72 to '76. But we were so nice! I'm sorry to hear we developed arch enemies! Who were you? (in quite a solid career, it looks like!)
  14. With trepidation... Which 'Bloods'? When?
  15. Many thanks, Tilly! I went looking for it but couldn't find it. You'd think it would've been in at least one of the longer online 'top' lists! I hope I got close from memory😁
  16. Door. Horse. Bolt. If you believe certain other threads.
  17. A Jack, a Tom and a Shane. We're so deelightfully old school! (To ice this, I was hoping there was a Tom to join Jack Mueller (39,40,41,48) and Shane McGrath (41,48) in their premiership teams. Alas, there wasn't. 1900's Tommy Ryan and our TMac, who's been around seemingly forever anyway, must suffice.)
  18. So, without being over-conscious of her, a keepings-off tactic may need to be employed. I wonder how advanced the women's comp, and of course our trend-setting team, are in these 'finer', skill/tactics, aspects of the game. They're certainly advancing very quickly in most of the others!
