Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
He’s never shown enough at vfl level to warrant selection, at this point it’s just giving him a few games and hoping for the best. If we wait for him to earn it the day might never come and then everyone will criticise Goodwin and the club for never trying him. It’s a lose lose situation

PREGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
Think it’s a bit of the case that smaller players need to be excellent at other areas of the game like ball use just to make it at afl level, while bigger players are drafted with the idea that you can teach skills but you can’t teach someone to grow 10-20cm. I know for a fact there is many players that can’t get on afl lists simply because of there height, hopefully times are changing

Just realised we have 100% win rate this year without JVR and 100% loss rate with him

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Are we though, May, lever, Viney, trac, Oliver, Salem, Landon, tmac, melksham, fritsch are all past there best and some significantly so and Gawn is just defying gravity. Even with our picks over the last few years we aren’t even close to replacing most of them, let alone who we already lost in Pig, Brayshaw, Jackson, Ben Brown and ANB Unfortunately even if Langford, Linsey, Windsor and JVR all turn out to be guns and rivers, Pickett, bowey all continue to step up I don’t see enough talent coming in see us back in finals, outside eagles id say every side has just as much young talent. The only way at the we get back into contention is bringing player via free agency or trade (like we did with May and lever) unfortunately we have struggled for a while now to attract people to the club so not sure how that changes.

PODCAST: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Is it time to get real with where the team is at? Everyone would agree tigers are in a full rebuild and yet they have managed to defeat suns, blues and wc. While most would say Dees don’t need to go down that path and we can rebuild on the fly and yet we have beaten tigers, wc and freo with a much more senior list, both teams have had bad losses in between but on balance the tigers have probably been the more impressive so far. Should Dee’s be doing a massive cull this year like tigers did at the end of last season, at this stage it feels like we may as well fully commit as the results aren’t any better unless we think the team is going to immediately spike next year. By my reckoning we shouldn’t holding onto any more than half of the senior players in Viney, Gawn, trac, may, lever, Oliver, Pickett(only if he wants out), Langdon, tmac, fritsch and melksham. Obviously this will mean some favourites will be going and some with some years left but if tigers are anything to go by it’s for the best.

CLARRY IS NOT A TAGGER
Clarry isn’t fit enough, if you watched him at the game yesterday you would see he is constantly out of position because he is walking or slowly jogging allowing hawks to find an extra player when chaining the ball down the ground

PODCAST: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
We dominated the contest for 3/4 today but once again couldn’t get reward on the scoreboard, hawks get on top for a single qtr and did what we couldn’t. Goodwin says Oliver had a tagging role today, but all I saw was a player unable to go contest to contest requiring other players to cover for him. Jeffo thrown into the seniors despite not showing he’s at the level even in the vfl why should we expect different at AFL Fritsch not pulling his weight again and now not even finishing off in front of goal. It’s clear standards have been dropping for some time now and our coaches seem unable or unwilling to do anything about it. Until we have someone who can make the tough call nothing is going to change.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
We train based on feel good now, we can’t have any hurt feelings

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Why would Pickett stay now, unlikely Goodwin survives this year, we will be out of contention for a few year at minimum and if Gawn and may retire before then god help us. We are even less likely to keep him now than before this season started, the only plus is freo might at least have a good first round pick this year.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Only a wasted if we were a chance to start with, club needs to make some hard calls on some players so we can move fwd
-
POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Oliver not fit enough we can’t keep playing him, until he gets back to a reasonable fitness level back to vfl. Jeffo not ready for AFL Fritsch needs to go back to vfl for real this time. Langford looks like he will be an absolute gun
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Oliver clearly not up to standard, we can’t keep covering for him means everyone else working twice as hard and we are cooked by the 4th qtr
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
How so, we clearly have 3 tall fwds in fritsch, jvr and Jeffo that can’t hit the side of a barn door, and Jeffo and fritsch have offered 0 in any other regard, what was the thinking in going with the extra tall
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Unfortunately this looks like a game we lost at the selection table

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Oliver is better when he has the ball but Viney is still much superior what he does without it, Oliver needs to get first hands to the ball at stoppage because he’s not catching anyone if it gets out
-
PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
I’d guess 3 goals 3 tackles

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
The problem is fritsch plays like a tall as well so you are effectively playing 3 talls, I’m not sure it works unless they are all of a high quality. Given there output I think we look much better just playing 2 and taking an extra mid size player like melksham. I suspect maybe they will use fritsch in that role this week, which I can’t see working out.
-
PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Unless Viney is injured maybe having Oliver and Viney makes the mid to slow

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
44k last year to the 4pm sat game round 3, be a good showing if we beat that I think
-
PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Looking fwd to this weeks game, after 3 wins in a row we get a test against a contender, if we can at least be competitive then I think it shows we should continue to persist with the current group a while longer, if we go back to the round 2-5 output then it’s time to move on from some of the older players and bring in the kids and find out what we have because this group is done

NON-MFC: Round 08
Don’t have to imagine the 90s to 00s was that for us
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 08 vs West Coast
The 1-8 wasn’t against wc though, outside a repeat of last year this game shouldn’t present any issues, plus if u want to talk pressure and stats just look at wc this year they would love to be us

NON-MFC: Round 08
I dread to think how boring those games will be
-
PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Think rivers goes and mid to cover Oliver, Turner back in his place. Melk comes in for Fullerton and Petty backs up ruck.
-
PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Odd we are going so small, who is going to backup max, seems like the only option will be petty, better hope none of our talls get injured on the day
