The Kalani White Thread (F/S)
This is a post from a St Kilda supporter on another forum re Kalani: ''Had a bit do to with them down on the coast and I'm 99% certain if there was a choice to be made, he would be off to the D's. However, I would be surprised if either club made a play for him. He is not particularly good, and the continued selection in various elite programs does nothing to dispel the claims of nepotism for kids involved in northern academies who have fathers from southern clubs. Talls can develop at different rates though, and there is definitely something there - but he is miles off it currently. Barely got a kick in local u19s this year.'' It's just one person's opinion, but it's good to hear a view from someone with no skin in the game. Let's hope he keeps improving.

Defensive forward - ANB’s replacement?
There have always been players that don't use their pace on a footy field. Woewodin has never struck me as being one. Pace certainly wouldn't be his issue in any Neale-Bullen type role. And on checking I see Brayshaw was linked to that time but I find it hard to believe, especially as he was trying to improve his speed according to the same article you've referenced. He never tested at DC and 2.81 was first that year. Brayshaw was never a speedster. Neale-Bullen is a fumbler and a pretty ordinary player. Yes, he improved after we told him to look for a new home at the end of 2020, but he's now being elevated far beyond his station, especially on this platform. Just a player that will be easily covered. Disciplined and committed and a valuable leader, but let's not get carried away by his Craig Lambert type role. My last paragraph is obviously not directed at you.

Defensive forward - ANB’s replacement?
I never said Woewodin was a good option.

Defensive forward - ANB’s replacement?
Woewodin was second at his draft combine with a blistering 2.84 seconds. Ability may be his issue, but not pace. Neale-Bullen's spot will be easily filled.

Welcome to Demonland: Aidan Johnson
A peculiar selection. Seems a waste of a pick. I'll be mildly shocked if he plays ten AFL games.

I have to join the chorus. Langford and Berry would be a dream outcome for me.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
I'm sure they'd take Draper at pick 9, but he won't be there. Overlooking Draper at pick 5 due to his kicking simply means they rate one of the other mids higher at pick 5. It doesn't mean they don't rate Draper, but have him lower due to his kicking. Pick 9 is a different issue. If there's a slight knock on Allan's kicking, but they love his other attributes and potential ceiling then they'll weigh up those considerations. And 9 is far from a ''reach'' on Allan. He may not make it to pick 9.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
It's ''Allan''. One's a mid forward and the other is a defensive mid. Allan would start at half back before graduating through the midfield. I love the combination.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
They also confirm Melbourne's interest in Allan and that we've seen him in WA more than once.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
An Adelaide poster on another site who says he has a contact at Melbourne says we won't take Draper due to concerns over his kicking. He also says that Melbourne believe Adelaide want North's pick 2 for O'Sullivan and not the reported interest in Jagga Smith.

Yep. North will take Tauru at 4 if the HS are correct. We'll have a choice of Langford or O'Sullivan it seems. 1 Lalor 2 Smith 3 Draper 4 Tauru 5 Langford or O'Sullivan Personally, I'd take O'Sullivan if it plays out this way, but I know Dazzle and others aren't as keen. But who knows. Maybe North surprises and overlooks Tauru at 4.

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
Happy to be proven wrong, but I'm not on the Travaglia bandwagon. Lacks polish with his disposal and just doesn't seem to have the class one would expect for a top 10 pick in a very good draft. He may play 200+ games, but that's not my litmus test for pick 9. Plenty in tne top 50 will play 200 games. But I see why some like his manic style. I think he'll be a good player. No to Armstrong. He's just not competitive enough in the air. I'm not saying he won't make it, as he has class, but I don't see the aggression or combativeness required to be a sure thing. I doubt he'll become the best key forward from this draft. Pick 5 - Unlike our resident expert, Deespencer, and some others, I do like Jagga Smith. For me his footy IQ with his positioning, as well as his reflexes, is insane. Racking up the disposals, as he does, is incredibly underrated. My eyes tell me he has really good initial pace, although I know our expert doesn't see it. And I love his fast feet and sidesteps. Remember, he's only 18. What will good coaching and a few years of preseason weights turn him into. Smith has innately what can't be taught and what most don't have. I also like Langford for obvious reasons, as well as O'Sullivan. I know there are slows on O'Sullivan, but for me he's the classiest of the lot. The only concern is why he doesn't get more involved. We virtually can't go wrong with the 5th live pick in the draft. Pick 9 - Our expert doesn't like Bo Allan and his decision making, but I love his attributes. His ceiling is sky high. I also like Berry, but know it's probably a bit early for him. I'll back whomever they choose at this pick. They'll still be spolit for choice.

James Peatling
Peatling is not worth a pick under 30. Unless you're desperate to be seen to be doing something. Ordinary players become stars at this time of year.

Just give me a midfielder who's got quick feet, is highly skilled, and tough, and I'll shut up.

It just goes to show how you can't rely on highlights. I loved some of Reid's 4 minute videos but was able to see much more in today's Coates final. I liked his quick hands on a few occasions, but overall he lacked intensity and noticeably lacked pace. It's folly to be definitive on one viewing, but he didn't look a top 5-6 pick from what I saw.

2024 Phantom Drafts
I've never thought of Parish as being overly quick, so looked up his 20 metre sprint time, which was 3.07 sec. OK, but far from a speedster. I've found Reid a little underwhelming in this game (nearing half-time), but will see how the rest of the match pans out.

I don't see the Sidebottom comparison. I'm struggling to see what you're seeing, but to each their own. Reid's downside to me would be Darcy Parish, not a very limited Charlie Spargo.
