AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Absolutely. I have zero issue with baldness. What I find amusing is a bloke of his age doing the ghastly shaved sides thing, which has nothing to do with any receding hairline. If you felt compelled to reply, perhaps have a clue as to what you're replying to. The word "haircut" is the actual give away. Such a precious generation.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I don't think anyone who earns a living in front of the camera necessarily has a great eye for talent. It's maybe why they're in the media. But maybe not. Can you link me to any deep player analysis that Twomey's done on draft hopefuls ? You know, strengths, weaknesses, etc. ? In depth stuff ? I wouldn't have thought that's his forte, but maybe I've missed it. He'll be pleased to know though that he has so many devotees. And look, maybe he's got a great eye for talent and I'm just being cynical that his form guide changes to the probable draft order the closer the draft gets.

No-one's intel is as good as the bloke with the bad haircut. No-one. I thought I made that clear. What am I missing here ? Hello ? Anyone there ?

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Get's what right ? The first round ? Of course, he has great intel. His Phantom Form Guides change as his intel changes. The Coates League starts end of March. It finishes at the end of August. The reason ''form guides'' change between then and November isn't because of ''form''. But look, if you think he has a great eye for talent, fantastic.

He turns 20 late December.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
It's his business is to know the draft pool. That's how he earns a living. You're welcome to put your faith in his actual footy acumen. Over the last decade, his Phantom Form Guides shift all over the place between July and November, as his intel tells him closer to the draft who's going where. Please yourself if you think he's a draft guru.

Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
I think it's too early to put a ceiling on a 19 year old.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
It's not as simple as that. Many clubs may have had him as a top 10 pick, but either didn't have a top 10 pick OR had a early top 10 pick and preferred someone else OR rated him top 10 but only had one pick in the top 10. Throughout the year he was often picked in the late part of the top 10. Why do you think Twomey had him there ? He also injured his ankle in the Coates League GF. And in that game he was caught and looked a bit slow, which I don't think helped him. But all Twomey did and does is read the tea leaves from the intel he gets.

Reid was always considered a top 10 pick. He drifted late in preceedings. You don't follow drafts, do you ?

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Twomey doesn't have a strong eye for junior talent. He has a strong ear for intel regarding junior talent. He also doesn't have a strong eye for a decent haircut.

Don't say that. You'll offend people.

Just not well.

Emma Quayle. She started working for an AFL club. I don't get concerned about ''paying overs'', but I'm aware they get picks wrong.

Chicken or the egg. The ball drop is an issue.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
So you missed where I said: ''There's definitely a bit to like. He is a nice mark, has courage in the air (you either do or don't), and seems smart around the contest.'' I also look for ''traits and attributes''. But I look for the good ones and the not so good ones. Spot the difference between you and me ?

His first kick at goal at 20 seconds. His kick at 1 min 21. Just 2 quick examples. What do you watch when you look at a player video ?

You need to watch more.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
There's definitely a bit to like. He is a nice mark, has courage in the air (you either do or don't), and seems smart around the contest. His kicking looks bog ordinary to me with a high ball drop and a propensity to get too close to the man on the mark. But, the usual caveat, I haven't seen enough.

And his early selections are based on heavy intel, so not really even a ''phantom''.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
We must have watched a different player. Old one arm in the air Wattsy was very concerned about his onfield well being.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Why on earth would you include Clint Bartram, who got the utmost out of his limited talent ? He was also pick 60. There are signs in juniors that could have precluded the Toumpas selection, i.e. his contested football percentage per possession. Perhaps Morton was the same in juniors, but I'm not sure. Then there's the drive and mental makeup, which may preclude some players having successful careers. It's hard to know unless you're in the club. Then there's simply dud recruiter selections. Naturally, development programs at clubs are crucial and I suspect ours was sub par. And if I was a failed early selection who played at the MFC during this era I'd probably hang my hat on poor development.

True, but does Judd strike you as the overly emotional type ? Apparently, he only met with Melbourne due to Connors respect for CAC.

AFL Draft 2025: Pick 30 (formerly 37)
Of course, he'll have knocks on him. All of the mooted top 10 picks do too. So did Simon Black (pick 31), Dan Hannebery (30) and Rory Sloane (44), as well as countless others. Unlike (some) others, I'd take the best player for our third pick and not decide to go for ''local''.

AFL Draft 2025: Pick 30 (formerly 37)
Admittedly, I've only seen one video of him, but if we kept this pick I liked the look of midfielder Fred Rodriguez. I wonder what @Pennant St Dee thinks of him.
