It's unlike you to overthink things...

You'd have to say Mahoney's been a great servant of the club. Getting 13 years from any employee is fantastic. But it's also a long time. I don't know how anyone could be annoyed with the MFC or Mahoney. It's been a good union.

You might not like the line of questioning, but the discussion is hardly ''strange''.
-
It's hardly strange people are asking questions or commenting on an integral role within the MFC. It would be ''strange'' not to.

Doesn't wash with me. Don't sign a contract under those circumstances, or move your kids.

What are these ''compassionate'' reasons ?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Yes, I remember. I had this view for about a week. It was no longer than a week, but well done. A fat bolter not considered good enough can make you skeptical. You've had a great win here. I'm going to have a nice glass of red in your honour. But, unfortunately, you'll still be you in the morning. -
Yep. I was very keen for the MFC to become a McDonald-free zone. In 2021 he'll be bending us over even when he's kicking the dew. I'm not one of those supporters who tries to make good of a bad situation. It's shouse that we kept him. But I can still laugh at Collingwood.

Of his 65 goals in 2019 two thirds, i.e. over 40, were not from hit-up leads. They came from either contested marks, frees, tackles, separation, or snaps from general play. -
For some reason 28 is considered ''old'' by many footy fans, especially Melb. supporters. Shaun Burgoyne was 27 when he joined Hawthorn with a knee that was supposedly ''bone on bone''. He's spent 11 years there. But I sort of get it. Melbourne players are usually cooked by the time they're 30. What is it about the MFC ? Unless Collingwood pay at least $250K they can keep Treloar.
-
Just another 10 disposal player who won't make a shred of distance to our team. You don't see him for three quarters then he'll have a purple patch for 10 minutes. He's not what I'd call a quality role player who'll improve you.

These days, no-one expects a wingman to be the hard man of footy, but having watched Baker closely my two main issues are that he's incredibly soft and has virtually zero hurt factor with his possessions (yes yes he kicked two goals). Jimmy Toumpas was probably the softest outside player I've seen at Melbourne. Baker is in that category. Toumpas notoriously had shocking contested possession numbers in junior footy, which should have been a red flag, but even Jimmy's percentage of CP at AFL level just shades Baker's. Tom Scully is as outside as you get and his percentage is almost double. This isn't reliant on total possessions, but percentage of, which is an important distinction. Put simply, Baker isn't list worthy. If we don't go all out to solve our (opposite) wing issues I'll be dismayed. And I'll know there's zero chance of a flag in 2021. Talk about a wing and a prayer... EDIT: I hasten to add that my views on Baker first came from visuals, the good old-fashioned eye test. The stats came about because I was curious to see if what I was seeing was borne out. -
Give them a cuddle for me.

Wow. The Holy Redeemer. Not.

Rohan possibly has the worst finals record in history. If you can't perform in finals you're as useful as a cold pie.
-
Unfortunately, there won't be a club stupid enough to take on his contract. The best we can hope for is someone is prepared to pay $500K and we stump up the rest. I'm desperate for him to go as it just might allow us to snag a decent player at the death knell. Understandably, there's little interest.
-
Imagine thinking you're a top 4 side, which you need to be to win a flag, with Oskar Baker on a wing. It beggars belief.

You're probably right, but they'll still save $3mil over 5 years. Brayshaw is a tough one. He's the one player that could really burn you if the penny ever drops. If we can't get his role right then you're better off doing a deal. Can we get him to his full potential ? Can he commit to being the best he can be ? I do worry about Treloar's hamstrings, so would rather not trade a good player for him. The Pies are desperate to salary dump, so it's a buyers market.
-
I agree the hamstrings are an issue. But if you can just answer one question. If his kicking is as bad as suggested how would he have been rewarded with 3 top 3 B&F finishes in the 4 years prior to this season ? Also, have you ever laid eyes on him and watched him play ?
-
Yep, Treloar butchers every kick forward and his pace and spread from a stoppage is not something the MFC needs.
