  1. I'm not sure why so many here feel they have to defend Kings appointment when it's not really being attacked. My post was simply highlighting the innaccuay of the comment that the job starts next year, which as you say, is certainly not the case. This topic was started as a poll. For what it's worth, I voted c. Yes, but you're distracted. Only 7% have said no! Personally, I am happy with the appointment. The timing can't be helped and the club and King have handled it well. Of course he can do both jobs for 2 weeks, but he has to be at least a little distracted in this time. Yesterday 'we' was Melbourne, today it's Geelong. Ideally, for his mindset, it would be better if his current team was out of finals, but it may be a boost for us if he is instrumental in being part of a premiership coaching team. Think of the learnings! 😉 Remember, the poll qustion is: Can current assistant coaches, who are still in finals still operate with integrity and intent with their current team whilst applying and potentially becoming announced as senior coach
  2. Wait until David King hears about it! 🫠
  3. Sacrilegious question! (Insert tounge in cheek emoji here 😉) The great Red Fox, of course.
  4. I didn't think a tongue in cheek meme was necessary. Seems I was wrong. Still, it's an interesting stat, you'd have to admit.
  5. Not unhappy with Kings appointment. It just leaves me twitchy re his Geelong playing connection. No former Geelong player has coached a flag since '63. Former Melbourne players have won 9 in that time. Since '52 the numbers are 1 vs 14.
  6. The last thing I will do is read it.
  7. We have to pay 50% of Gus's salary in '26 from the salary cap. It jumps to 100% in '27 and '28 in what was reported to be a heavily back-ended contract. It will definitely hinder our ability to attract big names from other clubs.
  8. It seems like you are. You can't equate AFL coaching to any other job. As soon as he applied, his mind was with the new role, it has to be. If not, he doesn't get the gig (hello Nathan). With respect to you, to say the job starts next year, is laughable.
  9. Nothing highlights the unbelievable transformation the club has had in 3 and a half seasons than the underlined above. I challenge anyone to think this could have be remotely acceptable mid '22. Yet today I, like many, have accept that it has to be considered. Nothing new it this sentinment, but F*ing hell, it still hurts so much.
  10. It's like visiting the grassy knoll here at times, sadly. It's the old 80/20 rule I suppose, but the 20% have worn me down. An infrequent visitor nowadays.
  11. How good is this team to be sitting on top of the ladder with a % of 500+ with all these injuries. An awesome group and such a delight to watch.
  12. Hawthorn became my 3rd favourite side for a couple of years early 70's. I was a terrible cricketer, but somehow found myself playing i a social against a Hawthorn F.C team that was made up from the '71 Premiership team. Parkin was wicket keeper from memory and we went back to their social club post match. It was a great night and they were very sociable. Have to admit though, the club has slipped a long way down on my (short) list of liked clubs since then.
  13. Amen, Ahmed. It's universal. Ask Brayden Maynard! 👿
  14. The phrase that kept running through my head. Will always see him on my living room wall with his '21 team and be thankful.
  15. Out for 4-6 weeks with an ankle. Still wasn't the worst today
  16. The fact that he is, but shouldn't be, is exactly the reason we shouldn't lock this thread. Rolling over and accepting this AFL sh*t is what will keep us irrelevant in their eyes. I'm sick of it, and we should never accept being a door mat like we were with Mac Andrew. Grow some b*lls MFC!
  17. Don't forget the Tony Popovic connection! So many similarities there poita. It's hard to find other Palace supporters in Aus. So glad to find someone who understands why. I surprised myself how emotional I got watching them win it, knowing their history. Standing alone, in the dark, tears on my cheeks, in front of the TV at 3am, will live with me forever. Nothing will top watching the Dees in '21, but it runs a clear second. A true grass roots club, so involved in the local community with their youth programs rather than the $$$$ driven top clubs, fills me with pride with what they have achieved. So glad they got revenge from their defeat against Man U at the G in 2022 that I attended. 😆 Defeating Liverpool on the w/e would have topped a perfect year, but it still exceeded all expectations. ❤️💙🦅
  18. 165 more possesions! Record?
  19. 165 more possesions! Record?
  20. Kentfield......oh, dear
  21. I wonder if the Casey player will need to run laps post game to keep their fitness up.
  22. It's bloody Van Roy En, not van Ruin! 😆
  23. Baldi has nominated for the mid season AFL draft. He may be a chance to be picked up by another club.
  24. Yep, Dick Telford, David Dickson, Bob Heard, Ray Shaw etc etc. A true golden era.
