  1. I'm not too sure how rookie contracts work, can they offer him for example a 3 year deal on the main list?
  2. I'm a fan of Watts but the most frustrating thing for me that he does is not attacking the man with the ball hard enough, always looks to corral a player instead of going for the tackle. Not sure what game it was but a player fumbled the ball in front of him and he still chose not to charge in and wrap him up. Otherwise he does a lot of clever stuff around the ground that probably doesn't get noticed a lot of the time and he is usually a good mark on the lead and a fantastic kick, these basic skill errors he has been making the last few weeks are obviously a big lack of confidence at the moment. I am usually very confident when he has the hands on the ball. I just hope he gets his confidence back soon!
  3. Oooops! Had the right last name at least though right, haha
  4. Egan looked very promising before suffering that career ending foot injury didn't he?
  5. They kept finding soft frees after missing pretty obvious free kicks I thought. With the Garland decision, a few seconds earlier I think it was Newton who got caught and should have been holding the ball. Half way through the 3rd quarter the umpires were having a shocking run of bad calls against us.
  6. Ahhh Jack Watts.... I find it very hard to judge his performances, when I watch him at the ground go at a contest it looks very half hearted and then I watch the replay and it seems like he made a great decision so he could get the ball. I was at the ground tonight and I would need to look at the game again but it seems he is devoid of confidence right now. His skills are usually what define him as a player but they have seem very lackluster lately. I think last week where he coralled (hope I'm using that word right) the Adelaide player instead of running at him when he had fumbled it instead of going hard at him just sums up Watts for me. I don't think hes soft in the way that hes scared to get hurt but he just seems to think differently about the game.
  7. Gosh I was talking to another Melbourne supporter and I said he was one of the best small defenders in the league and he called me crazy. He seems like he is a great bloke off the field and I hope he is alright for next week.
  8. To trade for Hogan the minimum I would want is 2 top 5 picks or a very good player, If we are talking about Freo it's Fyfe. I have an unusual feeling as a Melbourne supporter but I think Jesse is going to stay with us! Would anyone here trade Hogan for Fyfe?
  9. Nathan Jones is the king of the quick clever kick under pressure. I usually agree with what you say Clint and you called it after the first game that vandenBerg played, he is an absolute ripper. I liked what I saw from Vince again, he seems to have brought an extra gear of physicality this year so far and i'm loving it! Hogan = gun. Tigers got absolutely destroyed once the rain started, i'm very happy with how hard our players went in for the ball. They didn't look like kicking a goal in the second half and I think we should have won by a bit more. Tigers are softtttt Edit: I'm sad to see Kent is injured, he did fantastic in the time he was on with the pressure. I'm also really sad about the knee injury of the Richmond player (Drummond I think?). It's a shame to see any player injured especially in their first game. I hope he is ok!
  10. This guy is unbelievable.... going to be a top 3 key forward of the AFL in the coming years for sure. Top 1 wouldn't suprise me! He seems to win every one on one contest with ease. Have we finally found a superstar?
  11. I agree with your thoughts on Dawes and Watts being a good chance at being dropped but to suggest that Roos dropped Toumpas just because of that fumble in the goal square seems silly to me. I doubt either will be dropped for next week though. Is Dawes the worst mark in the AFL? I watch a lot of games and it really seems like it.
  12. Watts looked very soft today. I thought we had a real good go otherwise, should have been a closer result.
  13. Their midfield farrrr too strong. Boy did Jones have a shocker!
  14. Another 5 possession game from Jones.. Oh dear!
  15. Fanfooty says he was on Brayshaw but I thought I saw him following JKH around
  16. I also thought Pedersen was pretty good last year but I thought he did sometimes go missing during games. It's definitely between him and Frost at selection and I am very keen on Frosts speed and aggression at the ball, although I think Pedersen is a better mark and kick. Anyone have the weird problem of Pedersen being put in [brackets] automatically?
  17. Not looking forward to playing the hawks... All I can think about for the last ~6 years is them continuously pumping the ball into our defensive 50 for 4 quarters
  18. Not sure if it has been discussed. What did people think of Jetta in the last quarter when he got hit and stayed down? The commentators were clearly not impressed at all and the hit he got didn't look that bad but I've always thought of Jetta as a very tough player, I wouldn't think he would stay down unless he was hurting.
  19. I heard a few people moaning when he got the ball, apparently he can't kick!
  20. Very early stages this year but I can't see him getting back in the team without injuries. Good disposal is critical out of the backline and that makes him and Terlich depth in my mind. I really hope he proves me wrong though.
  21. King after Kent kicked it out on the full "That's a good result for Melbourne".
  22. The Tyson goal and Lumumba goal were the moments for me. I might have a short memory but that Tyson goal was like I was watching a good team for once. I used to be very biased by my ill feelings against Lumumba because of some of the things he had said in interviews but I think he is going to be a very good player for us and that was a fantastic goal when we needed it. The Hudson commentary was great as well
  23. 6. McDonald - Marked everything and made some good attacks from defence, can only remember one really bad turnover trying to center it inside the defensive 50 5. Garlett - Don't remember the last time someone has kicked a running goal from the center bounce. We have severely lacked a quick small forward for a long time and looked extremely dangerous whenever he got it 4. Jones - Standard Jones game really 3. Watts - Presented hard all day. The palm back to Garlett and the goal from the boundary the highlights 2. Viney - A bit sloppy early but rode Gablett hard all day and got plenty of ball for himself including setting up several goals 1. Garland - I was disappointed with his 2014 season but he looked like the Garland of old. Had high hopes for him this season and a very good start to it
  24. I thought our kicking our for behinds was the best I've seen for a long time. Brayshaw laid some cracker tackles for a first gamer! All of our new players had good games, the only change I would make is Vince for Toumpas which is harsh as he was the sub but after watching it at the ground and watching the replay he really didn't have a good game at all. Vince would definitely add more at this stage and I want to get more wins on the board. I think the Toump lacks a lot of confidence and needs to get it by playing some good footy at Casey. Still have very high hopes for him though
  25. Heeney looked very impressive!
