  1. We went inside 50 68 times for 7 marks. Port went in 39 times for 10 marks. Now this is partly because we butchered the ball, but they also have 3 big talls to crash packs in Howard (199cm), Clurey (193cm) & Westhoff (200cm) who plays both ends. We had Oscar (196cm) and Smith (191). I know we will be better as Petty gets older and we get Lever back, but we really need to find another option down back. Joel Smith is just not good enough to play as a second tall.
  2. As I said to Wiseblood it wasn't just the goals. They took a heap of contested grabs and also got some very soft goals deep because we were under sized. And yes I watched the game you [censored].
  3. Do you remember that mark on the line? Or the marks they got 15m out directly in front? They have multiple tall forwards so no one 'gave us a bath', but they took a lot more contested marks than us. We need tall defenders to be killing those contests on the wings.
  4. How do the match committee think we can play with 1 tall defender? Against probably the tallest forward line in the comp? Please bring in Petty and give the kid a crack! He can play second tall and Smith 3rd. Garlett needs to come in for Tyson. He's completely lost it.
  5. Goodwin isn't afraid to back the young guys in. Would not be surprised in the slightest if Petty is selected and I'd also back him in to perform well.

Sloane is not the player we need. Similar to a lot of our other mids. We need to diversify!

No Jones will likely move back there and replace Vince and Lewis. All I'm saying is we need to always be looking to improve, not just be content with where we are at.

He's an upgrade on guys like Vince & Lewis. Why shouldn't we be looking to create the most dominant team in the AFL? Plus with Jones likely to be moved out of the midfield more over the next few years, we need additional talent in there.

With all due respect Saty, I think you are wrong here. Last year against Port in an elimination final he had 34 touches. Then in the next final he had 25, so hardly went missing when the heat was on. Grand Final in 2015 he had 34 also. So I think he has proven that he can stand up in big games. While he is obviously not a brute in the middle like Oliver, he's a different type of player and one we don't really have. I don't believe he is worth any more than $700k a season though, unlike someone like Oliver who in 2-3 years will be easily worth over a mill a season.
  10. Ideal scenario would be bringing in Gaff, Langdon and Wallis. Vince retires and we move Jones to the half back flank. Best 22 next season: B: Jetta OMac Hibberd HB: Jones Petty Lever ? Gaff Viney Salem HF: Melksham Hogan Neal-Bullen F: Spargo TMac Petracca R: Gawn Oliver Wallis Int: Langdon Lewis Fritsch Brayshaw We win 2019 flag.

Anyone who doesn't think Gaff should be our main priority does not understand football. We have the inside ball winners covered, we lack outside run at times and this guy is one of the best. Plus anyone saying he isn't a competitor, he's averaging the most in his career so has improved in this area. We should be in the box seat as we can still offer a bit of cash but have the potential success card up our sleeves. Carlton, Saints and even North can't provide that.
  12. Definitely expected more from him this year. Still think we will be a very good player, but he should shadow Oliver for the remainder of the year and the off season to get himself in the best shape possible. Needs to lean down quite a bit. Also not sure why Brayshaw was played on the wing all day? He has been killing it in the middle and I don't remember seeing him in the starting midfield setup at all in the 2nd half. Strange.
  13. we could absolutely play McDonald, Petty and Lever down back over the coming years. I would say that will be our preferred option from next year and beyond. With Gawn, Hogan, T McDonald, Lever, Petty and O McDonald we will have the most mobile talls in the competition and have a massive advantage on the rest of the competition.
  14. I agree with this. But Petracca has been better than De Goey up until this point, yethe is listed at #14. I don't know why I'm even getting worried about this, it is meaningless anyway haha.
  15. What about Petracca?? What about McDonald?? What a joke this list is.
  16. Seems to be a really impressive guy. Will be a big loss this year but I'm sure he will be supporting the team and will likely be providing the defenders with some coaching.
  17. I've got a feeling we will bring in Declan Keilty to have first crack at the Lever role. While the loss will definitely hurt, if he can come in and play a role for the team then we should be able to cover this. Hibberd will be required to step up in the intercept role in Lever's absence.
  18. Nervous wait until we hear the outcome of the scan! Hopefully only a 3-4 week injury and he could be back after the bye.
  19. I hope the club come out soon to confirm the Lever injury. My anxiety levels have risen...

He will jump ship after their GF loss.... to the team that beat them. There's my prediction.

This thread will now be in overdrive.....
  22. While I agree with Reiwoldt's views, it seems the media like to choose their narrative and stick with it no matter what. Take the Eagles for example, who granted are playing well, however 7 of their 9 wins are against bottom 10 sides. Also, their two wins against top 8 sides have been at home and one of them was against an injury ravaged Geelong, who were down to one fit man on the bench. Geelong were getting on top that day until they lost those players and then the Eagles ended up running over them. They don't seem to mention this at all.
  23. Look at his backline. All small running backs. The weekly team should be as close to an actual team as possible, so a minimum of two tall backman. Lever should have been in that side without a doubt.
  24. He is a freak. Could go down as one of the greats of the game, and that is not even exaggerating.
  25. Looks like I'll be heading to Etihad for this one
